A lot of the items on their list do look like items meant to protect children from harm. They are the most vulnerable to accidents. Also, the top category for child deaths and injuries are from preventable accidents.

Agree with that, but in the other hands I think that the most damaging things for child is war, and that does not seem to touch mister Harper much...
One day i was in Mexico and I had to pass over a river on something like wire I was a little afraid at first but I did it and woaw i sudently had a strange feeling: liberty! I was free to decide by myself free to use my own judgement FREE what a strange feeling...

People have always had the right to sue in the event a dangerous/banned product is sold to them without reasonable notice, be it a private sale or business transaction, especially if there is an injury or death involved and police have always had the right to seize items at a garage sale that fall under dangerous/banned/stolen,ect and even make an arrest or give citations on the spot.

This is just the media trying to stir up some excitment, just use a little consideration when selling used items as to possible liabilities with the items and parties involved.

The same can also be said for buying stuff at a garage sale too. If it looks dangerous, or in need of repair, don't buy it!

My name is Northershrink and I used to play outside until after dark. I rode a bike without a helmet played hockey in the middle of the street had snowball fights swam and caught frogs in the local pond and built tree forts etc. We never wore helmets and our parents never wrapped us in bubble wrap or called / texted us every 30 seconds. And guess what I actually survived !!

As much as i sincerely agree with your statement i also do have to contradict myself.

When we were kids, it was a completely different ball game. Don't know about y'all, but if i acted up in the store, or pitched a fit for no good reason, i got a good spank on my :censored: if i was going to cry and carry on, then i was going to get something to carry on about. Now a day's if you lay down rule's the child like's then a simple call to child services see's you up on false child molestation charges. You discipline a child you need to make sure it is OK with the child fist. ext ext ext....

Now on the same side of the coin, with kids today, again it is a whole new ball game. You have whack jobs out there that did not really exist when we were younger. shoot, it used to be safe to even ride the city bus without fear of being stabbed, or ride greyhound without fearing of having your head chopped off, or you being stabbed to death......

I can see both sides of the coin, and there is a solution to this all....no one likes it but there is a solution................

The best way to prevent accidents????? Parents watch your children........dont let them throw lawn darts at each other but teach them to play with them correctly like my parents did 40 yrs ago.

Government get outta my life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well thankfully HC is a paper house cat, their meow is a lot louder and more annoying then their bite. Wow, they outlawed clackers! What an outrage :D I remember those, but forgot about them.

Not everyone has kids, and if you do there's a certain responsibility that you must have and I guess there's all sorts of dangers and risks out there that you will need some skills with presumably, not that I've had any experience with the little brats :D

I do remember the candy cigarettes though, I think that's how I first got the idea in my head, who doesn't want to be like Popeye at that age? :) Is Popeye even around anymore or has HC banned him too? We NEED Popeye, to go to Ottawa and pop these ...... at HC.

youtube.com/watch In case you were wondering how fish hooks, alarm clocks, clothes pegs, and canned fish used to be made before HC stepped in....

Never mess with someone from the east coast by the by.....

~taking a detour from HC conversation for a moment but still about pop-eye ~ Does anyone else remember pop-eye the movie, Realised December 12th 1980 starring Robin Williams? or am i the only fur ball that does?
