A lot of items that end up in bulky or heavy will end up high shipping cost. If that is the case, you just have to decide are they worth it with the total cost including shipping.

They used to have free shipping for orders above $29 including clearance items. But got smart and changed that to exclude clearance items. The prices on non clearance items there is not that good, the clearance prices can be great as long as the shipping isn't too much

That seems to be the problem. All are clearance items.

I was going to place an order with HealthCabin of $197, but the cheapest shipping is DHL, which is $54. Is this typical? The items are clearance items.
When you check out use the "regular" check out button (not the PP button). From there you will get the USPS shipping options, and the choice to pay with PP.

I personally HATE DHL. They do not deliver to your door, they deliver to your local Post Office and USPS does the final delivery. Furthermore, if your package arrives to your town a few days early DHL will sit on it for days until the "estimated ship date" has been reached before even delivering it to the local Post Office. My last order that came via DHL sat a few miles from my house for 6 days before they gave it to my Post Office. I even called to ask them (at the 3 day mark) what the hold up was and was point blank told they were waiting until the estimated date had been reached.

I've had consistent delivery with DHL from HC, a week to ten days over a few orders. Maybe it depends on where you're located in the states.

The key to those clearances is to find things that the savings over other sources outweigh the shipping. Multiples of things you like and lighter stuff are the best ways I know to minimize that shipping cost per item. It jumps every 500 grams and for me, at 1000 grams and up DHL becomes comparable in price to the slow boat. I play "what if" with the checkout and adjust my order until it reaches just up to a place where the weight bumps up the shipping cost.

It is a pain though to put an order together over a bit of time as they clear it pretty quickly. I've printscreened them before just to have a record for when I'm ready to actually place the order.

Warts and all, sometimes they have a few really great deals that make it easy to justify the shipping and legwork.

Bummer. And that is weird because I get direct DHL items all the time. I have no idea who this company is anymore, didn't they go out of business for a few years? And now they are mysteriously back and it appears to me that my DHL stuff doesn't come from the local post office. So I'm not entirely clear on much other than my little brother bought a (refurbished) DHL van to tour the country in, and that thing was.... Not the best touring vehicle, to put it politely. :)

Sorry to hear about your experience. :(

I've placed several orders from both Health Cabin and from Heaven's Gifts. With both of them...the shipping was by DHL, and it wasn't cheap by any means.

However, with the shipping cost divided up and applied per item I was getting, every Clearance thing I was ordering was still a super deal to me. Just 1 item example from my last good-sized order: JoyeTech eVic VTC Mods w/Tron-S tank @ $2 each + $4.37 of the total shipping = $6.37 per kit! Can't beat that with a stick anywhere else that I know of. Shoot, if I'd found it in the US, there's no way that kit would have been just $2...and the S/H they'd charge would be about the same $4.37, or more! I could provide many more examples like that, too.

Each time DHL was the shipping option I chose, and I was extremely pleased with the time it took to get here. Also, every package was delivered to my door by DHL drivers, in DHL delivery vans. The longest it took any package...was 5 days from the date of my order, too!

Well, HealthCabin has deleted all my items (over 50) and they cannot be retrieved. I have tried everything. HealthCabin has made me sick. Oh well, live and learn.

I think we found the problem. Most websites calculate shipping for each item individually (as if you only ordered that 1 item) then add them together. So one order of two items will cost less shipping than one order of 50 items even if both orders fit in the same size box and weigh the exact same amount. It's not necessarily fair but it is usually the easiest way for them to calculate shipping so a lot of places do it.

Heath Cabin and Heaven Gifts both figure their shipping according to the total grams weight of all the items you order. At least it shows that on all of my orders from them. As you add items to your cart it shows the weight of each item. Then you can see the total weight at the bottom... that your shipping cost is based upon. It shows the cost of the items' themselves, the shipping cost and weight of all items, any discount given, and the final total.
