Hi everyone. I have the Nitecore i2 and it has been working great and charging my 18350 batteries. However, I basically have to sit and make sure once the batteries are fully charged to remove them from the charger. My fear is that it will over charge the batteries. Not sure if the Nitcore i2 has some kind of protection to stop charging once fully charged.

My understanding is that the Pila does have some kind of protection to stop charging once the batteries are fully charged. So if I forget the charger plugged in for a few hours my batteries will be fine. At least this is how I understand the Pila to work.

What do you guys think?

The i2 has over charge protection, you shouldn't leave batteries charging unattended anyways. If the i2 is working, then I'd only look at grabbing another charger as back up. It's a pretty critical piece of equipment. I do like my Pila, out of three different chargers Iv owned, it's been the only one to hit 4.2 volts of charge every time.

Thank you for your replies. Leithan, good point, it is rare I ever have my batteries charge to 4.2, usually 4.1 on the Nitcore i2. I don't like to leave the house while I am charging anything. But I was just worried that I might forget it one day. It is comforting to know that the Nictore has protection against over charging. At this point I will keep using it. You guys just saved me $45 :D

Thanks again

even my run-of-the-mill Tenergy charger has overcharge protection. ive never gotten above 4.2 on my batts. im always present, looking for the green light, but even when im not paying attention the meter never reads above 4.2v. but i rarely even get that high. my left bay charges up to 4.16v, then trickle charges the remaining .04v; the right bay charges up to 4.18v, then trickles.
i do want one of the LCD screen chargers but i can wait pretty much indefinately because chargers are one of the things i am not worried about if/when the vape-apocolypse hits.

I'd say use the money you've saved to buy a new mod :D
When I first got my i4 charger I was constantly checking it. Then I realised that as the charger reaches the end of the cycle, it goes into trickle mode and then stops charging. It's easy to check as the charger feels cooler in trickle mode, even over the different ports. I regularly charge 14500 and 18650's together without any problems.
