My sympathies to those who've had a rough time. I've been fortunate. From day one to the present...I've almost always been really happy with my vaping experience.

Boge cartos have stuck with me through thick & thin as a pleasure...on every PV I've ever had. I realize they're not everyone's thing, but they were (& still are) exactly what I was looking for. Simple, easy, & they work great. DIY-ing my juices, same deal. It has always been simple, easy & very satisfying...from day one to the present. PV-wise, I originally started with a couple of auto Joye 510's:

They don't do it for me today at all, haha...but I remember well the lovely satisfaction they gave me as a newbie for quite awhile. My next step up several months later was definitely a flirtation / stepping stone & a bit of a mistake - an auto Mega eGo:

Yeah, I was sort of weirdly resistant to a manual PV back when, lol. Fortunately, the Mega eGo was very affordable & its failings pushed me in the right direction. And during all this, I'd been reading about dozens of mods in detail, watching reviews etc for months...considering what might be the PV for me, now that I had outgrown the 510's. A few months later, I got the dream - the ProVari:

Can't say enough good things about the ProVari, so I'll be quiet about it for now. The point is I'm a happy vaper! I was a year ago...and I still am.

Sure, there have been a few things along the way that I didn't like. Some of the flavours I tried. The box of CE2 R4 "fillerless" cartos from Jack. More recently, the J-Tank from ElectroNicStix. (I think the concept may still have promise. For now, the hell with tanks.) But it's not the end of the world. So I don't like CE2's or carto-tanks - no problem. It didn't cost me much to find that out. And I do love Boge cartos by themselves, on my lovely ProVari!

So...I've read the posts here, and I hear what people are saying. But really, what are we saying? The idea of smoking makes me want to vomit now. Looking through these posts leads me back to the same things that I've always believed. Vaping doesn't need to be complicated. It can be very complicated if you make it that way. Doesn't need to be. It's always been dirt-simple for me.

If someone truly cares about their health & wants to make the switch...they will. They'll take the time to read a bit & learn from the mis-steps of those who have gone before them. And it'll be so much easier & more successful if the vaper guiding them keeps things simple & straightforward. I've personally seen it happen, numerous times.

My vape-shopping for the most part is very simple. I buy my liquids; I buy my cartos. I buy flavourings. Once in awhile, I'll buy a little goodie like the Ming tips. My point is...it's not complicated, nor is it burdensome. It's fun! I like finding new flavours. I'm gonna try a bunch of the new Essence ones very soon - anyone tried the Pancakes one yet? Sounds ymmmmm!

I'm healthy, I'm happy...the babies are thrilled. I have fun with flavours. I'm smoke-free. What more could I want? Saw a poor guy on the street last night, picking up half-smoked cigarettes...it was so pitiable...and revolting. The freedom that vaping has given me is priceless, and I'll never give it up.

Vaping is not complicated, unless you make it that way. It's not expensive either, unless you make it that way - I was beyond poor when I began, and I could afford it. Even now that I'm doing better...I view the ProVari as saving me plenty of money in the long run. That one purchase means I won't be making ten crappy ones, y'know? But seriously, back to the smoking thing for a minute...think about that guy on the street, scrounging for butts. If you think paying a fortune, stinking to high heaven & dying horribly at a young age is worth the difference in convenience between lighting a cig, or say...filling a carto with e-juice...then you're crazy, and you obviously don't wanna live.

I wanna live to be like 800 quintillion, at least. And I intend to! :D (knock on wood...literal wood, not you wood  )

So anyway...if you're finding yourself frustrated or whatever with your vape-shopping or vaping experience: simplify. You don't need 100 devices, or 100 juices. You don't need to try every new damn thing that comes along either, haha. This should be fun & relaxing & simple. Enjoy yourself, within your means. And remember: whatever it is that's keeping you from smoking is a wonderful thing.

(Btw inked: I noticed your post where you said you're having difficulty finding satisfying juices. May I suggest DIY? Compared to trial-and-error with premixed...it's much less expensive, really easy to do & far more likely to please you. Hang in there, hon! We all care about you. Oh and P.S. I have a 30mL bottle here of 21mg NFN Applewood Tobacco that's yours if you want it. PM me, k?)

---

Here's a sweet pic to finish this post. The stainless steel Ming tip was $18, feels really nice between my lips...and it'll last a lifetime. The carto is just a normal Boge carto, with the sticker removed. Looks pretty sweet! And she vapes beautifully.

Like most things in life...experiences differ. There's nothing wrong with you if things aren't going well. But odds are that whatever the problem is...it can be fixed. Next time you feel frustrated...come to ECF. You have good friends here, who will uplift & encourage & help you. And probably even share some juices with you now & then.

