I've always used the standard Kanger mini kit, and this is my first experience with anything rebuildable.

When I have the case pressed completely down against the box, it either drops to 0.0 and won't let me hit it, or it goes higher than the 0.3 it's supposed to be at and burns.

But if I just slightly lift the case to where there's no contact, it hits perfectly.

Sounds like your coils shorting on the top of the cap. Move your coils down slightly. Hope that helps.

If I understand you correctly, you are saying when you push the RDA side cover over the atty, the side cover makes contact with the top of your Mod, and you get strange resistance readings?

I hope someone with a better understanding of Mod circuits can come in here, but in my limited understanding, this may be messing with the overall device circuit.

I'm only guessing, but I've not owned any RDA's where it has been possible for the RDA side cover to come into contact with the Mod.

Hope someone with more technical knowledge can chime in here.

P.S. If your Mod is reading strange Ohms - Don't Fire It!

The guy at the shop set it up for me. I can't seem to get the outer two screws to tighten down as much without stripping them.

Looks like the Coil on the Back side of this shot is the problem - Discolored and an enlarged loop.
If the loop touches the Cap, you have a Dead short on that coil.

Your concern is NOT whether the Cap touches the Mod - both surfaces are Negative.
No need to worry if outer screws touch the Cap - Both are negative.
The Coils are Positive(center pin) to negative(outer pins)
Partial short, across a coil will lower, but may not Short to 0.00
Short near or at the Center connection is dead short/ 0.00

Loose contact causes jump in resistance. Reading 1 coil instead of 2 at times.

*Get your shop to help in replacing the Grab Screws and find a proper screwdriver that fits the heads.

I agree with everyone that has suggested the coils are too high and hitting the cap. Iv had that happen to me and simply pushing the coils down with my finger has solved the problem.

Let me suggest your next 10 dollars go towards a ohm meter. If you had a ohm meter, you could diagnose this simply by checking it with cap on and cap off, and you would easily be able to exclude the mod as the source of the problem.
