4th of July question...

With it falling mid week this year, how are places making it a long weekend? Or will things just be busy this weekend and next? Feels like this weekend is normal. So will people be off the 4th- next Monday? Just curious.

Used to be that folks were back to work on Friday. Some take a vacation day for Friday to make theirs a long weekend. I work weird hours and days, so my answer is that it depends on deadlines this year.

Worst thing about selling on eBay, besides their 10% commission plus PayPal’s roughly 2% — the buyer has a full 6 months to come back and ask for a full refund. There’s a lot of abuse of that fact, and eBay is not so much on the seller’s side in such matters.

Our office is apparently taking 4th and the 5th, but I'd bet that most companies will demand you book vacation if you want Friday. July 4th doesn't have the same ring about it here in Hawaii. I have been down and I mean dooowwwn for the last few days with the flu. Any suggestions for stopping the :censored: hard, hard cough? It's giving me headaches, and an even sorer throat, I stay awake all night coughing, coughing coughing AARRGHHH, keep hubs up. Only cures that wouldn't work is I don't drink alcohol...

Oh no! So sorry to hear you've been suffering. Sending prayers and hugs!

If you can sleep propped up with pillows, that helps. Also a humidifier to keep your airway from drying out. The old steamed water with a bit of Vicks menthol in it and leaning over with a towel draped over your head to breathe it in is helpful too.

The best remedy I know involves cupped hand percussive treatment as shown in this video around the 12:00 minute mark. The young woman has cystic fibrosis, which causes a lot of build up of thick mucous in the lungs. If hubs can do this for you, it's amazingly helpful. It will make you cough more at first, but that's because it loosens the mucous. It's a natural expectorant, which is the effect you need to clear out that mucous.

In the video, they do many types of treatment, but the one where he gently pats her side with cupped hands has worked well for us. Do one side, then flip and do the other. Also on your back over the lungs while sitting up can be good.

I am so sorry you have such a bad cough. Have you tried OTC cough suppressors? Just to get some rest?

Hang in there..

I had a home health patient that had CF. I was pretty darn good at CPT back then. It works for sure.

Things that are a total ripoff that we never question...

Withholding tax. We just assume it's the price of having a job.
Sleep. A third of our life is dedicated to sleeping. What a waste!

I found a way around the tax stuff.... dont work. dont earn money... and as far as sleep goes, try my schedule for 3 weeks... its not a waste but a luxury :)

if I had a choice... I wouldnt pay taxes at all... the amount I do pay wont even cover the cost of flower settings for the tables some Senators wife will spend setting up some dinner... o_O

saw this in some website on ridiculous governmental spending... a senators wife was spending over 15K$ a month on flowers for dinners. One time use for the dinner nite, the flowers got trashed after dinner... basically the flowers saw 3-5 hrs of usage. pretty much ran about 850$ an hour.... for flowers

just did some more math... thats 180K$ a year.... it would take me over 2 yrs to earn that... and some flower company put in mayyybeee... 1000 hrs labor ( cutting, setting up, delivery ), thats about 180$ an hour for material and labor.

We are on generator power here in Central KY. What a wind. A huge tree went down just as I was wrapping up my last saw job, missed the house but what a mess.
Oh, oh. Yep, fortunate it missed the house. Looks like you have to break out the saw again. What kind of tree?

Hula, I have made up my own cough syrup. I have heard this is good though.
Planetary Herbals :: Products It is pricey, so shop around. It will be found in natural food stores. I just realized they changed the formula a little. Look up reviews on Amazon, I bet it is still good.
Cherry Bark Tea for Coughs? - Ask Dr. Weil
3 Honey-based tonics that remedy cough
Pineapple juice is 500% more effective than cough syrup, study shows
In a pinch you could smoke some mullein leaves, but I doubt if there are any in the place you live.

Anyone who has abundant cucumbers and wants to try something different, refreshing and with a slight spicy kick, PM me and I’ll send you this recipe for cucumber kimchi.

The farmers market had beautiful cucumbers decently priced at 2 for $1. I made this on Monday and again yesterday. So great on these hot days, and an inexpensive, healthy treat.

The only unique ingredient is Korean chili flakes. They are mild and savory. Not expensive at all.

Took less than an hour to make this. The most time consuming step was those thinly sliced carrots. I do not have mad knife skills. :)

I'd like that recipe, you know how to reach me. I bet it is wonderful. I don't have that magic ingredient though, of course. :)

It was kind of neat. It was Walnut and a Maple that grew together and basically became one tree. Unique.

I just came across one of those. A poplar growing out of an oak. The poplar was smaller so I chopped it down so the oak could flourish. It was leaning fairly far too.

This was kind of neat, I have been watching it grow for years. I thought if it ever went down it would be in the pond. The winds here were so strong that it went completely the other way. The entire root ball has come up out of the ground, ferocious winds.

I’m voting for the pineapple juice recipe bc I know our island girl has lots of pineapple and the other ingredients are easy as well.

I knew you’d have a remedy @kkay59!
