I'm not sure if this is an urban legend or a myth but some say not all of us are trap into smoking because of the nicotine only..

I have a buddy of mine whose been vaping and smoking for the past one year. Though his ciggarattes intake has decreased but he still needs them from time to time.

Some of the old folks who work in tobacco factories explained to me there's this special room wherby only selected personnels are able to enter. Some say they induced tobacco with other addictive chemicals.

So some of us are highly addicted to nicotine while some of us might be addicted to this unknown addictive chemical.

As I stated above, this could be just an urban legend.

Well my buddy here still vapes and smokes and he really tried his best but he can't.

I have not read through the whole thread but the tough love rant was very entertaining! I can totally relate to the "old habits die hard" comments too!! Just as I sometimes find my left hand fishing around in the car door storage space looking for the pack that has not been there for 3 months, I could see maybe inadvertently throwing the E out the car window! However, flushing it?! No, have not smoked in my house for years.

Anyway, I am still in that frustrating land that is probably known to anybody who ever tried to quit analogs. My latest experiment was to try a JoyeTech 510 T. I want to divorce filler and the harsh hits that come with it and the cracking, leaking kr808 clear carts. I guess I am still hung up on the small form factor. To save money and have the color options I wanted, I pieced it together through parts. All with one supplier. I have discovered that as one new to vaping, it helps for me to have something I like to hold and look at. My copper 510T came in the mail an hour ago. It sure is sleek and understated.

I was so excited until I opened the box marked Joyetech 510T cartridges. The online description is "transparent black". First glance made it clear that you could not see through these with a lighthouse lamp! I got a little queasy. When I popped the cap off the atty end, I wanted to scream. There it was, a nice little sponge of poly where a soft plastic wall should have been. Needless to say, the rather well known supplier, got a very inquiring email from me shortly after. I have ordered with them before, no problem. But now I have to look at this whole new unit with a jaded eye. Thank goodness it didn't cost that much. It would not surprise me if I got no response to my request for a shipment of what I was told I was getting. Supplier will remain unnamed while they figure out what to do with me.

In any case, I think it might be past time to just go to an E Go tank system right now. There, I feel better now!! Going to cut my grass. Good one to all.

I an sorry that you are having a hard time right now, I have only write smoking five days ago myself, and for me, only the first two days were brutal. You see, I found out that the technique to smoking an e-cig, as opposed to an analog is entirely different, and since I've corrected my form, I have not had even the slightest craving for a real cigarette. I foud ouut that nicotine from a regular cigarette reaches the brain in only 8 seconds, and out done properly with an e-cig, it will take thirty seconds, so I think part of this is patience...if you try to do it quick, you probably won't get adequate nicotine in your bloodstream. Try slowly but steadily pulling the vapor into your mouth, and then hold it there for about two seconds before drawing it into your lungs, after another two seconds, release the vapor through your nose. Figure that 12 minutes of capping is equivalent to five minutes of smoking.

Beyond that, yes, I would definitely consider getting both 18 and 24 mg liquids. The most satisfying one I have found so far is from highbrow liquids,in fact everything I tried from them was amazing. But the best was securely RY4. Which is a tobacco blen vape withalmond, hand a hint of carmel. I know you think it might sound too fancy, but I think it's divine, and my body thinks it's the best "cigarette" I've ever smoked.

As far as devices go, I'm using the 510 ONE from aquavapor, and not having any problems with it. Got a 2 battery starter kit with loads of extras for under eighty dollars. I hope some of this helps you get I've the hump!

I'm 48 and have been smoking about 1 1/2 packs a day of (most recently) Parliament Menthol (lights) for the past 32 years. I found this board last week and read for over 2 days the various posts on e-cigs, and decided to give vaping a try, since every other effort to quit smoking has been a bust for me.

To test the waters, I ordered the Apollo disposable cigarette which received very good reviews throughout this forum. Based on my normal brand and a chart I found online, I chose the Medium strength nicotine. I was so excited to get it and say goodbye forever to analog cigarettes.