Happy vaping everyone!

... feels really nice between my lips...

must ... keep ... mind ... out ... of ... ... gutter :)

I've been fortunate in my vaping career.

Started with the eGo. It was good. Did the job. Wasted money on tanks. But oh well. Found that dripping was my thing.

I was content. But the experimenter in me wanted to step up.

Got a RoughStack Maxi. Worked wonderful. Then I got bamboozled into DC cartos and LR. Well, I found what I was looking for. Very very happy with the RS and an LR atty. Found I didn't like cartos. First frustration, my atty's started leaking on me. Got a drip shield, problem solved.

So this kept me for a couple of months. Next step, wanted to try HV or VV. Buzz Pro came on and I've been very very happy with it. Wish battery life was better, but you can't win 'em all. So I carry a few extra batts. No biggie.

Next up is driving. Picked up the cartomator (even though I found I didn't like cartos at all). So far so good. Worst case is I stick with the Drip on Demand (good god that thing is weird).

I've been fortunate in that every step I've taken has been for the better. And the cost of experimenting (cartos, LR, HV, etc) has been relatively minimal.

Best of luck to all of you who are frustrated. I wish it works out well for you as it has me.

Lastly, as for juice, I haven't found an all day. But I'm not looking for one either. Find some flavors I like and rotate 'em in.

i feel you, OP. i felt close to that after about 5 months in, esp. with fighting a severe sinus infection the whole time I started vaping. But like an earlier poster said, I am keeping it simple. Found a flavor I like (mtn do) but I couldnt afford to spend money on it after all the different items I tried, so I have been sticking with flavorless niquid ever since. And I am good with it. Been good for close to 3 months now and I still have urges for a flavor but mostly that's just me being bored. I am getting my nicotine and that's all that really matters to me and my mood lol it's not exciting but the way my financial situation is now, it works and I just look for "flavors" elsewhere, like food, and entertainment, etc. If I do get myself in a better situation financially i may dabble a little bit more, but for now it gets me by, and that's really all I need to keep myself from smoking. I too was VERY frustrated trying to find MY flavor, but it would take too much time and too much discipline not to mention money to find that perfect vape. I just get my vape on and vape alot if I need it or dont vape much if i dont. And then move on to the rest of life. Good luck! and may your vaping be long lasting!

They are by far the most practical device out there... but I don't like the looks personally (I like to add a pinch of fashion into my PV) and it's super portable!

Looking more for a at home/office chilling vape to help quite the need to vape everywhere... I think that's what she was getting at anyways.

A reo mini woodvil is the absolute most refined functioning vape around.

When your batteries/cartos all die in the same day you'll have your first "OH ...." moment and then you'll start to get a better idea of how many "back ups" to have on hand :)
Whatever you think is enough, double it :p

Backup the backup with another backup.

Oh it's so easy to fall into that trap of searching for the perfect vape and forgetting the big picture. I have come close a few times myself but luckily I am broke for another 6 months. :)

A few weeks ago I was not a happy vaper, but several shipments later and emptying my pockets I have found satisfaction again. But I have to drop nic levels so the 100's and 100's of ml of juice I have here is useless. I will DIY some crap up to cut down on the nic for a bit, order a pile of 18mg juice, give away the 24mg and start all over. I even expanded my collection of pv's today. No matter what, beats smoking analogs. I'm going to say vaping has become border line obsessive for me :)

I still have those "argh vaping is so much work" moments now and then, but I don't even think about reverting to smoking, instead I toy with the idea of quitting everything and leading a smokeless/vapeless life. I've even tried it a few times, going an entire day without vaping, it's surprisingly not that hard especially because unlike smoking analogs I don't associate certain times/moments of the day with vaping.

I experienced first hand what it is turn vaping into a hobby, and damn what an expensive one it was. Wanting to try everything, chasing that "perfect vape" as so many other have said, attys, cartos, tanks, DIY, 3.3V, 3.7V, 4.8V, 5V, 6V, VV, bottom feeding, top feeding, tube mods, box mods, DIY mods. It never ends!!

My recent mods firesale left me with nothing but a Reo Grand and a Rough Stack, and as much as it sucks to give up my toys, it's quite a blessing to have only 2 very simple devices that can both be transformed into HV devices should I feel the need to, but a 510LR at 3.7V is all I need. Dripping with the RoughStack has been one of the best vaping experiences I've had to date. It allows me to constantly change up my flavors, right now I'm alternating every 5 minutes between Kiwi/Lychee and Papaya.

