Wow. I just got on the scale and I've lost a half of pound in the almost 4 weeks I've been analog free. I think this may be due to being able to satisfy my sweets (or really, any) craving with vaping. If I want say some chocolate, well, I can vape chocolate peppermint, chocolate raspberry, cafe mocha, the list goes on. And my oral fixation is taken care of too. I really expected to gain weight. Pleasant surprise.

Mark, I live in Minnesota as well, and I have been a potato since like, age 5. I was one of the first obese children (before it became so wildly popular).

I haven't been vaping steadily long enough to know if vaping is affecting my weight one way or another, but I will say this at the risk of being a bit gross: Maybe it's the nicotine, maybe the VG that's part of the bases I vape...but I am pooping like a moose on ExLax. If this keeps up, I will certainly lose weight. I currently exercise, watch what I eat and take a couple anti-hypertension and cholesterol medications...that might also be helping me to lose weight.

Hmmm I swear Im the only person who has gained weight since I started Vaping.

Oh no you aren't! I've gained a few pounds, but nothing that really concerns me. The last time I tried to quit smoking I gained over 60lbs. It was horrible! I've been thinking about just going up and down the stairs now that I go up a flight without getting completely winded.

No change for me really. My variance has changed from 4 pounds to about 8 though. I always hover around 174, and would go between 172 and 176, but now I'll go up to about 180 and back. I think most of that is due to the fact that I haven't quite gotten into the proper hydration mode yet.

Last December, I went on an "eat more" diet, and this has completely changed my metabolism. I eat about 6 times a day or more, but am more of a grazer now, so I think this has helped with the typical quitting smoking weight gain because I am always eating anyway.

If you were asking about money I would say lost (so far) because I am a web shopaholic at anything new I get into.

Weight hard to tell right now with Halloween (bought 2 whole bags of mini candy bars and only had doorbell ring once, so of course are polishing off those candy bars), and now Thanksgiving. But I think about the same. I totally pigged out the first week of vaping - everything tasted so good with my sinuses clear. The 3rd night of vaping - I think that was the first time I ever got my money's worth at a buffet. I put away a huge amount of food. My twice as large fiance was actually done eating and I was still eating. I could have kept going too. but after a week or so I think my appetite went back to more or less normal. I am still enjoying food more but I'm not ravenous like that first week.

Well I've gained a good 12 lbs in 8 weeks. Firstly, I am vaping 0mg of Nicotine. 2nd, I was laid off of my job Oct 1st that involved physical activities;walking and lifting 50lbs daily. 3rd: I had neck surgery one month ago and I'm limited in physical activity in general. But, I think that my weight gain has more to do with me no longer getting a nic fix which curbed my appetite. I'm not happy about the weight gain...but i'll get it off when i'm capable of more exercise!

My weight doesn't really fluctuate at all. I've been at the same weight (except for Basic Training and the 3 months after) for probably 5 years. I was blessed with a fast metabolism that I swear will catch up to me in 10-15 years. So no change here at all.

Isn't part of the reason people gain weight that when you're quitting smoking, you just keep eating after a meal because you can't smoke? Instead of relieving that "full feeling" with a puff, you reach for more food to keep your hands/mouth busy? That was my experience in the past, anyway. Not the weight, the bottomless-pit complex. ;)

Its partially that.

The other factor is this:

When you smoke cigarettes, youre placing more toxins in your body than it can handle at any one time. Often times, the body will simply store those toxins to deal with later. It encloses them in fat. When we start vaping the body now has time to deal with the toxins and starts to break down some fat to get to them.

A friend told me that about six months into vaping he felt good enough again to start working out. As he worked out some of the fat he had aquired he went through the detox of cigarettes all over again as his body was assaulted by all the cigarette toxins it has stored up.
