The Bivouac Of The Dead.
By Theodore O'Hara, 1847

The muffled drum's sad roll has beat
The soldier's last tattoo'
No more on life's parade shall meet
That brave and fallen few;
On Fame's eternal camping ground
Their silent tents are spread;
But Glory guards with solemn round
The bivouac of the dead.

Freedom isn't free

Certainly not as eloquent as what was posted above but for what it is worth....
I thank everyone in our military for their sacrifices along with their families.

I cannot think of anything more noble or brave.

It saddens me that so much of society today has little regard for what these people do and little understanding of the importance.

I saw an elderly vet today and went over to shake his hand in thanks.
He was quite taken back by my gesture but accepted it with gratitude and remarked that it rarely happens these days.

So, next time you meet someone who has served make sure you show them the respect they deserve.
You have the ability to do so because of them.......