But once I got it, I was not as blown away as I thought I would be. Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but I have to inhale so hard just to get anything and my nicotine cravings are not going away at all. I tried everything I read here (vape for 10 minutes, resist the urge to smoke analogs, give the vape nicotine time to get in the bloodstream), but still no luck.

After reading many more posts tonight, I see that many of you recommend not using the disposables or even the standard e-cigs that look like cigarettes, but rather a mod or something similar. Some of you also say it's better to mix your own nicotine formula. Also, some of you recommend ProVari, Volt and Ego. Honestly, I am getting confused with all the differing opinions.

So I decided to post a few questions that I hope someone can answer -

(1) Am I expecting too much from e-cigs? With so many success stories on this forum, I really had high hopes.
(2) Is it always so hard to inhale the e-cig, or did I (maybe) just get a crappy one?
(3) Should I get the "High" level of nicotine instead of the "Medium"?
(4) How do you know when it's done? I've been sucking on this thing for four days now and I still get smoke coming out. I thought it was supposed to last for only about 2 packs worth? I think I already got at least 4 packs worth.
(5) I don't mind spending $$$ to get a good e-cig, but I really don't want to have to try 5 or 6 different brands before I find one that works for me. For example, the Provari was highly recommended by some, but hated by others. At almost $200 to try it, that's a bit much for something that might not work for me. I know myself - I'll get frustrated and just go back to analogs. So I really need someone to tell me EXACTLY what to buy that would be the best for me - one that has a really high success rate, is easy to inhale, satisfies my cravings and will help me quit analogs forever. If I have to make a mod, please tell me the exact parts to buy. Also, if possible, please tell me the best place to get them (links if possible).
(6) I don't really want any sweet or fancy flavors, just regular menthol with nicotine like I smoke now. I seem to be ok with PV (no allergies), so if you could also steer me in the right direction for getting a good mix at a decent price, that would be appreciated. I don't think I'm ready to mix my own just yet, so a link to a good mix would be appreciated.

Thanks for reading this far and sorry to ramble on. But I am very disappointed so far and feel like I may never be able to quit analogs, and at my age and years of smoking, I know it will be the death of me. I am nearing the 1 year anniversary of my father's death, who died from smoking related causes after 50 years of smoking (he quit for the last 7 years, but it still did him in.) Thanks for any assistance you can give me. :(

I used to use the Ego, Ego-T, 510-T, 510. I've tried crappy E-cigs and I've tried great E-cigs. Below are my two favorites.

I've been using the Volt (kr808D-1) from Smokeless Image for the past two months, and it is by far the most cigarette-like (but delicious) vape I've ever had, no matter what juice I put in the cartomizers. I haven't had a cigarette since I got my kit in the mail. The original batteries and cartomizers are still going. (Although there is nothing like the treat that is getting a fresh pack of cartos once in awhile! :)

It (The Volt) has an easy draw, plenty of vapor, very very easy to use/refill, and outstanding battery life. Not to mention fast shipping, and the folks at Smokeless Image demand that their products and customer service are simply outstanding and this site is chock full of excellent reviews. In fact, their website features pictures of real people with reviews (including mine!) straight from their forum here on ECF, which are featured on their home page. If you visit the page, be sure to click the picture collage. I'm the very top review, or testimonial as they call it.

My favorite cartomizer is their RY-4 cartomizers in at least 12mg. It is kind of like a caramel vanilla dry tobacco flavor, but is not overly sweet or candy like. I also really enjoy Smart Smoke (510). (Don't buy from the smart smoke site, way overpriced. I get mine from a gas station for 1/4 the price.)

Sorry to hear that you're having a bad first experience. After 15 years of chain smoking, the random craving happens to me rarely personally, but it's nothing my Volt doesn't cure. It's NEVER too late to quit. I went back after a year of vaping until I found the right devices. Vaping is an experience that takes some getting used to, and everyone likes different things. Everyone I know whom I've offered a sample of my Volt to loves it and eventually buys a kit, and I think you will to. I hope you can find something that satisfies you! :)

http://www.smokelessimage.com They even offer a $20 "newbie" kit, if you are skeptical although it is only available in two flavors, but will impress you, I'm sure.
I wish you the very best of luck, and I hope you'll give the Volt a try. -Craig

i started with a 510 went to the ego and now to the lavatube 2.0 and if i had to recomend one to start with it would be the ego 900mah kit and deff not the ego-t never had any luck with the ego t but any ego battery with a cartomizer is great to start with leave the provaris and high voltage alone until gettin into the game a bit

