I ask because, for me, vaping had started to get too frustrating, time consuming, and "complicated" 4 months ago. I almost gave it up after a year and a half of perpetually looking for the "perfect" vape, thinking I found it, but continuing the never ending search anyway, buying the newest, latest, greatest, biggest, longest lasting, most recommended......"stuff".

I asked myself what drew me to vaping in the first place, what was I looking for, and how would I know when I found it? After all, I "thought" I'd found my perfect vape before, with the eGo, then with the eGo tank, then with various popular mods, and with various attachments. Truth is, I was missing the simplicity of cigarettes, I was missing holding it like a cigarette, letting it hang from my lips when I'm typing. I was getting tired of pushing buttons and feeling conspicuous with bigger devices. I was tired of thinking I'd "hit the jackpot" only to read about something "better" every week.

When I started I was simply looking for help to quit smoking. It seems I was getting "hooked" on searching, buying and trying new "things" as they came out. My new "hobby" was becoming a lifestyle, and was costing a lot of money to boot. Things would be great for a day or a week, and then...leaks, bad taste, messes, frustration, and more searching. All I really ever wanted was to find something to help me quit smoking.

I happen to like the vapor and the simplicity of cartomizers, and I was perpetually hoping/expecting and trying to duplicate the "experience" of vaping a brand new carto, from ones that were used one or more times - after all, why throw away a perfectly good carto so I thought! In my search for the perfect vape I spent too much time watching videos on how to clean cartos Ultimately I concluded that they're only "new" once, and that by expecting a filler material to get wet, heated, boiled, oven dried, refilled and reheated, might be expecting the unrealistic. It seemed a lot like a cotton ball being washed and dried and expecting it to be as fluffy as new.

So I wondered if, and wanted to encourage anyone else who might be starting to feel frustrated at the time and effort spent researching, buying, trying, cleaning and maintaining devices and components, and see that it might not be the device, the carto, the tank, or the cleaning method used, but rather, us, looking for, hoping, and expecting more than we originally sought to satisfy? I was becoming "trained" to seek out bigger, thicker mouthfuls of vapor, because I came to believe that was the ultimate "goal" because it looked good in reviewer videos, and because I was being trained to think that bigger products are better. In fact, the very first, crappy, low priced e-cig, was enough to win me over! When did I get so "involved" in a huge vapor "seeking" lifestyle?

I support ANY shape, size, or type of e-cig, whatever works for you! But if you're feeling like I was, and "the chase" is getting old, I just want to encourage everyone to revisit your reasons for switching, and see if it might be time to go "back to basics", not back to smoking! :vapor:

I get frustrated with it - especially beeing new and learning by trial and error... I look at the alternative though and the alternative don't like my lungs.

Vaping is like a lifestyle. Part of you enjoys it the other part appreciates it. And though it's a nuisance at times... I go through with it cause it helps me get through my day and keeps me down to earth without the side effects of analogs.

Plus it's more "people friendly" :D

my2cents...

EDIT: Furthermore - I bet if you took a drag of a cigarette you'll be back on your PV :D

I just finished reading your ENTIRE post - I posted my thoughts from the top so I wouldn't loose what I was thinking.

So in conclusion...

I'm trying to keep it simple. I like the CE2 right now and I like chocolate something with tobacco... I don't wan't to venture off of that cause it's working for me and I'm choosing to turn a blind eye to other products for now :D

Keep it simple = gets me through my day :D

Yes. I've had an abnormal amount of battery failures, and I invested too much into the tank system. I've since vowed not to buy anymore tank atties because they only work well for a short time frame. I have like 6 that still work, but suck balls. I've also gone through 5 Ego batteries in as many months.

Luckily I've been very content with Ego LR atties since day 1, but now that I've moved to mods I have to start using 510 LR atties. I don't like them as much, but to use a EGo atty I have to use an adapter... which just doesn't work great with a bottom feeder.

My problem isn't so much of a "chasing the dragon" issue, it's more of a "MAKE A DAMN mod that accepts Ego LR atties" problem. Maybe I'll just buy a hacksaw and trim the cone to expose the 510 thread. :)

Maybe I should just count myself lucky that I've found my perfect atty. Everything I try just pales in comparison. I dunno why either, cause not many people use the LR Ego atties. My theory is that they are essentially a 510 LR atty with a lot more surface area, which lends itself to less dry hits, less dripping/better wicking...

I've felt the same way many times. Now I just want to own everything :) But have I never found something that is as good, cheap and practical as dripping on an ego with B type LR atty or a 510 LR is good too. Just sucks taking multiple batteries, chargers, fluids and dripping while driving. So along came Reo one device lasts the entire day+ great producer I leave a spare atty in my cars and if I'm gone for more then a day a couple extra batteries in my bag. I will continue to buy PV's and try new things out. As you said it becomes a hobby, but I can say that nothing will ever come close to an Ego+type b LR or Reo+510 LR IMO.

