Maybe she likes "standing out" from the carpet in case you trip over her..... LOL

Haha! She is good at getting out of my way as I move through the house. One thing she learned very quickly is I don't stop short to miss her, I have enough back pain and stopping like that makes it worse. I got her tail once really good and she won't let it happen again lol

She used to be my sisters cat, then my mom's cat for about 7 years, I guess she is my cat now and we get along really well but she has had to learn some new things, like very regular nail trims and brushes.....and her first bath today. She sheds more than any animal than I have ever see and I can't handle the hair on everything. The bath went pretty well but she nailed me once pretty good with some back claws, lesson learned on my end lol

I am not much a cat person at all but if she can put up with me I can put up with her, and she is my only companion now since my dog died.

Robin, what type of cancer?

And Sam, sorry to hear about the loss of your Mom.

The same colon cancer. Theory is some cells got out when the original colon section was removed. Stuck itself to my omentum. Now we are working on getting me into remission and then talk about the next steps.

Good to see you posting!

Good morning Army:)

Weird sleeping night last night

Me too, I skipped sleeping altogether last night. Past two nights for me sleep is near impossible, and with the medicine I take this is kind of weird, normally I sleep the exact same every night. Last night I went so far as to drink a bottle of that "Not your father's root beer" and was (for me) pass out drunk (I have no tolerance to alcohol) yet STILL couldn't sleep..

Good morning to you and every one else!

I have had sleep problems for years. I've found that melatonin helps me to fall asleep. I didn't say it was magic and that it always does the trick, but it is better than nothing. Some days no matter what I still can't sleep. I usually take 3mg. I can take 6mg now and then, if I know something is going on the next day and it is critical I sleep. If I try to take 6mg consistently, it is worse than 3mg. Some people take Valerian Root. It didn't help me sleep at all really. It just relaxed me a tiny bit and that was it.

Sam your new cat is beautiful. I think she has decided you and your home are now both her belongings!
My dog is about to have her 3rd birthday already. I can't believe how time flies.

I still can't get over all the HHV army folks showing up. It is good to have you back. You were all missed. Now where in the heck is PapawBrett?

I am in disbelief that @SamuelMSr was able to accomplish bathing a cat. o_O And I can't believe that those scratches are all you got, Sam!

There's a cat challenge I saw recently where people were putting a piece of paper on the floor or using tape to make a square on the floor. Then they filmed their cats seeing it and sitting in or on it. I don't know if cats love squares so much as they love to claim anything in their territory.

This guy has the sweetest personality - until you try to put him in a carrier. I have a scar on my back from his back claws. That was the time two of us tried to get him in a carrier. He scrambled through my hands, around my side and launched himself off of my back! Rear claws are no joke!

@SamuelMSr --still using my ancient laptop with XP, it was the wifi router giving me trouble the whole time.
Y'all- my oldest starts college in a few weeks! We gained a sweet young lady in our family last fall . She and my youngest son will be seniors in high school this year. I'm not that weepy and sad type- I'm excited for them and me!
I still run, added biking and some light strength training.

I'm working on repainting my front door this weekend while most of the fam is gone trout fishing. Exciting life.. I know y'all are so jealous!

Time flies! And I'm glad it's not making you all weepy. After all, they are supposed to grow up and fly on. :)

But nope, I can't be jealous of your painting. My last bout of that was 2 yrs ago and I STILL don't wanna hold a brush or a roller for a good long time to come. ;)

Cats become more and more dependent on people as they age. By the time they turn about 10ish all they want to do is hang on you.

Get DH to hit you over the head with a baseball bat. You'll sleep fine. :)

I pull carrier out a day or two ahead and let the cat get used to it. Then when I stick her in I pick up the cat (without letting her see the carrier) and shove her in azz-first (backwards). Always worked for me. When I tried head first all four legs spread out and she wouldn't fit in the hole. Looked like trying to walk through a door with an umbrella.

See, that would have been the smarter thing for me to do. Instead, I just bought one of these Sleepypods. It's fur lined - soft and cozy. Both cats love to sleep in it. Whoever is in it when it's time to travel, gets the comfy bed! If we traveled more I'd have to buy another.

Some cats allow you to bathe them. I used to have two cats, one was a Siamese and the other was a Ragdoll, the Siamese was great at bath time, he would sit there long enough to get cleaned, but there was no taking my time at it or he would simply leave when he felt like he was done, but if I just got down to business and washed and rinsed him, I could get him through an entire bath, but he wanted to air dry, there was no using the blow dryer on him.

My ragdoll was different, he hated a bath, I had to wrap his feet in a towel to lessen the bloodletting, but he would sit pretty as you please for the blow dryer when we were done with the bathing part.

Cats are funny, and each has their own personality. I do bathe my (current) cat regularly, the one I have now doesn't appreciate the joys of cleanliness, but I can generally get through it without getting scratched up too terribly bad. Probably more to do with practice at this point. Lol..
