how much wood could a wood chuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?? about this much :)
The hardest part of cutting up the rest of the tree is figuring out which side is the compression side. I can't say I have ever cut a fallen tree like this one. It is not readily clear to me which side I should start the cut. The root ball is holding up one end. The other end is laying on the ground and the rest is elevated off the ground.

Just do it all VERY carefully. :)

I’m just carrying on, regaining my strength and enjoying my time off as best is can.

Yes, yes...very gentle hugs to you!!! And you know what sometimes useless TV does fit the bill...well maybe not.

Maybe I can cheer you up some more...I'll try. Here is a rose from our garden (from last summer). I know it's not the same as receiving a dozen!

And everyone loves puppies...right? Maybe not. This is Carli, although she is older and way BIGGER now!

View attachment 809977 Hey Arm. I’m deadski.
Whew...I do not envy you!

Last fall we took down two mulberry trees on our property. They were about 50-60 feet tall. The berries dropping on part of the driveway was the final straw!!! Messy, messy, messy.

Good Morning Army. Power was out for 11 hours. Told Mamaw that I was going into town for some coffee and ...
'as soon as I start the pickup, the power comes back on.
Mamaw fussed because I didn't start the truck an hour ago.

Have a Safe and Blessed Day :)

Glad your power came back on. Y'all got the storm that came through Texas first. There are still people here without power. One town had several transformers blow, AFTER the storm went by. The storm is still going on, and has sort of a horseshoe appearance if you look at the reflectivity map. I am glad y'all are alright Papaw. I wonder if Bronze is out of power?

My power came back on 30 mins after dragging out the generator.

Cutting up the main trunk on that red oak. Man is that thing heavy. Decided to jack up toward the middle to get the end off the ground. 3-ton jack and it lifted it about an inch, no more. Enuf to cut from the end. Think it will be OK now.

Today’s Random Repair Question!

I have an ancient (late 80’s/early 90’s) Pioneer CD player. It takes a cartridge that holds 6 CDs, which are placed with the printed side down and the playable side facing up. It still works!

Yesterday the CD in position 4 wouldn’t play. The tray mechanism stayed stuck and therefore the cartridge wouldn’t release. Fixed that with unplugging power cord, waiting, replugging.

I checked the disc to make sure it was okay. I never touch the playable surface of CDs or LPs. I’m OCD about it.

Noticed dots all along the outer edge - circled in red in the pic. It’s kind of oily. Cleans off easily with isopropyl alcohol. I have never opened the player or sprayed anything into it.

These dots were evenly spaced, suggesting as the CD spins, something is smudging the surface. This mostly happened to CDs that were in position 4 - the middle of the cartridge. Other positions may have had a random spot here or there.

My question for the mechanically minded among us: Where would you begin in an attempt to fix this?