So all week, I had only 1 or 2 real cigs each day. Most days just 1, sometimes, even just 1/2. And yesterday, I went the whole entire day without a cig. I was really proud of myself. But today I was dying for one, so I lit up this morning. Something keeps me going back, man. I'm telling you - there's something else addictive in those cigs that has me hooked, not just the nicotine.

Vaping has been a strange experience, and I really still don't know if it's gonna work for me. So many problems with the equipment - 1 vivi fell apart, my Stardust clearomizer won't work, my attys are not working well anymore (6 of them), my first ego-c twist won't take a charge anymore and I had to send it back. Also, it takes so much time getting everything setup, and I've spent a lot of cash already. But more importantly, I'm still not experiencing the joys of quitting smoking. My sense of smell and taste have not gotten any better. I still crave real cigarettes. My lungs still hurt almost everyday from chain vaping. And if I don't chain vape, I get serious cigarette cravings. And since I'm vaping so much, I think I'm getting MORE nicotine than I did before. It feels that way, anyway. Might be one of the reasons I can't sleep at night lately. I feel like I'm going 100 mph every minute of every day. That's the opposite of real smokes - they used to calm me down. I'm feeling high anxiety all the time now since vaping. My wife also commented to me a similar thing. Initially, she seemed really happy that she stopped smoking real cigs (although I found out she's actually been having about 1/2 of one each day in the morning before I wake up.) Anyway, her battery died at work the other day, and the spare was at home, so for about 3 hours she had to go without vaping. She told me her desire to smoke was very high, and if she had a cigarettes she would have smoked them. She was disappointed because she thought her cravings for cigarettes had all but disappeared, only to find out she wanted one just as bad as ever.

So I'm not sure if we just need to give it more time, change some things, or whatnot. Any thoughts?

My wife and I are in the same boat but opposite. She just has to have a few real cigarettes a day. But down to three or 4 from 20-30 is a big deal no matter what.
Lung pain is what got me to start vaping. And when I first started I was using 24mg and certainly got the jitters and felt a bit wired. Course, I was vaping non stop all day. 4ml minimum. My lungs hurt worse, but in the same place they hurt from smoking. Now after 3+ weeks no cigarettes, lung pain has gone away!!! I think it's because I got lower on my mg (24-18mix) and I suppose the craving for real cigarettes has subsided a bit so I'm not vaping 24-7 like I was in the beginning.
I don't think you regain smell or taste much if you still smoke real cigs. Even just a little. It wasn't till the second week no cigarettes that I really noticed a difference myself.
So, for me, at three weeks I can breath easier, smell better, taste better. I go through 2ml a day not 4. I can set my PV down for lengths of time. And for the last few days... No lung pain at all.
THIS WAS ALL WORTH IT!!!!!
My Main Setup
CE5 2.4ml clearomizer
Camel 20/80 VG/PG
EGO-C 1000ma passthrough
(In three weeks I had to use a new atty/wick replacement)

Hey everybody! It's been a little over a month now, so here's my update in case you're wondering.....

I'm still smoking one or two cigs a day, but some days I smoke zero! So although I still haven't been able to completely kick the old habit, I'm more satisfied now about the many real cigs I am not smoking. It took me awhile to see this as a success, but your comments helped me understand that 2 cigs a day is better than 30, and I'm starting to feel more proud of my accomplishment of cutting down significantly.

I chain vape all day to keep myself from wanting the real thing, and although my lungs don't hurt as much as they did before, there's still some pain there. I know the lung pain is from the chain vaping, because on the few days that I vape less, the next morning my lungs are not as bad. I've tried upping my nicotine levels in my juices and increasing the volts, but I still vape constantly anyways. So far, I'm just getting more nicotine but not the benefit of vaping less. But hopefully that will come in time.

