Yep, these providers have us by the short hairs with their "bundles". It's a scam. Fortunately, I do not have my LAN with my cable/internet provider. I have Vonage. Had it for years...some 15 - 20 years. So I can ditch it and it doesn't affect my cable/internet package.
I'm hoping the quality of my mobile service remains the same. I have Verizon and this switch to Spectrum Mobile is an MVNO but they use the Verizon grid. I don't see any reason why anything should be different...a grid is a grid but then I'm not an expert on grids and I've learned over the years that if one can be surprised they will be surprised.
RTFM doesn't apply the key word in my post was "knowingly" . The dumbazz deliberately installed the wrong driver " Just to see what would happen "in his words . And then had the nerve to come on the forum and complain that the system should've stopped him . I might wanna whiz on a snowflake or two but I wouldn't whiz on him if he was on fire . Putting out the flames would be a crime against humanity .RTFM, my friend. No one is willing to RTFM.
I can’t get to angry about it though. I was paid nicely to provide tech support over the years.![]()
That's what I would think MP. I hear Xfinity Mobile is high quality. They've been out a little longer than Spectrum Mobile and the two are comparable from everything I researched. From what I could gather these MVNO's simply buy minutes from the carriers and there are no partitions or degradations or anything. You hop on the carrier's grid the same as if you had your account with the carrier. I'm just glad Spectrum Mobile uses Verizon because it's the only grid that works where I live.Technically it's exactly the same...
I have Xfinity mobile and it's the same setup with Verizon backbone... It's mostly all our fiber anyway![]()
What a mess!Oh Nooo. I just had a pizza fail...Part of the toppings stuck to the back of the toaster oven and pulled off. Guess I'll have to clean it before I use it again...

Same here Pap. But it also wigs out on me. Slows way down or just spins and does nothing. I would still use it but by switching to Spectrum Mobile I save $38/month. That was my motivation. But they make you buy their phones. Even with that I save $38. And the phones are paid for in two years. They charge no interest for them either. Prices seemed in line. $599 for an i8. I think thats about what they cost most anywhere. At least close.General, I thought I was the only person still using an iPhone 4. That's what my work phone is. It still works fine, but it's been a long time since I could update the operating system, so most current apps don't work on it. But it still handles calls, emails and texts just fine, and that's pretty much all I use it for.
Lol. These MVNOs just buy minutes from the carriers and resell them to their customers. Another way the carriers can expand their customer base. Spectrum is a monstrosity so I'm sure their relationship with Verizon is quite sympatico. Spectrum is basically Charter Communications and Time Warner Cable. They have to be the largest cable/internet company out there. Or at least close. Were you affected at all by the mass Verizon outage?
Hmmm... so these alternative carriers are a little like clones? [ducking and running——->>>>]

And if I ditch my LAN line that's another $38/month. That would be $76/month. Now we're talking some dough. Also, I'm thinking of dumping my garbage pickup at $35/month. I drive by a waste collection site all the time. It's easy in easy out too. So there's some more dough I could save.Wow. Saving $38/mo has made you mellow and happy. I like it.![]()
Never noticed.Oh! But was anyone affected by the recent mass outages? Mostly Verizon, but ATT also. Didn’t affect me. Most customers were on the East Coast.
YouTube had a global outage this morning. No explanations so far.
and since we are talking bills..... my water bill just jumped another 27$, now it 97$ for 2 months.
it was 68$ for 16Kgals every cycle... we ( wifey and I ) cut back on usage to keep the bill lower... we got it down to 11Kgal a cycle and the bill went up to 97$, seems they added some new cost recoupe for repairs... wonder how long its going to last... its been 13 yrs since Katrina and we are still paying "extra" for those repairs.... which makes me wonder... why do I have to pay for repairs that I had nothing to do with in the first place??![]()
I've never had an iPad and I'm thinking about getting one. Anybody have any thoughts of wisdom on the Pro vs. the regular iPad? I'm leaning towards the regular one with the 10.5" screen, but I don't know if there are features on the Pro that justify the extra cost for a regular schmoe like me.
