As much as there is no concrete health research on Vap, from my own experience, quitting cigarette smoking is a mind think, if you do the math and see how much you are spending on cancer causing sticks, it should be enough for one to quit. There are other factors, stinking breath, clothes, smoke environment- car, house or room, all these are factors that should help you quit smoking cigarettes. Not forgetting shortness of breath, which leads to other physical aliment, my take was economic and health and it was enough for me to give up those cancer sticks.
As to the Vap, I do not stink, I save a lot of money, the urge to smoke is no longer there and I feel healthier, my only concern is what or if any concrete research has being done about Vapping, or safe flavors to be used. I like to puff, they choice of Vap is much more alluring, so maybe we can start a list of safer brand flavor and the pros and cons of Vap smoking.
BTW, I was never a heavy cigarette smoker, 1 pack of 20, smoked in 3 days, never used to smoke in the morning if I am home, only smoked in the evening and whilst driving .

Hello and welcome to the forum. I am also relatively new to the forum and recently quit the analogs. With that said, vaping to me is a healthier alternative to what was my almost 30 year PAD habit. I am also interested in harm reduction, and I have found numerous threads on ECF to assist in my education. Please browse around the forum and I am sure you will find a wealth of information of interest. You can also use the search feature for specific information that is located just above your name on the upper right section of the page. For a start, here is a link to a thread on diketone free vendors. Enjoy the forum and congratulations on getting off of the "nails."

Saving money is possible if you don't contract shinyitis. Research on the health effects is being done, although I wouldn't say it is complete. Certainly we don't know as much as we do regarding the harmful effects of tobacco smoking. I can tell you I feel better.

Shinyitis seems to be so very easily contracted!! So many nice gadgets out there.

One CAN save money by vaping but I am not sure that too many do.

I can assure you that the overwhelming majority of people save massive amounts on vaping compared to the expense of smoking. It's only the small but very vocal minority who turn vaping into a collectors hobby that spend a lot.

My wife is a prime example of the normal person who vapes. In the past 2 years she's only bought one mod, three 18650 batteries, 3 cheap tanks, and around 20 coils. Even if you throw in the cost of a charger she spent less than $200 in the past 2 years on hardware. She smoked a pack a day, and with a cost of $6 per pack that would have been $4,380, so she's saved over $4,180 in the past 2 years.

Even I have saved a ton of money compared to smoking, despite having bought two regulated mods and two mech mods, a half dozen different tanks, to RDAs, kanthal wire in 3 different gauges, six 18650 batteries, Japanese cotton, ohms meter, and probably around 50 coils in the past two years. All combined I spent close to $700 in the past two years on gear, and you can add another $250 on DIY juice supplies if you want. Still just under a grand, but I smoked more than a pack a day so I would have spent over $4,600 in the same time frame if I still smoked.

So, in total for both me and my wife, if we rounded it up just to give a buffer we've spent about $1,300 on vaping in the past 2 years. However we would have spent nearly $9,000 on smoking. We've saved over $7,700. You would have to buy a gargantuan amount of vaping gear to make up that difference.

Saving money is one of the debatable benefits - I know of people that do and have, but many also that have been constantly in search of the next big thing. With smoking, there was this brand or that brand, and that was it. A means to an end only. With Vaping, as it is still in its infancy, its a world of constantly emerging technology. Give it another couple of years and it will have settled, until then the best plan is to find a setup that suits you, and stick to it, watching reviews of new products and applying some caution before leaping onto a new device. Changing devices is a way of life for some - and if it makes them happy then nothing wrong with it. But if you can find a flexible, reliable device that has some room for progression then I think this is all to the good.

If you are a seeker or feel you have to compete with the other vapers then you may well not save any money. If you find what you like and stick with it you can save money. And if you DIY your own juice as well you can save LOTS of money.
