Scruff is enjoying it.
Afternoon.... Nice out today.. Mid 70s. Got the yard mowed and treated the yard for insects.. I think I'm done for the day...
I posted the same pic. Lets try that again...
Been working on new fire pit. Have all the blocks located but have to wait for my steel firepit ring. Should be here Tuesday. Come to realize you gotta have a steel ring else the blocks will disintegrate with that heat.
Morning.. Happy Mothers day to the all Moms. Had an unexcepted guest this morning.. Just as my breakfast was done cooking Scruffy dashed in and tried to get under the oven cart. Figured he brought something in or chased it in. Well Scruffy backs up and a young squirrel makes a run towards the door but ends up behind the water heater. Open the door so it could see a way to run out. Nope it's confused and goes through the kitchen to the living room behind stuff to keep away from Scruffy. The next 5+ minutes it's back and forth living room to water heater. While I figure out what to do. It doesn't realize it's passing the open door each time. So I get it in the lining room and manage to get a small towel over it and take it back outside. The older squirrels know not to come in the fence.
We had a bumper crop of acorns last Fall. We get them every few years but this one was especially large. Way more acorns than the wildlife could stuff in their faces. Let me tell you, the squirrels this Spring are as big as I have seen them. Big fat slobs! I imagine the deer are huge too but the ones around here stay deep in the woods during the day so we don’t get to see them often tho signs of them are all over the place. They’re smart enuf to show up at night only.
Hey Arm. I finished staining my five garden benches around the fire pit. The steel fire pit ring is supposed to be here tomorrow but we have rain in the forecast over the next couple days or so. I'd like to finish that fire pit this week. I have a black snake living in my working stack of firewood. He likes sticking half his body out when you walk by. Need to get a machete.
I know. I’m just acting like a tough guy. I have no beef with snakes. Not even venomous ones. In fact, they fascinate me. I live-catch snakes and run them back out in the woods. I’m not afraid of snakes when I know where they are. Not a fan of them surprising me. And I don’t need them hanging out in my firewood rack.
And just as I say the deer never come out during daylight I just had a doe stroll right past me whilst sitting by the firepit. She never saw me. Took her time. No hurry. Usually the girls hang out in groups but she was by herself this time.

Perfect! I just mowed the lawn too so don't have to mess with that for awhile. The steel fire pit ring I ordered got lost in the ether so I have to reorder it. Fire pit remains on hold. I might build a table over the weekend.
