Well, this years work/insurance health screen includes blood nicotine testing, $40/month extra if its in there. Sigh...

So who knows how long it takes to clear blood?

I'm leaning towards 4 days.

They should differentiate nicotine by where it comes from. No idea how long it takes to clear the blood.

Whether they should or shouldn't they don't, I'm researching. I'm thinking I don't really care too much. If I pay more then so be it. No reason to lie or try to navigate my way around the system.

RJ I'm so glad you are here. I was feeling like Chak talking to myself!

Both my girls had palate expanders. Not the most fun but they work.

Enjoy your Turkey.

Haha! Chak is a sweety isn't he?

For those wondering and have never heard of them (like me), google "rapid palate expander" and look at the pics. Luckily, some of his friends had them too so he knew what to expect. And of course he's my big man and hopefully will breeze through this.

He's taking a nap...and I may be there soon. Love me some naps!

Some hospitals around here made a policy that they will not hire people who use nicotine. Check your policies. For $40 a month, I'd quit for four days. Damn straight. That's a lot of money to me.

I should have said "new" hires...they won't fire people that already work there.

Speaking of jokes... Somebody was at it again this morning. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ussion/399529-advise-members-who-spam-pm.html

Must not be that great over where he's at since he is still trying to get people. Must be lonely living in the bottom of the hole he dug

Yes, that's the case here as well. New hires must be nicotine free (includes patch etc).

I have to wonder how they get around doing this in non-right to work states. Or any state, now that I think about it. Seems to me that using a legal product on the employees time is not grounds to fire an employee. I guess since smoking is "bad" the rule of law does not apply. Nice! I like how SNUS, which has a proven safe health record is included in this "no hire" policy. But it sends a great message to the children, does it not? They have a "zero tolerance" policy!

So the rule of law goes, so goes the Republic...

So someone that has this done to them should take it to court? It seems as that would be the only way to make a change....

I know, but who wants to deal with that? I wouldn't. I would either quit using or change careers. Too bad, though. I bet there are lots of talented nurses and doctors who will no longer be helping patients because of this mindless regulation. But such a powerful message this sends. The symbolic stand of the health care industry. Standing up for....uh....well....err.....something that tells tobacco users they mean business!

I suspect they will be denying us 'nicotine users' health care before much longer. I am pretty sure the Hippocratic oath says it only applies to non-tobacco users, anyway. I am gonna stop now. This sort of thing puts me in a very dark mood.

Why stop at smoking? The hospital ought to ban the hiring of employees who are overweight too. And any who drink. Or live next to power lines. Or whose cholesterol level is too high. Or diabetics. Hell, why stop at smoking? After all, we need our government to tell us how to live.

AZ is a right to work state and they can decide not to hire based on nicotine use. It's new this past year, I've read our policy, I'm sure it's just insurance rates.
