Poison Ivy: Rhus tox. Kal takes a preventative every Feb (1 vial a week for 3 weeks, orally) and it keeps him out of the Dr's office. You can buy tablets for treatment as well but we haven't tried those.

Morning... Up since 4am on a Saturday.. Going to have to find something to help DH's snoring before I kill him.

Should see the doctor about that. Snoring means his air way is getting blocked.

Better....

Good Morning Army. Bridget that's the first time of heard of that Rhus Tox. But I will look into it.
Spouse snoring : separate bedrooms. He will absolutely despise this idea...at first. Mamaw and I have had separate rooms for over ten years now, and I wouldn't have it any other way. If I want 'a date', I just go to her. If I want privacy, I come back. Her snoring does not affect my sleep anymore. I can fall asleep with out hearing all about what some other woman does on her job. She doesn't have to get up at 1am or 2am or whenever it's time for me to roll out. I have the whole bed, and I do NOT have some DW breathing on me while I am trying to go to sleep. (pet peeve). I hated the very idea of separate bedrooms at first. But realistically, Mamaw and I have been together 30 years. The Honeymoon was over years ago. Now I enjoy having my own space and my own bed.
Someday, when you're an old fart like me, you'll see the wisdom in this....

Amen on the separate bedrooms. That's what we do.

It also keeps me from waking her up when I get up early in the morning, and she doesn't wake me up by coming to bed late at night.

Morning y'all

Bridget, has he tried those breathe right strips? My snoring essentially stopped when I started wearing my dental guard at night (keeps my teeth from grinding, in return my mouth isn't as tightly closed) and now I only snore if I forget it or if I'm overly tired.

Papaw stay away. All I have to do is look at poison ivy and I get covered head to toe. Hope your treatment helped.

Wish I could do separate bedrooms from the hubby. The man can't share space or blankets to save his life. I'd sleep a lot better not waking up with an elbow or knee shoving into my side.

What could possibly be better than fresh KGD cotton wick soaked in ten week old Legend ?
100% Rayon soaked in 15 week old Pirate's Booty, or Gaia. Both of which I have soaking at the moment. ;) Separately of course.

We've thought about separate bedrooms for a while (especially when she wants to send me to the doghouse). I think it'd be nice if we could do it all the time, since we're usually on different shifts - she's an early bird and I'm prefer waking and going to bed later. However, we'd have to pay extra for running another Air/Con all night.

I can relate to all this talk about poison ivy - my prickly heat hasn't totally cleared up yet. This is the worst I've ever had it since we've been here. There's also a few spots on my hips that I think might be fungus infections. Going to see the skin Dr. in the morning.

Another story about poison ivy: Back when we were teens my brothers and I would tramp along the stream at a nearby park, Stoney Creek Park. One hot summer day while frolicking in the water, we came across an old tree trunk that hung out over the stream tempting us to climb it and jump into the water. My younger brother Joel took the dare and started to climb up the trunk. It was to slick to walk out over the creek, so he crawled out on his belly and hugging the trunk. Of course he was in shorts and shirtless - it was HOT! SPLASH!!! Down into the water he slipped.

On the walk home he starts complaining about being itchy and by the time we made it home he was bright red from chin to belt-line and from where his shorts ended to ankle!!! We were not sure if it was poison ivy or poison oak, but that rash was the beat-all rash I've ever seen. Mom must have used a gallon of calamine that summer.

Sirius, I've never been good at distinguishing between the different sumacs. There are good sumacs too. You can make pink lemonade from them. Poison Sumac | The Poison Ivy, Poison Oak, Poison Sumac Site This website has an off shoot leaf photo, that would be helpful, if I could remember it...lol. My memory isn't so hot. When I was young, and interested in something, I had no problems with memory. Anyway, it seems we do have poison sumac here, so thanks for the warning.

This is one of my favorite sites. I found this on the rhus tox aka Rhus toxicodendron. So this is kind of like nature's allergy shot, without a shot. Well it is if I'm reading it right. This won't help with my Virginia Creeper allergy then. (or at least I don't think so)

Rhus toxicodendron - Homeopathy

<<<
Parts used
The homeopathic remedy rhus tox. is prepared from the poison ivy plant collected at night, as the oil enclosed by the plant is said to be in its most potent condition at this time. The leaves and stalks of the vine-like shrub are separated and pulverized into a pulp form and blended with alcohol. Subsequently, the resultant solution is filtered and watered down to the desired level. Precisely speaking, rhus tox. is prepared by means of an extremely diluted as well as properly prepared solution that obtains its base from the poison ivy plant.>>>
