Please...
It took me several years to get the name Dick uncensored here.
It was done on the condition that if it gets abused again as a derogatory it will get re-censored.
Pleaseandthankyou !
Sorry, Classy. I guess I started it. I actually fully expected it to be bleeped when I hit Post Reply.

BTW, when I mention I'm living with my mother now, keep in mind she's 80 years old... I'm no "spring chicken" myself. She leaves MSNBC on for hours... drives me nuts!
I'd have to get her a Mother's Day gift, to preserve my sanity. Especially if your mom listens to the TV as loud as mine did.

Senator Dick Durban has told acting FDA Director to Ban e-cigarettes within 10 days or Resign after a third vaping death. Seems to me this is not an FDA problem but a DEA problem since it involves black market T.H.C.

Just curious...

Did our friend Dick happen to mention under what Authority the Acting FDA Commissionaire would use to Ban e-Cigarettes?

Because No Such authority was granted by congress to the FDA Commissionaire under the FSPTCA. Let alone to an Acting FDA Commissionaire.

Just More Emotional Drum Beating from a Tired Old Man in a Grey Suit.

It seems nobody needs authority to do anything these days. Doesn't seem to matter whether anything makes sense, is supported by the facts or anything else, if they want to do it they will. We have the ultimate power vote them all out at the ballot box.

Mike Vapes For President in 2020, Matt from SMM for Vice President

It does seem there is been a Lot of That going on in the Last Decade or so.

And what makes it So Comical is that those who are so Quick and Willing to do it today because they are in Power were the Most Ardent Defenders of Not Doing it when they Weren't.

And Vice Versa.

Whatever fits their narrative at the moment.

Well cigarettes kill, ban cigarette paper! No more cigarettes. This seems to be the current thinking on vaping. I wonder, are people that stupid? They must realize it is what is in the vape juice, not the vape unit itself. Hysteria over everything is the chaos of the day.

What we are seeing is political posturing, attempting to show the public that politicians are responding to a "crisis" situation. The general public is ignorant of the facts concerning youth vaping and "deaths from vaping". Only if you vape do you understand that most of the news media and politicians are ignorant of the facts, because it is a major part of YOUR lifestyle.

There were 400, 000 deaths attributed to smoking last year. Yet no action is demanded to ban cigarettes because of political and economic reasons.

Based on data from 2006–2010, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that, on average, alcohol is a factor in the deaths of 4,358 young people under age 21 each year. This includes: 1,580 deaths from motor vehicle crashes. ... 245 from alcohol poisoning. Yet alcohol (even fruit and candy flavored) isn't banned. Teens are still allowed to drive. Teens are still dying on college campus's for fraternity/sorority hazing rituals from alcohol poisoning.

Agreed, fact is there are many things in life that can kill people, and most of these things are legal. When it comes to politics, all of it, it's nothing but a con game.

    No you can't
Head democrat can call for anything but it's kind of weird that he doesn't know the law. I mean, in what universe can the FDA head just "ban" ecigs, I don't think that is how it works.

    Anna
Haven't read anywhere, where knowing the law is a requirement to run for office.

The real blame goes to the ignorant voter who keeps doing the same thing over and over again while expecting different results.

    Anna for President! :)

OP shows colors and makes this political, when it's just one of 100 Senators making a statement. A stupid one, but one of no import. In what world is Durbin the "head Democrat"? He's not the Minority Leader or President of the DNC, and he doesn't even chair a comitee.

I can't believe that so many of you are blind to the fact that the Republican party has always been the voice of banning things. The Drug Control Act of 1970 comes to mind. Remind me, who was the President at the time, and why did he lobby Congress so hard for the bill and get on TV to declare a "War On Drugs"? A war that drugs are still winning.

It was a Democratic administration that slow walked this whole thing. Then a new (very anti-vaping) President appoints, not one, but two FDA Directors that have made anti-vaping statements, and even written anti-vaping articles. BTW, did you check out yesterday's op-ed in the Washington Post by our current FDA director? A must read, believe me. He must be a closet Democrat, right? Maybe even the Head Closet Democrat.

Since vaping has now been deemed a tobacco product, the FDA has no authority at all to ban it. It is the law that no tobacco products can be banned.

For the record, I am a registered independent. I usually vote for candidates from the Libertarian Party, or occasionally a Democrat. Never a Republican. Among other things, they like to ban stuff (Democrats would rather tax something than ban it, as a general rule). Many of them also want to impose Sharia law on us, only under a different name.
