uvula is the name of the thingie in the throat :)

The riddle of the uvula. - PubMed - NCBI
Uvula, that's it! (just too lazy to look it up again)

Many times when I snore, my mouth is open for long periods of time causing the uvula to swell from dryness and vibrations from snoring. Upon waking and sitting up, besides it being really soar, it hangs down into the throat setting off the gag reflex, which is quite uncomfortable. Best relief I've found is to have an insulated mug of ice cold water next to the bed. The cold water relieves the swelling pretty fast.

Got to remember that word...

Good morning!

Looks like a nice cool and grey day here, and I'm finally not working. The last 2 days were awful. Wednesday I was charge and that's usually fine but I had to be very "charge-ish" and pull a nurse off the floor bc she was freaking out and not making good decisions. I was firm and she cried and that's just not fun.

Looking forward to the day off. 8th Grade promotion for my youngest tonight. Should be a sweet ceremony (it's a small school, maybe 50 kids).

One polyp found and removed. I got a cup of coffee there and an apple cinnamon muffin which was actually very good.
Stopped at Dunkin donuts, large coffee still in hand and Subway for lunch.

I'm assuming all is well since I didn't have a special conversation with the doc after (unlike the last time) and follow up appointment is the normal couple of weeks down the road (again unlike last time where I went for the follow up much sooner).

All in all, success. I did lose 3 pounds yesterday

A toast to NOT having to do that again for 5 years :toast:

Thank you all for the kind thoughts and caring

A single polyp sounds like no big deal. Especially how they easily remove them nowadays. Congrats kid!

Good Afternoon Army. Work week over
Dealing with something I've never had to deal with before - Poison Ivy. Until now I have been immune. I would just go uproot it to protect the kids (Youngest son especially) and never think twice. Sunday I was pulling out another small patch when one root broke and the sap soaked directly into my forearm. Didn't think much of it, just washed it off and rubbed a little 70% Iso on it for good measure.
Now I have bubbles that itch like crazy on both forearms. Remind myself not to touch/ scratch/ come in contact with, but not easy to do in the course of a workday. being away from home Sunday - Wednesday didn't help either.
So I get to spend my Friday Night taking Colloidal Oatmeal baths and applying Calamine Lotion. Yeee Haaa ! :p

Papaw , I used to run all over the swamps down here , pick poison ivy and poison oak , rub it on me and have no affect whatsoever . Now I can't use a string trimmer in my backyard without breaking out in a rash and suffering for days . Something in our body chemistry must change with age , it sucks getting old . :(

Robin, I am so glad they found it, and got rid of it for you!!! I know that must of been nerve wracking.

Papaw, get your wife to go to Wal-Mart, and get some Fels-Naptha soap. That will dry that oil up in a hurry. You are having an allergic reaction. Take some anti-histamines. I like the pink Calamine better than the clear. Stay out of the heat. Was this real poison ivy, or Virginia Creeper? I was always immune to this too. Then a few years ago, it started. I am highly allergic to that stuff now. I pulled up several of them lately. I guess the birds are eating the berries, and pooping them out, as they sit in the trees. I even found some in my veggie garden this year. Next time you are around this stuff, use throwaway gloves, and wash with hot water, and that Fels-Naptha, everywhere you think might have touched your skin. I don't even have to touch it anymore, to get a reaction. I am not a doctor, but I am telling you what HELPS me.

Amen to that, brother !
Just finished first colloidal oatmeal bath, 30 minutes worth. The directions said to 'pat dry' and allow the medicine to stay on the skin. So I did, and now sitting in the bedroom in my birthday suit feeling my skin draw up tighter.
I hope this crap works....
