Feb 2017,
Here we go again peeps, calling all Hawaii residents to contact your state reps
and voice your opinions on the 70% added TAX proposal before the state legislature on our
electronic cigarette products.
As it stands today, Electronic Cigarette products are being simply "referred to
as tobacco products" by our state reps.
IN 2017, Actual tobacco products are taxed as follows:
$3.20/Pack for Hawaii Cigarette Tax (includes small cigars)
50% Wholesale Price for Large Cigar Tax
70% Wholesale Price for Snuff, Chewing Tobacco

The Last Line above is the same proposed for all Electronic Cigarette products
to be sold in the state. This will severely hamper our B&M vape shops, possibly
putting some out of business. Additionally it Makes vaping as costly as tobacco, thus
discouraging the economic incentive for alternatives.
If you need ore information on actual tobacco products- see Hawaii Cigarette and Tobacco Taxes for 2017

Many of us are asking our representative to kill this legislation,
please refer to:
SB404 (passed 01 Feb 2017 w/ammendments)

HB246 ( passed 06 Feb 2017 w/ammendments)

its NOT TOO LATE, BUT you MUST ACT NOW!

There are other important issues this session, so take a minute to use the keyword
searches related to E cigarettes, tobacco, e liquid, etc and let your representatives KNOW
your stand.
Mahalo (thanks)

Any legislator can introduce any bill he wants for any reason. Many many are submitted, very few are enacted. What you'd like to know is if very many other legislators are interested in supporting it.

Well Of course we all should know that.
In the case of our Legislative session,
Im calling for immediate action,
NOT as a knee jerk response
but because these measures are
already unanimously approved (1 absent) by our so called
representatives, are rapidly moving forward.
So in this case, Im regretfully stating-
NO, these arent superfluous introduced Bills with little chance of approval.
These have passed the house, are in State Senate
have the full support of introducer's
BAKER, GABBARD, HARIMOTO, Inouye, Keith-Agaran, Kidani, Nishihara
In this state....thats all of them!
(btw, Ive been actively fighting vape rights here since 2011)
thanks for the interest-
(sorry you didnt follow with current status - legislatures just broke 3:30pm HST)

Hawaii residents,
please Read the 'testimony" side bar at the eHawaii.gov site for these bills.
You'll find letters from the A.G. describing the push for all
  • E Liquids taxation
  • E cigarettes reusable and disposable
  • E Cigarette accessories
to be Taxed, to require vendors obtain tobacco retail licensing and further "deeming"
for tax purposes the entire Vaping industry int he state of Hawaii.
Please submit testimony, we may not win, we possibly could win,
but We WILL Be HEARD!
Mahalo (thanks)

Hawaii was one of the first major battlegrounds many years ago.
And Volcano stepped up to the fight.

I'm sorry to see that your politicians refuse to give up.
They keep coming back again and again until they get what they want.

That is what will happen everywhere else in the world too.
Your fight IS our fight.
