Do you remember your worst beat?

Absolutely. Poker Stars weekend tournament. There were 39 players left and I was in 4th chip position. You know how those tournaments pay out, with 39 left you still ain't getting much money, gotta get to the final table to get much of anything at all.

In a hand with a guy with not quite as many chips as me. If I win the hand I vault into first chip position and can just coast to the final table. I have the nut flush on the turn and he shoves. I call of course. He flips over.... nothing.... but a gutshot to a straight flush, one out. He hits it. I lose like 80% of my stack and go out a few hands later.

Yikes! THAT is a bad beat.

I also remember the worst beat I gave someone. I had AKs and raised it pre-flop. Some guy called and the flop came out 44Q. I thought I had the nut flush draw and I shoved. The guy called and flipped over QQ. Guess what? Runner-runner 4's for me, and I beat him with 4 of a kind. The guy actually cursed at me. :D

What's your favorite poker book? Mine is Harrington on Poker.

Oh wow, I dunno. I have a billion of them. Harrington's books are legendary of course. If pressed I'd probably go with a relatively little known title, "Small Stakes No-Limit Hold'em" by Ed Miller, Sunny Mehta, and Matt Flynn. It's one of the best cash game books I've read.

What about the worst book? I think it's Phil Hellmuth's Play Poker Like the Pros. Online Poker by Doyle Brunson was the most useless.

I've heard good things about one called Kill Everyone. Ever read that one?

Yes, and Kill Phil also, by the same author. :)

Wow, I guess you're most likely a shark then.

I played for several months on a site called PurePlay. I imagine you've heard of it. You pay $25 a month. Their highest paying tourney is the $5K on Saturdays. Since 1.5K players register, it basically translates to about $3.50 per player, which is pretty pathetic. I once placed third and won $500, but it took me more than 4 hours. I wanna find a site that offers higher paying tourneys.

Trying to decide which juices to put in the cases.... hmmmm?

It's honestly a special one:closedeyes:. And the forum's been lucky to enjoy it for a year - :toast: to you, RJ!

Finally caught up, but I'm in the midst of a doozy of an all-nighter (at a Greyhound bus station, at the moment...), so I'll save some of these multi-quotes for later. But, 'til then, I just wanted to thank you all so much for such wonderfully warm words in this catch-up - truly meant more to me than you know right now - and to send a belated congrats to RJ! Hope today's a pleasant start to a lovely week for all of you and that your Monday vapes are most magnificent:vapor:!

Awww shucks Becky........thank you.

Well.. I gone dun it.... my VT is back. blast....I probably should have left well enough alone and just stuck to my VT treatment plan :) but I got a ton of juices in and got a little heavy handed again... POOF...

So it is back to teatoddling MBV +1 Ecto Cooler in a rda and the occasional drag off Dragon's Fire in a tank. But whatever it is is hitting my NETs harder than everything else, so they might have to go on the shelf again for a bit. :(

I guess the silver lining is that I can focus on some new hardware on my next vapebuy... some more RDAs, maybe a RSST...maybe even a mech like a K100 or something. Now that I am getting comfortable wrapping my own coils, I might pick up some 28 or 30 and wrap in the mid/high 1's for that mech. :)
