Our state mvd is the same, whether confused, incompetent, or malevolent. Oddly, their local office is the total opposite. They're even friendly and helpful

Our mail carrier is a lovely man! After our mailboxes were broken into, he took the time to bring our packages to the door even though they would fit in the box.

I’ll be leaving a note in our box to point out the forwarding order. He will see it and hopefully he’ll be able to get it sorted.

The locals may meet you at the grocery store, may know your neighbor, it behooves them to give a hoot about you.

lol it will work .... once... the click you will hear is it breaking

There is an auto parts store near by here that rents tools. A good rental may be what you need for your bands. Man, I haven't heard of or thought of bands for decades.

I have a 27 year old transmission. I have no idea how they do it now.

Spending a last full day in Vegas. Have I mentioned how bad the postal service is here? We have mail forwarding set up. One piece of mail from my bank was forwarded. The rest? Delivered to my mailbox.

I checked the status of my mail forwarding order. Still current, still in place.

I’m doing my car registration renewal. First, the smog check. I usually do the registration online. But guess what? They mail the stickers.

So today I’m off to AAA and their DMV kiosk to renew and get my sticker on the spot.

Anything the government touches turns to... :censored:

they dont even have to touch it ... they just think about it and the same thing happens... o_O

lol... maybe they forgot to change the guts out for SAE and left in the Metric... were you listening for the click with Metric ears or SAE ears?? ;)
So yesterday I went to the Raleigh store and struck out. Today I went to the Durham store and scored on one that works. It's still kind of cheesy but it does the job. What can I expect for $10? It doesn't really click but the ratchet head tilts. Good enough for $10. I measured the accuracy using an 8 pound jug of water. It's off 12% so I'll just add 12% to the setting to compensate. Whatever. Like I say, $10. While there, I bought another one in 1/2" drive (for $10). Goes to 150 ft-lbs. Used it on my lug nuts. Worked perfectly fine.

Again,

hmmm... okay, lets evaluate your 10% factor of error. did you fill the jug and used it as is or did you put in 8 lbs of water into the jug and weigh it to make sure it was 8 lbs.? and was the fulcrum exactly 12" long from the pivot point and the point of attachment of the jug? anddd... was the center of the wrenchs point of rotation dead on with the pivot point? if you filled an old gallon jug with water and used a rod about 12" long then most of your error is in the weight of the jug... a gallon of water weighs 8.34 lbs ( theres 5% of the error) and the jug has weight and the rod has weight and the connecting rod/cord has weight, add in all of those too and you will probably be closer to the 10% error... plus the cheap ones become a bit more accurate as the torque increases...

was working on the 3D printer most of the day... was tweaking the motor outputs as far as the movements go... you have to tell the code exactly how many "steps" the motor will make to get 1 full rev out of it, in my case, the motors are set for 200 steps per rev ( or 200 1.8 degree moves)... I was wondering why the Z axis was moving so sloooowwww and kept falling behind... it was set for 5000 steps per rev and for 50 steps per second it was taking about 100 seconds to move 10 mm... o_O... got it set up correctly and now it zips up and down a bit too fast

btw I got some Goslings Ginger Beer... rather neat stuff, has that peppery ginger bite to it... think Ill have another too :)
