I'm going to hold up the opposite end of the spectrum, and say if you want to vape, vape. I was basically a nonsmoker and started vaping in april. I use a high watt device and inhale, and I also use nicotine. I will give you the warning that nicotine may be addictive, but may not be to some people. I've found it to be mildly addictive, but if I wanted to quit I could. I haven't noticed any negative side effects other than an occasional cough after vaping a lot (just clearing my throat, not a smokers cough) I've noticed that I'm calmer and more relaxed and I've cut down on snacking quite a bit. Now I'm NOT saying you have to use nicotine, that's completely up to you as an adult to decide, knowing the possiblity of addiction.

All these don't start replies....wow. I would rather see you pick up vaping rather than smoking. Vaping zero nic flavors, and not inhaling would likely cause you little to no harm when done occasionally and yes, it is fun. Do what you want to do. Listen to yourself, not those who cant stop being a parent or who are just plain condescending and self righteous.

I disagree with you on this. They use it as an excuse, nothing more. If not this, then they have a hundred others to throw at us.

That is what I meant. I think I just didn't explain myself properly. It is just an excuse but is the one that seems to be second on the list after the untested products part etc.

Picking up a potentially harmful habit just so you can feel normal around your friends is a childish decision and should be replied to accordingly.

Would I have had this viewpoint at 15-16 years old? Absolutely not its called being older and wiser not condescending or righteous.

I don't consider myself old but even at 16 I knew that smoking was the worst decision I ever made.

Geez! More ammo for ANTZ ... experienced vapers saying that vaping is harmful whilst at the same time pushing for vaping rights ... hope SIMON isn't reading this...

Most experienced vapers have never said vaping is safe, we have always said it is SAFER than smoking. That added R makes a big difference in what it means.

My friend was showing me his setup, andit seems like "fun" per say, as in when my friends go out for a smoke break, I can go with them and not look like an ... by just standing there, or staying inside by myself. I want to join them in the healthiest way possible

I'm not against you vaping but hearing you describe why you want to stand around with something in your hand / mouth sounded so much like why i started smoking, to be with my friends, because it was fun, etc.

Just iknow you are getting involved with soemthing that requires upkeep, that will cost money, etc. etc. unless you are at risk for smoking I am not SURE I would do it

WHy does everyone get so "preachy" when non-smoker wants to start vaping? Of course its "safer" not to start vaping , BUT put yourself in their shoes.

I think it was the way the OP "described" the situation.......it brougth back memories of how we started SMOKING

I think if OP had said they felt they were at risk for smoking, but wanted something safer, the answers would have been different

Agree.

Vaping is harm reduction.

MOST people who vape are ex smokers who switched to vaping because it is safeR than smoking.

If someone asks if I think they should do something that they pretty much say they don't want to do, why would I tell them to do it?

Im kinda lost here.... Did I miss the part that the OP said they did NOT want to vape? Cause if I did, then I misunderstood. If they were asking me for my opinion, and they seemed against it, Id tell them , good for you, dont let yourself be pressured into doing anything you dont want to.

What part of this
My friend was showing me his setup, andit seems like "fun" per say, as in when my friends go out for a smoke break, I can go with them and not look like an ... by just standing there, or staying inside by myself. I want to join them in the healthiest way possible
sounds like they want to?

I guess I read it a different way, if so, if he/she does not want to then by all means, DONT VAPE !!!! Just hang out and enjoy the company , not the habit :)

I guess Im kinda dense....

I don't think you're dense in the least. The OP came to this forum to ask how to vape safely. I don't think people who aren't interested in vaping do that ??

OP, if you want to vape, then vape. I admit doing it because your friends vape or smoke seems like a poor reason, but I'm old now.

If you want to vape just to vape then you should consider zero nicotine unflavored, go as simple as possible and inhale less stuff. Stick with a simple set up, some sort of variable wattage device and a clearomizer, read reviews and buy online. It gets expensive quick so don't try to make it a hobby, although it sounds like it's going to be.

Some people think vaping is almost reserved for exsmokers and smoking is a prerequisite. That doesn't make sense because smoking, vaping, drinking, and other habits start mainly from social interactions as you explained in the first post. If vaping is going to replace smoking like we want, people who never smoked are going to do it.

I think vaping is a good alternative, but I still treat it like smoking in the sense it's not healthy and my goal is to stop. It's a silly waste of money just like smoking, but do what you want, just be safe.

Vaping is not in any sense healthy, maybe I'm being picky, but your title should read "Least harmful way to vape". :D

This is in some ways how i started smoking. I wish i knew back then, what i know now. If OP wants to fit in that bad they will end up smoking,at least there is another option. My older wiser self says,be you and dont follow the crowd!! Dont be silly and think you should do it because they do it,ive done SO MANY stupid things for that very reason,i think most of have. When it comes to an addiction, its not so easy to turn around, just not worth it.
