Well... it might seem counter-intuitive, but it's true. Normally, all that cold air hangs out in the Arctic, as there is nothing there to dislodge it. But, if there is a convective increase in the atmosphere, it can destabilize things causing that air to 'lose it's anchor' if you want to call it that... and it squirts off and heads our way.

The atmosphere is a heat pump, moving warm air from the tropics into the sub-arctic regions. If the equatorial regions warm (which they are most certainly getting), then that heat pump gets turned up a notch and that leads to more whacky disturbances.... like it being warmer in Alaska than it is in New Orleans. Nature abhors a vacuum... so when that cold air mass moves out, the 'warm' air mass that dislodged it moves in... Right now, we here in New England, we're seeing temps colder than places Nome AK... which is nuts. Granted, this cold air will eventually move out and up there go back to their 'normal' colder-than-a-witches you know what.... But crazy weather events, like snow on Bourbon St. will become more common.

And on the other side of the globe, Australia is roasting, to the point where they've had to add new colors to those weather maps to account for the high temps.

I say this all with zero political agenda.... I am a scientist at heart (physicist actually), so the ideological noise coming from both ends of the political spectrum annoys me since it overpowers the science. Many of those climate scientists (I've known a couple) are being demonized when, in reality, they have their head so far in some meteorological instruments in some far off barren outpost that many would probably have a hard time telling you who is President or the House Speaker, nor would they care.... all they care about is the research. The public would be amazed at just how apolitical the scientific community really is.... they usually only get involved when they HAVE to... and even then, it's with reservations and they'll squirm when conversation turns to politics. They aren't used to nuance, and most aren't all that good at it.

But.. I digress...

The One really ticked me off because I believe that it/he was responsible the only time a post was banned on our huge thread.

Before your time and part of the reason that we ended up with our own forum. Well! THE ONE did NOT like getting tossed out. He kept coming back. Used other people's computers to make a new account with different names. OMG he had the Mods running all over the place. He did this for oh about two or three weeks. Just when we would think we had seen the last of him, up he would pop. He would create an account and send PM's to anyone who happened to be online to go over to this Great Forum he discovered elsewhere. Yeah, he wanted ECF to suffer the loss of members because they banned him. Of course none of what happened was his fault. *insert sarcastic emoticon* In a way we have him to thank for this great place we have carved out. I gotta tell ya, it was a wild bizarre ride for a while. THE ONE is from Australia, our poor Mods had to be busy when they normally would have been sleeping I think.

Classy nuked one of my posts because I mentioned the name of an illegal drug once. It was a totally benign reference but mentioning names of any illegal drug in any way, shape, or form is absolutely forbidden (even though I see it elsewhere and those posts are not nuked). I guess it depends on the mod and if they see it at all.

Yeah, it's pretty hard to notice every post that's made on ECF with unmentionable stuff, and words that are automatically censored are typed in different ways to evade the censors. So please, if you come across something that should need clean-up, feel free to report it up to us.


Here's the reason why we clean up drug related posts:

But it is useful to post it because I'm sure there are many who do not know.

What I found troubling was the infraction was titled "No references to sex or drugs are allowed" (or similar). So someone could look at that and think I were a pedophile or something. Kind of a classless way to title an infraction if you ask me. But I got over it.

The ones I wish would leave are those that aren't being supportive of the laboring woman. They can be obnoxious and smell and push the call light just so their dad can hit on me (true story), and they are still on my good side if they're being supportive. When they are making her uncomfortable or fearful or irritated... Then Id like them to leave. Doesn't happen too often

Pervert maybe, Pedophile..I don't think that infraction goes that far. Here's the wording of it: Posted on inappropriate subject matter: We do not allow discussions on illegal/illicit drugs or of explicit sexual matters, at ECF.

I spoke personally with a new member this morning. The members comments were something like,, he had joined another vape forum. No name mentioned. Said he/she read one post and deleted the account because of the language used.
This member also said that's why he/she prefers ECF. Because it's clean and well moderated.

Home early again, with time to myself. If my fingers weren't so tore up I'd proubably try and build something. But alas, I guess I'll just fill some tanks and maybe piddle. I happen to be a Professional at piddling. I can stay busy for hours just moving one thing to other place. Then play the "Where the heck did I put that?"

It takes a firm hand, and a lot of ignoring of the whining on other forums about how uptight and nazi like the mods are here at ECF to keep this place the way it is.

It's not without it's merits, but at times I wish I could just let loose and tear a strip off some of the folks that do that.

There was an episode not too long ago where some idiot vape show host and one of his cronies used the most vile and disgusting language against Classwife. I'd rather not have that kind of "freedom" if you will, expressed here. Call it what you will..

Dusty I totally agree. A while back I was watching a vape show. They were going to be giving away mods at the end of the show.
I'm thinking heck I may win something. All it took was about 5-10 minutes and the chat had me going elsewhere, to be polite. I couldn't believe the language that was allowed. I'll just stay in the shelter of ECF and thank the Moderators for all the hard work you all do.
And I can only dream of how much control you all have to have with certain people.

Exactly! So if someone mentions the name of an illegal drug no matter the context, no matter how seemingly harmless or benign, it can appear he is a pervert or using sexually explicit language. The dots should not connect. See what I mean?
