Biv, that was OldSoldier's April Fools prank. He basically said that they were going to do away with all the subforums, and just have one large forum for all the posts.

Can you imagine wading through 13 - 15000 posts a day trying to find your posts?!

As for the forum, it's running pretty spiffy here..

It's painfully slow for me, but I figured it was just due to my 'in the sticks' internet. Other sites aren't as slow tho.

I'm so sorry to hear about your awful evening, Slim. That's pretty scary, since I'd convinced myself that Paypal's pretty safe. Please do keep us posted on what happens with that and if you get it back. I hope you do and that things look up; and I hope everyone's Tuesday flies right by in a distinctly un-Tuesdaylike way!

It's painfully slow for me, but I figured it was just due to my 'in the sticks' internet. Other sites aren't as slow tho.

I think it may have to do with how many hundreds of people accessing this site at one time. It also depends on what browser you're using, I think. It is actually quicker for me on my iPad which uses Safari. On my desktop computer, I'm using Explorer and that is slower.

Someone might be able to chime in about Chrome or Firefox and if those are faster browsers.

Someone might be able to chime in about Chrome or Firefox and if those are faster browsers.

I switched from Explorer to Chrome a few months back because I tired of Explorer and all their problems (speed, ads, hacking exposure, etc...). Chrome is much faster. Have at it Robin. It's two different worlds and there are enough of us on this thread using Chrome that we can answer any questions you have. But it's simple to use. I haven't used Firefox so I can't speak to that. I've heard mostly good about FF.

I think Mr Robin uses Chrome. He'd be able to do all that stuff for me. He's my computer guy.
I was trying to help Bridget. She says that ECF is slow to load on her computer but doesn't have that problem with other sites.

Chrome here too. I switched from Firefox which was infinitely better than Internet explorer.

One of the best features for me with Chrome is its ability to synch your profile automatically on any computer you use. This brings favorites, start pages etc over from one computer to another. All you have to do is login using your gmail account.

Seeing as how I use approximately 4 to 5 computers a day, it makes my life a heck of a lot more organized.

It's the fastest of the big browsers out there too, as long as you don't load it up with games, apps and unnecessary extensions.

As Robin said, there are a lot of variables involved regarding connection speed. The Internet is only as fast as it slowest link.

Yeah, that is what I used to use before I switched to Chrome. It's just that with Chrome it's a seamless integration using your email, whereas with FF you have to setup from one PC to the next using their proprietary synch software and interface.