When you start getting frustrated it's time to go back to the basics to remember.

I ask because, for me, vaping had started to get too frustrating, time consuming, and "complicated" 4 months ago. I almost gave it up after a year and a half of perpetually looking for the "perfect" vape, thinking I found it, but continuing the never ending search anyway, buying the newest, latest, greatest, biggest, longest lasting, most recommended......"stuff".

I asked myself what drew me to vaping in the first place, what was I looking for, and how would I know when I found it? After all, I "thought" I'd found my perfect vape before, with the eGo, then with the eGo tank, then with various popular mods, and with various attachments. Truth is, I was missing the simplicity of cigarettes, I was missing holding it like a cigarette, letting it hang from my lips when I'm typing. I was getting tired of pushing buttons and feeling conspicuous with bigger devices. I was tired of thinking I'd "hit the jackpot" only to read about something "better" every week.

When I started I was simply looking for help to quit smoking. It seems I was getting "hooked" on searching, buying and trying new "things" as they came out. My new "hobby" was becoming a lifestyle, and was costing a lot of money to boot. Things would be great for a day or a week, and then...leaks, bad taste, messes, frustration, and more searching. All I really ever wanted was to find something to help me quit smoking.

I happen to like the vapor and the simplicity of cartomizers, and I was perpetually hoping/expecting and trying to duplicate the "experience" of vaping a brand new carto, from ones that were used one or more times - after all, why throw away a perfectly good carto so I thought! In my search for the perfect vape I spent too much time watching videos on how to clean cartos Ultimately I concluded that they're only "new" once, and that by expecting a filler material to get wet, heated, boiled, oven dried, refilled and reheated, might be expecting the unrealistic. It seemed a lot like a cotton ball being washed and dried and expecting it to be as fluffy as new.

So I wondered if, and wanted to encourage anyone else who might be starting to feel frustrated at the time and effort spent researching, buying, trying, cleaning and maintaining devices and components, and see that it might not be the device, the carto, the tank, or the cleaning method used, but rather, us, looking for, hoping, and expecting more than we originally sought to satisfy? I was becoming "trained" to seek out bigger, thicker mouthfuls of vapor, because I came to believe that was the ultimate "goal" because it looked good in reviewer videos, and because I was being trained to think that bigger products are better. In fact, the very first, crappy, low priced e-cig, was enough to win me over! When did I get so "involved" in a huge vapor "seeking" lifestyle?

I support ANY shape, size, or type of e-cig, whatever works for you! But if you're feeling like I was, and "the chase" is getting old, I just want to encourage everyone to revisit your reasons for switching, and see if it might be time to go "back to basics", not back to smoking! :vapor:

Well said.

After my initial withdrawals from WTAs was over and done with (roughly 12 weeks) all was/is fine. I never looked back.

In retrospect how does one find satisfaction long term? In all honesty one gets an eGo, a half doz spare atties and stays the hell off the forums. It is the forums that generates the pain not the withdrawal from smoking.

If one was left to his/her own device and able to concentrate without all the generated hype, I believe one would have an easier time with it. Of course YMMV :)

I agree w/Switched. When I get antsy-I back off ECF. Checking the classies and trying to see what new developments are "in the works" can be futile and expensive.

It's like that with life...a person is happy as a lark w/the car they are driving, kids they've got, person they married, etc. and here comes a bigger, shinier, newer model. It only gets sticky when we keep looking at the old model, then at the new, then back at the old...Some of us can "look" and keep on steppin', others sigh with longing and can't look away.

Know your limits...

I don't think money is REALLY the issue though ... cause the average smoker I would assume goes through a pack a day. That's not difficult to do. That's like ~300bucks a month (plus the odd cigar/cigarillo)!

I don't think I could spend that every month on vaping even if I tried! That's like $3000+ a year... I could open my own store for that kind of money lolz...

JEEEEEEZUUSSSS...

You are a machine! o_0

I wasn't kidding when I said it turned into a "hobby" :) Had I known everything I know now though I would have gotten a Reo and some LR attys from the very beginning and I'm sure it would have curbed my crazy spending spree. At least I can share my lesson with friends and family wanting to make the switch...

I only spent about $150 a month on smokes, so it's not difficult to go over that amount being a vaper. Especially when all your #%&*#$%$ batteries keep dying.

Knock on wood I still haven't had a single battery crap out on me yet. Might be because I have a whole bunch of them and I keep rotating them...

You know, I'm beginning to think it's luck of the draw. I've accidentally soaked auto batteries countless times. Some never recovered, and some it never bothered. Maybe the ones made on Friday morning are just better lol?
