#My vape story#
I started vaping November 24, 2015 at 5:37 p.m. How can I remember the exact moment? It's a long story... grab some popcorn and read on...
I had spent most of the month of September with my father. He was in the hospital suffering from COPD and something else. After more biopsies than I can remember, the determined that is was small cell lung cancer, and that it was not treatable. The news was devastating, but rather than succumb, my dad gathered his strength and put on a good show as we toured the hospital grounds and spoke. His one request of me was to "Quit those damn cigarettes before they kill you, too!"
That's what he asked of me, but he was so hooked that, at the end, he was still sneaking outside to smoke a cigarette from time to time. Nearly set himself on fire trying to smoke while on oxygen, too.
As I was heading back to my parents home again in October, I got a call from my mother that my dad had passed. It was 2 a.m., October 24, 2014. My father was 69.
Although my father put on a good show right up until the end, I was terrified that I would not be able to fulfill his final request of me. I had already tried the patch which did nothing except leave a nasty rash, and the gums and lozenges just wrecked my tastebuds. I had tried acupuncture and hypnotism and those were failures, too. Cold turkey was out, as well, as I had family members at home that smoked and did not want to quit. I was down to the pills. The ones that have suicide warnings on the labels...
My doctor wrote the scrip for me, though, and I was at the pharmacy picking up the pills when I saw my first eGo kit. I had tried cigalikes before, but they just didn't satisfy. This looked bigger and more powerful. I bought the kit along with my scrip.
In my car, I tossed the scrip into the passenger seat and opened up the kit. I scanned through the manual, filled the 1.8 ml tank, attached it to the eGo battery, turned it on, and took my first vape.
Everything changed!
Of course, a single eGo kit is not going to help anyone stay quit for too long, and I wanted my family members to benefit from this, too, so I bought about a dozen eGo kits. A couple for my Stepdaughter, a couple for my Stepson, a couple for my Mother, and a couple more for me. As a family, then, we quit smoking.
The eGo pens do not last long enough, though, and over time, I began to add to it. Today, I would have to call myself a collector. But it's not a collection without rhyme or reason. I have started a blog and a Youtube channel, and I am working to convert smokers to vaping by reviewing devices, providing tutorials, giving away kits, and promoting vaping at every turn.
Thanks for this contest @Vera / Evan. I've always been a fan of UD products and have many of their RTAs. It's nice to see them getting into the mod market, and I look forward to putting this device and tank through its paces.
