San Diego City Council officially passed an ordinance Tuesday to ban the sale of flavored (incl. menthol) tobacco products, effective Jan. 1, 2023. Of course, the supporters were most happy about banning the low risk vapor products, not the cigarettes.

FDA Commissioner Dr. Robert Califf has named Dr. Brian King as successor to recently retired director of the FDA’s Center for Tobacco Products (CTP), Mitch Zeller. Whether or not this is good or bad for tobacco harm reduction advocates remains to be seen.

Deceitful anti-tobacco researchers use self-reported, cross-sectional data of people who quit smoking & switched to vaping (or still smoke & vape) to blame any & all adverse health effects experienced on vaping--ignoring the previous smoking.

"Never-smoked" vapers were just 0.02% of the sample. Odds ratios were invented using self-reported estimates of doctor/hospital visits, general feelings of health, etc., then assuming those were related to vaping. Of course, they ignored any net benefits compared to smoking.

LA Council voted 12-0 to ban #vaping and tobacco products in flavors other than "tobacco." As in other cities, the ban is based on anti-vaping org lies about "hooking kids," smoking gateway, etc. It now goes to Mayor Eric Garcetti for his signature.

Thanks to lies told by @Who, the president of Mexico was persuaded to ban the sale of thousands of low risk products helping adults quit smoking (most of which contain no tobacco) for #WorldNoTobaccoDay, while deadly cigarettes are still sold everywhere.
