Two and one-half weeks? That is an enforced quarantine, Terrible.

I will be interested in following this. I guess you will still be in the watch and wait to see if this fix is the real deal?
Yep. Not even totally confident this module will work at all. After all, it's a brain transplant. There are plenty of horror stories about these transplants for anyone who cares to look. And even if the truck does start, will it conk out again? In a week, a month, next year? You'll know this module has failed if you see a mushroom cloud to your east.

That's what I thought but I did not know of horror stories. If something goes wrong might it affect other systems?

That PCM (Power Control Module) controls a whole lotta things. It really is the brain of the vehicle. Not only does everything have to be right with the module but it has to match the vehicle. I'm lucky (I think) in that this is an OBD1 module (first generation) and isn't quite as comprehensive and complex as the OBD2 modules that came out in the mid 90's. OBD1s are plug n play. OBD2s require flashing (software configs) from the dealer probably because the module controls every damn function imaginable in the vehicle. Mine basically controls the engine and transmission only so less complicated (but still scary).

Best of luck. I'll bet the OBD 2 is expensive, given the module and the dealer flashing.

You would be correct, Sir. OBD1s cost hundreds. OBD2s cost thousands. Problem with OBD1s, however, is they continue to get more difficult to find (like all 27 year old parts). They're still out there but you just have to look a little harder. That wont improve with time. I really wanted to repair mine instead of a full transplant but the microprocessor crapped out and that is irreplaceable. Had to go with a reman.

Afternoon.... Went grocery shopping this morning. No I'm not wearing a mask. It wasn't busy and I'm keeping my distance. Even from the people wearing mask. And lots of hand sanitizer. It warmed up and dried out the yard so I cut the grass. Didn't want to because I'm still tired and sore, but I did it anyway. Calling for rain for the next week. I think it's about time for a pizza and beer. Ok beer has already started cause I'm not doing anything else..

It's time you get one of them dogs. Get two of them so they keep each other company while you're gone.

Agree and two are easier and better behaved than one. We've had two for years and when we would gone all day some times, they would have been good all day.

And what will be the penalty for failing to be chipped? The same as playing softball with your daughter is today?

no penalty.... you'll just find yourself waking up in an old nasty alley way with several sore spots and puncture marks spread across your body ( its done this way so you wont know where it was put in)... o_O:eek:
but you will end up with one.... resistance is futile...

wonders if the "brain" from the other vehicle will make yours behave like the other vehicle... if it does then your vehicle isnt yours any more its a reinCARnation of the other vehicle... so basically you will be driving around in someone elses truck...

If I flip the sun visor down and start putting makeup on then I know my truck will be a reincarnation.
