Something tells me nascar is going to ban that.

For now they aren't going to do anything. But by the start of next season maybe. I'm not sure it could even be don e again. That's something where everything would have to go just right and have some luck...

I'm getting forced, kicking & screaming, into setting up a new PC. I'm currently running Win 8.1 and just took delivery of a new PC running Win 11. I suspect that my ancient Win XP programs will not be recognized by the new PC because they probably have elements of Flash in them.

Does anyone have any recommendations or reviews on MS 365/One Drive as a cloud back up system? I would like to include some MP3's in the cloud storage, but didn't know if MS would be like Google and Amazon and stop letting you store music files on their servers.

I think I have a virgin hard drive that I can use as a new back up location, and currently am using something called NTI backup now EZ and a Click Free drive to have 2 back up hard drives.

The old 8.1 PC still works, so I should have access to it for using my MS Office 2000 suite. I mostly used Word and Publisher and hope I can still network it to the new one without going on the internet after security support ends. I use Acrobat a lot, and do have new CD's with a current version of Acrobat, so I think I'm good there, and I use Malwarebytes for my security.

I had a brief scare when Amazon made changes to their Prime Music and my purchased albums got caught up in shuffle-gate. I pitched a fit, and I think they have my purchased music working properly again. I wondered if there might be some way to have a player that would work with my Echo devices without using the bluetooth. I have a quirk of architecture in this house that has allowed me to place my Echo tower in a certain place that turns the whole space into a giant speaker cabinet so I can hear the music through the whole house. It sounds better than any stereo system I ever had, and I really don't want to lose it. The voice remote is the best way to control this Echo, and it works over the bluetooth.

I've read a few of retic's posts about Linux, and actually considered going that route. In the end, it looked like it would take more computer smarts than I have, and likely wouldn't work with any of the software I currently know and use. I really did like the idea of having a dual system that would run something old like XP for off-line, and something newer for on-line security.

Yeah, I don’t doubt ret for a second but you have to be somewhat of an enthusiast.

Afternoon... Got shopping done. I won't be doing any leaf blowing. I think every leaf on the street is now in my yard. Because of the wind. More wind tomorrow but not as much so maybe I can do something about then. I will have ALOT! of leaves at the end of my yard...
I can relate.

Doing a dual boot with XP is easy , the Linux installer does all the work for you , Windows 8 and above is trickier , that's the point that Microsoft decided your computer belongs to them . You're just borrowing it . Sorry I can't help you with MS's cloud software , I've removed it several times from my W10 drive , Winbloze update reinstalls it on occasion . I'm sitting on 3 ssd's and a conventional HDD in my system , no use for the cloud .

I'm still running 8.1 because I want to do things my way. They did manage to sneak in that update to remove my flash player, but I've managed to prevent any other updates or Win10. I heard that the new Win's won't let you disable auto updates, but I'm starting to run into programs that aren't backwards compatible to 8.1.

I have a basic business plan for O365. I don‘t use Publisher but I looked it up and it is included in the Home plan. I do rely a lot on OneDrive but for backing up some files, not for system backup. Just not a fan of cloud backups.

I store many file types on OneDrive, but not MP3’s. You should be able to. I haven’t seen any limitations other than storage space. On my plan it’s 1TB.

Oh, to be young enough to love a big pile of leaves to jump in. Back in the day, we didn’t even mind having to rake up the pile first. With rakes! By hand!
