I did, i guess I got something different out of it than you. It came across as negative to me. Maybe it's just because it's 2 am and my baby's been screaming for 5 hours. I'll give it another read in the morning when i'm in a better mood.

Sorry :/

No worries. The headline is ghastly, but the article is actually straight reporting, not an op:ed. Unfortunately, you're right in that all people are going to remember is the headline.

Some doctor quoted in the article argued, "What happens at the end-of-life stage for these products? Cigarette butts are already toxic waste. These have batteries and other toxic materials in them." He believes their disposal should be "more carefully regulated just like we regulate paints or car batteries or other items we don't just dispose of in the street. It's very difficult to get rid of batteries. To think that people could be just tossing these on the ground like normal cigarette butts—I just don't know."

Right, because it's a given that people who will use e-cigarettes will litter with their batteries any more or less than consumers of any other products... Wow, that's a pretty compelling health objection to ecigs, doc.

Yeah, I thought it was a pretty good article. It was actually a little refreshing, because I'm used to reading either articles from authors who recite lies and make false claims about the dangers of e-cigs, or ones that confirm my own biases. I think these things are borderline miraculous for the impact they are having on people's lives, but it's good to try to maintain a balanced perspective.

I too thought it was a pretty well researched and (mostly) unbiased article. One thing that stood out for me:

"The rule is due by April of this year, but once proposed, a lengthy public comment period would ensue, and months would stretch on before the regulations would be enforceable by law."

Don't worry, all you zombie-apocaplypse-hoarders out there have plenty of time to build your stash :)

This article is less negative than many of the ones I have read. I just posted this morning on the biased press that PVs seem to get. I think we all know that vaping isn't like eating fresh fruit and taking vitamins. A lot of smoking's appeal has to do with pleasure, and simply eliminating nicotine doesn't address that. Vaping satisfies the need without causing the same harm.

The guy who fretted about batteries had a valid point. I wonder what HE does with his old flashlight/camera/cell phone/laptop batteries? Yes, we should be diligent about recycling them instead of tossing them in the trash. Otherwise, my attitude toward people who object to e-cigs is: if it ain't harming you, then have a nice hot cup of shutup.
