Veggies are doing well in the cage… if you don’t count that I’m still battling aphids and now also spider mites. It’s gonna be a miracle if I get any tomatoes or peppers.

But the potatoes and shallots are doing really well so far. I’ve already mounded up the potatoes once. The sweet potatoes didn’t sprout so I’m gonna need to adjust my method and start over from scratch.

I heard a rumor that your leaf spring bushings need replacing. :)
Not imminent but eventually. :)

You had to scratch your itch but I suspect you’ll be undertaking a new hobby next year. Too many critters working against us. Now you know why our store-bought produce has pesticides on them.

We will see, but I planned for this to be my learning year. If I had addressed the aphid issue right away, the plants wouldn’t have gotten so weak. I just didn’t realize what I was seeing.

I do see why pesticides are on produce. But that’s a tricky topic. Rather than rant, I’m trying to grow my own without using any. :)

I tried three years in a row to grow veggies. I gave up. The critters always won whether they be winged, hooved, or pawed. Maybe you'll have better luck out west.

I sure hope so. Gonna do my best and take what I learn to next season. When I had gardens in the 80’s and 90’s it really wasn’t this hard. But I have that German stubbornness in me. Time will tell.

Hello everyone. Supposedly we are in the track of severe thunderstorms. More like severe thunder sprinkles. Hopefully there will be cooler weather for the next few days.
When we bought this house 18 years ago, I surprised Mamaw with a new living room suite. That's not good enough anymore. So we went furniture shopping today. She walked through three stores, complained about the prices, and said "I'm tired, let's go home.".
Getting zucchini, potatoes and cucumbers out of the garden. Nothing quite like fresh produce.

Try going to High Point and all those furniture joints out there. Short ride for you guys.

Wow, your stuff is ready already? Critters are eating my cabbage, kale and strawberries.

Have you tired simply spraying soapy water on the aphids and mites ?
I used to do that with my roses.