I've had lots of equipment problems, but now I just deal with them and switch between tanks, cartos, etc. I find that I need to clean my tanks frequently to get a good draw from them. Also, the 2.8 ohm attys in the vivis are not strong enough for me, so I try to only use the 2.4's and lower.

I got the WTA and have used it, but for me, it didn't had any noticeable effect of diminishing my real cig cravings. It has a pretty good taste, though.

Which leads me into my next topic - juices. For a long while, I only liked 1 juice - the Silver Leaf Menthol from PureSmoker. I bought sample packs from other vendors and hated them all. I thought there must be something wrong with me - how could all those juices taste so bad to me, when everyone else seems to like them so much? But when I ordered the WTA from AromaEjuice, I also added some of their "Nuport" and "Menthol." I really like both of those juices, ALOT, and since they taste almost identical, I mix them together for my all day vape. So the SLM has now taken a back seat, and the new juices are really great for me. No more "toothpaste" aftertaste, these juices really seem to mimick a menthol cigarette. Which is exactly what I wanted.

For the heck of it, I also ordered a sample ejuice pack from PureSmoker, along with some other 6 ml bottles that interested me. I haven't tried them all yet, but I have found 3 more juices that I really like - their "Minthia", the "Curtis Coffee" and "Cherry Cola." In fact, I like the Cherry Cola so much that I always bring some with me and I switch off between that and the Nuport. BTW, I did not like their "Strawberry Splash", but as you all know, flavors are a personal preference so what is not good to me may be great for someone else.

So all in all, I am enjoying vaping much more now. I have several flavors that I like and use regularly, and I'm dealing better with my failure to completely kick the analogs and now view the whole experience as a huge success. So thanks to all of you for all the advice on the best equipment to buy, explaining to me how to vape, how to clean the parts, etc., and most of all for your moral support during the difficult first few weeks. I believe that one day, I will completely leave the analogs behind, and best of all, I just might live long enough to be a Grandpa.

For anyone reading this post from start to finish, who is trying to decide if vaping is right for you - my advice is to go ahead and give it a shot. I'm thrilled that I did!

Hey I'm glad to hear about your success PWITTE. I was beginning to think that maybe you totally relapsed and decided to not show up around here anymore. I'm happy to know that wasn't the case.

I've been happily vaping. Got a cool new mod on the way from Ihybridmods.com. It's the Green Envy V2. Super excited to get my hands on it. There is a great comunity over there http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...8-ihybrid-apv-fully-customizable-genesis.html Also in the http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...45748-house-hybrids-featuring-zenesis-pv.html . Great people and some really high quality devices. Been spending most my time there between the two threads.

Don't be a stranger man!! Keep on keepin on bro.

Way to go! You're beating me hands down - I'm still on @ 5 a day cigarettes! What's your PG/VG ratio btw? If you're looking for some highly rated eliquid, try Heathers Heavenly Vapes - especially for their flavored naturally extracted tobaccos and Ahlusion - especially for their fruit/dessert flavors. But most of all CONGRATULATIONS!!! :toast:

@Hula - Honestly, I don't know my PG/VG mix - Puresmoker and AromaEjuice don't list them??? But the bottles for both do list both PG and VG in the ingredients, so I'm guessing 50/50. Works for me! 5 a day is much better than where you were before, I bet, so congrats to you, too!

@danwelsh - thanks for the offer, but I'm good right now. Anyone else interested feel free to PM dan.

@Yves & @Max - no relapse in sight - still alive and vapin! And still drinking lots of water, lol.

Thank you very much for the update pwitte. Much to your surprise many of us worry when we don't hear from "friends" for awhile ;) and I'm glad things are looking up.
Also, the 2.8 ohm attys in the vivis are not strong enough for me, so I try to only use the 2.4's and lower.
ALL IMO but 1.8 ohms good for 3.3-4 volts while 2.4 ohms good for 4-4.8 volts.
I'm still smoking one or two cigs a day, but some days I smoke zero!
That's a HUGE success and you owe it to yourself to give yourself a pat on the back. It's the "right" thing to do.
Cheers, thanks very much for the update and the Best of Luck.
