The mg of nic depends person to person. Some people have issues determining their strength. I smoked 2 packs a day and ended up at 24mg which works good. A friend of mine also 2 pack a day habbit had to go to 16mg for his sweet spot, 24mg was to much. Best thing I can tell you, if you have a flavor you really like, get multiple strengths ie 12mg, 18mg, and 24mg and just see which works best for you personally.

I forgot the other important part is to find a go to flavor, I had bought 6 flavors when I started and purposly stayed away from tobacco flavors (but thats me). I was a menthol smoker and found Fire and Ice flavor a good go to. When I had the urge to light up I would switch carto to the fire and ice and it worked much better than any other of my flavors to get rid of the craving.

Welcome to the forum earlfleetwood!
One of the first things you need to do is to not rush yourself. For some it is an immediate thing, for others a couple weeks, months or even after 6 months some still have a cigarette here and there. There are a few that end up not being able to vape.
One of the things you need to remember is that when you first start vaping (for some) it bothers your throat and kinda hits you in the lungs. You are introducing something new to your system and your body needs to adjust.
Slow, easy inhales-not like you do with a cigarette. Maybe you could try an 18mg e-liquid.
If your 12 mg and your 24 mg e-liquid are of the same flavor you can mix equal parts (say 6ml and 6ml)and get an 18mg mix.

Earl,
If you can, try lighting a cig and setting it in your ashtray. The burning cig smells terrible. I just vape away and get lost doing something else. If you still feel the urge, light that same cig and try again. Worse comes to worst, you've waited 30 minutes or so before having that cigarette. But just the reward of lighting it might be enough to get you over the hump.

I ordered juices at 30 and 36 mg because I could sit here and chain-vape the 24 mg stuff I have. different strokes

Welcome to ECF! I'd have to agree with HzG8rGrl. Just take it slow. Heck, if you were able to cut just two cigarettes a day, isn't that improvement? Take some time to adjust what juices you're using. I haven't had a cigarette in 4 weeks, but my wife still smokes - about half of what she used to. That's improvement. Don't be to hard on yourself, and enjoy it.

I agree, don't rush it. For me I still smoked a few analogs a day for the first few weeks. I just couldn't get rid of that first one in the morning. I tried one about 2 weeks ago and didn't really like it. I was bored today so I lit up and anolog (I still have 1/2 of a pack left) I only took two puffs off of it and threw it away. It tasted terrible, I don't know how I smoked them for 40 years. Give it some time and let it happen for you.

I was a terrible heavy smoker. Couldn't function unless I had a cig between my lips. I made sure to have a bunch of different strengths and flavors when I started. I've been off since August and have gone from 36mg down to 18mg. I still keep a couple of "high stress carts" full of 36mg just in case. Anxiety is the worst thing to experience changing over. When the anxiety hits, or need for a cig, use a higher mg. It should do the trick. Your brain has to be retrained to enjoy vaping over smoking. Hang in there. It gets easier. If you relapse and smoke, don't beat yourself up. Just think of the cigs that you DIDN'T smoke. That's what counts.

I began by using my Yeti once in a while to get used to the feel of it while reducing my analog habit from over a pack a day to 6 to 8 a day. After about a week or two of reduced smoking, analogs began to taste bad to me and I found that I only wanted less than half a cig when I smoked. Went to bed without buying a pack for the next day and didnt want one when I woke up. I smoked anywhere from one to two and a half packs a day for 17 years, most of the time I smoked camels and camel wides. Not saying this will work for you (sincerely hope it does) but it worked for me. Been analog free for a month and a half and "am one with the vapor" haha. Very good luck to you!

I smoked lights and I am fine on 18mg but it has to have throat hit to satisfy me. I like Backwoods Brew Casablanca - it's a Turkish tobacco flavor with cocoa. All of the analogs I ever loved had cocoa in them. Marlboros do too. Casablanca is the first juice that came close to hitting the spot for me. It doesn't taste like a cigarette but seems familiar and close in some way.

I love it, but, just cant seem to switch over!!

Earl hang in there <insert picture of kitty hanging on branch> (totally dating myself here . . . ) You didn't become addicted to cigarettes overnight. The chemicals have a stronger hold on you than on others. Patience. It will happen.

I got my first kit on 4/12/10 and I LOVED IT . . . had my last analog on 5/28/10. I smoked a carton every six days. Wasn't planned. But one day I felt the change and knew I was done. It was a mental snap for me that I felt almost physically. I hadn't had a cigarette in a day and a half, but out of habit was getting ready to drive to the store to buy cigarettes for the work week. But I'd been out of cigs for a day and a half and wasn't in a panic! OMG! Always had to have a back up pack around . . . and there weren't any leftover butts in the ash trays. And I wasn't in a panic. And I knew I was done.

Lots of support and information on the forum about which combos have worked for others. (Mine was cinnamon and gingerbread on an eGo with cartomizers instead of Winston red 100's.) When you find the right solution, you'll know it. Don't give up.

For me I had to get off analogs I developed a allergy to some chemical and every night I got a itchy dry throut and had to take cough medicine to sleep.I am currently vaping 24 mg 50/50 mix from gourmet vaper. So I have to vape for health reasons and I still have to a analog when I get up in the morning but thats only 1 a day .but hang in there its hard at first.

Do you really just have 2 juices? And both the same kind w/ different mg? If the one came with your kit it's fairly likely to be the Dekang Chinese pure PG stuff. I found the PG Marlboro-like stuff satisfied my nicotine dependence but not my soul. The TH was fine and even a bit harsh but that was about it. But it was enough to keep me vaping while I ordered other juices. I bought a variety of juices from US mixers and most of those were a high PG low VG mix (like 70/30 or 80/20) and right away I liked the more visible vapor "smoke" and the smoother and seemingly fuller feel of the vapor. The TH varied between the flavors but as I mentioned before, one of those (Backwoods Brew Casablanca) happened to just click with me with enough TH, a vaguely familiar aroma and dry smokiness with a hint of cocoa. It left me satisfied and relaxed.

Maybe you just need to find a juice that does that for you. Different juices click with different people. You could try some US mixer brands of whatever flavor you are vaping. Like if you are looking for something Marlboro-like there's Backwoods Brew Maxboro (70/30) or FreedomSmokeUSA has something similar as well as a variety of PG/VG options.

These are the flavorings in Marlboro Silver Pack (is this the Ultralight?)
* Tobacco
* Water
* Sugars (Sucrose and/or Invert Sugar and/or High Fructose Corn Syrup)
* Glycerol
* Propylene Glycol
* Licorice Extract
* Diammonium Phosphate
* Ammonium Hydroxide
* Cocoa and Cocoa Products
* Carob Bean and Extract
* Natural and Artificial Flavors
