Well late this afternoon I had just washed my hair. I was about to go to my mom's and let her puppy work off some steam. I get a phone call, and it is my mom. She told me the pup was too much for her, and to come get her. I was in shock. I thought she is just overwhelmed with the energy of the puppy, and I can give her some ideas on how to make it better. I have a lot of experience with puppies and dogs, and I could figure it out. I said I would be right over, I was about to go there anyway.
Mom said keeping up with the puppy was too much. The puppy did what puppies do. When I was at the lady's house who had her, I knew she had needle sharp teeth and sharp claws. Well I called Mom to make sure she wanted to deal with this, and she said yes. So I was not happy about it at all. I mentioned a few things, but Mom wasn't interested in hearing it. So I talked to my daughter who lives an hour away. My daughter also spent HER free time searching for a dog for my mother too. So by then it was past my supper time, and I said I'd go eat, and then come back. I did let my mother know my feelings about it. I also let her know this was it. I am not looking for another pet for her, whether it is a dog, cat or bird. So I went and had supper, and called my daughter again. She had an idea, and maybe it will work and maybe not. I took the puppy to my place for the night. You can imagine the uproar it caused over here. I have my dog who is 86 pounds or so, my son's dog who is still here. (he is not in good shape, and he is very old-my son needs to take him to the vet if you know what I mean) My daughter's old cat is here, and the wild kitten that was left here that I took in. I was most worried about my dog initially, and how she would deal with this. She doesn't like strange dogs or cats. Family pets are okay, outside of the inner circle are NOT. Luckily the dogs have a crate here.
So my daughter's idea is to let me take the pup for most of the day, and let here spend a little while with Mom each day. (or I could keep her overnight etc...) Mom didn't seem too keen on that idea. She looked exhausted. So I just told her I'm taking the puppy tonight, and we can discuss it again tomorrow. After an hour and a half things are finally calming down around my house. Thankfully the puppy is now tired, and that helped. My dog is nervous and panting like a freight train. The old saying no good deed goes unpunished seems to ring true here. Well tomorrow will be a new day. I hope my mother decides she's made a big mistake, and just needed rest. If I didn't have my son's dog already here, and my dog accepts the puppy, I'd just keep her. But I didn't get her for ME, I got her for my mother. Mom has always had a dog, but she hasn't dealt with a puppy in a very long time. I will update on this later. I'm pretty perturbed right now, so I need to cool off.