I totally relate, I am sick of getting juice all over my hands, in my mouth, all over my stuff, etc. I realized that literally every tobacco juice was nothing like a cigarette early in vaping and accepted that, but I hate always having to try new flavours and only finding certain ones that are any good - and even those are not ones I can take all day.

I was happier back when NFN still had nic juices... Those were perfection I tell you. I could have a tobacco when I was in need of a real cig, the menthol has never been equaled and is the only one I can stand, the Peach/Apple/Cherrywood were to die for and and are my favs to this day beside AV Boba's Bounty and DigitalCiggz Vanillaz... I was willing to deal with the greasy hands just to have those perfect vapes.

I think I will be sticking with an eGo, Bloog and Icon, and will hopefully be getting a Darwin at some point.

So tbh, there are days I get so frustrated I feel like breaking whatever device I am using and just having a cigarette again. I took up vaping to live healthier, quit the nicotine and not snap on those around me and it works for 2 out of 3 of those things. I would love to see more vendors who actually offer a gradual step-down program for nic that would help people who don't want to DIY or just don't have the talent to quit their dependence.. But they seem few and far between.

I am at this point also. Here I am a year and half in and just dropped to 0mg and cannot get satisfied. If I try to vape even 2or 4mg I am getting dizzy so it's not the nic. I am tired of leaky atties, dead cartos, shorted out batts and nasty tasting juices. I miss the simple walk into the store say give me a pack of _______ . I have decided to only purchase one juice from now on and if I feel like vaping it will be here and if I don't like the flavor too bad. I am happily not smoking cigarettes. I like not being smelly, not going outside and I can breathe. I think that I am going to quit vaping soon I just have to get in the mood like I did when I said i am going to quit smoking. I love vaping but nothing is working right lately and I know I don't need to vape any more but I like it. My original goal was to quit smoking and I have but I am worried that if I get rid of all my vape stuff that I would at some point start smoking again maybe not now but someday. So for now I will keep limping on without putting anymore money into vaping and just use what I have until its all used up. Except..... I really want an alpha ultralite(haha) it never ends. It would be the perfect when I need to vape device for me. Stored in that beatuiful case and just waiting patiently for me to use it. I just need to have my credit card taken away. I am in the there is a better setup out there and I still want to vape mode. So I am finding it hard to curb my desire to not purchase the next big dream device.

I guess maybe I was one of the few lucky ones (so far at least!) that never had any catastrophic failures with my gear which resulted in untimely replacements or nic juice all my desk. Maybe it was because vaping took to me like a duck to water, as opposed to the other way around.

Sure, I spend money on it, trying new flavors, and occasionally investing in a new Revolution or eGo booster, but I still havn't come close to spending what I used to spend on analogs, not even close!

Maybe I'm not as refined a vapor as someone who has been doing it for 5 years, and maybe my tastes are totally different from other vapor's, but that just reinforces the fact that everybody is different.

As far as looking for the "perfect" vape, I honestly feel I have already found it, which just makes every other juice and e-cig I buy an adventure! I might like the new juice and/or e-cig, but if I don't, I know I can always go back to my trusty old eGo rig and juice I enjoy so much right now and be no worse for wear.

Bottom line for me is every day I can make it without having an analog is a good day!

just my two cents

The pipe with a tank looks awesome. My hubby already looks at my ego and laughs and he doen't like my joyestick either. I of course camo wrap everything so he gets a kick out of the odd shaped camo pv's all over the house, meanwhile he still goes outside to smoke. I have thought about the pipe before and decided I don't think it's for me. I would have to try it I guess and I dont want to buy another TRY it pv. I want a permanent pv something that I can store and use when I Need it. But it does look really good with that tank on it.

That looks like some serious hardware!

I don't personally like the silver one cause I don't want to look like I'm sucking on a vibrator - but the pipe looks awesome!!!

What model is that and what atty is in there - looks custom.

The pipe was made by Matt @ epipemods.com it's the Egg style. I have another one also from Matt (it's in my picture album on my profile) The tank is DCT Map from Most Angry Pirate with a Smoketech Dual Cartomizer.

I've been at the frustration point before and after using this setup, everything is a dream.

I think a pipe might be my next purchase... :) Love the way it looks.

Totally recommend it! It uses a 18350 which lasts me close to a day. Before the tank setup, I was rocking the Ego Dual Carto and with that it looks exactly like a pipe.

I used a P18 at first but I was getting tired of the odd looks from people. argh.
