Firstly I'd like to say hello to everyone here.

Hello.

This forum has been a fantastic source of information which has helped me begin my hopefully last attempt to quit smoking cigarettes.

I started my journey into the world of ecigs about 2 weeks ago when I saw one at a major drugstore chain here in Canada. It's called a SmokeNV and I decided to try it out with the idea that I could replace the tobacco with something more benign and still appease the highly potent hand to mouth action that is always seems to be the one thing that's prevented me from kicking the cigarette habit.

This idea seemed to work at first but there was one major drawback. The price of the "propriatray" refills. They were going to turn out to be almost more expensive than smoking the real things. This realization was somewhat disappointing to me as i was really enjoying the change from smoke to vapor but couldn't justify the expense of switching (I know it's my health and that shouldn't have a price tag attached to it but we are talking about $20 for a pack of 5 cartridges that last about an hour at best and that adds up quick ... not to mention the stock flavor kinda sucks)

Fortunately I did a bit of digging and stumbled onto this forum and quickly learned that this particular model is in fact an KR808D model and the cartridges are refillable (despite what the SmokeNV company would have you believe). So I placed an order for some juice, and an eGo T for good measure.

The order arrived a few days ago and I'm happy to say it's been over 48 hours since I had a cigarette and the withdrawal has been slight to nonexistent. I've been vaping up a storm and I'm really excited about this. I've always felt that technology should help people live better lives and here's a great example of that thought made real (plus it means I get some new gadgets to play with and that's cool too)

I doubt that I would have given this a second chance if it wasn't for the wealth of information I've found here and I would just like to say thank you to everyone.

And now for the question....

I've noticed that one of the atomizers that came with the eGo T has a very burnt taste to it, I know that that can be caused by primer but this burnt taste hasn't persisted with the second one after a tank or two.

I'd like to get some suggestions on how I can remedy this or what other options I might explore as far as types of atomizers etc.

Thanks again.

CARTOMIZERS...eliminate the atty and you eliminate the burnt taste it has...I don't use tanks so, I am sure some who do will have specific suggestion to improve the tank experience...for cartos, find ya some Boge2.0 low resistance cartos and I believe you will be a happy vaper...there are lotssa diff cartos out there BUT, the Boges just plain work with out any fiddling around...just keep 'em wet and vape.........

How long did the foul taste last in your atty?

I've got two and blew them both out thunderously before trying them out, still had a burnt taste to them but that has seemed to subside in one but not the other. I think I might have to adjust the wick in the burnt one or something else because it still tastes awful after 2 tanks.

The taste went away for me a little less than a 1/4 of a fresh tank. Its possible that you will need to adjust the wick just be careful. I made on atty a dripper after fumbling on a wick adjustment. If you happen to have 0mg PG around its good for cleaning out attys to. I gave up on tanks after about a month and a half and went to cartos and dripping.

hmmm burning taste on tank usually means you are NOT getting enough juice down to coil.

try to drop a few drops of juice into the bottom of tank atomizer.

ie: take atty off batt & turn over & drip in the air hole ...then wipe off & replace,
try to vape ...is that better ? if so then you are not getting enough juice down into the atty.

so then you have to figure out why your wick is not wicking ...
there are several ways to do this ...

Can you see down in there ? Do you see the wick ? or maybe just the shine off of the mesh that is wrapped around the top of the wick ? You might try to use a pin & just gently push the wick down in the tube "just a hair" & see if that helps .

There are several LONG threads about these issues here @ ECF & some videos that you should watch , just to give you an idea of how these work.

I would just use some needlenose pliers & take it apart to adjust it & put it back together & vape ,but I do it all the time .

sorry there is soooo much to learn w/these , but when they work they are great IMHO !! GOOD LUCK ...

I had the same problem with the burnt taste with my pen style e-cig. I found a solution on this forum and this is what I do and it does help a lot. I fill up the cart with 4-5 drops of juice then I drip 2 drops of juice right onto the atty. The problem is I have to keep repeating this procedure every 15 puffs or so, or whenever the burnt taste returns. Try it and you should notice a huge difference in flavor.

A bit of a follow up ...

So I decided to take the atty apart and found that the wick was almost up to the top of the needle, also there doesn't appear to be any mesh cap on top of the wick. But I gently pushed the bundle of fibers further down into the needle, replaced everything and gave it a puff.

It's working far better than before, it's still got a burnt taste to it but not nearly as pronounced.

I think I'll place an order for some cartomisers and see how those treat me.

Thanks again for all the advise.

What kind of e-liquid are you using with your tank atty? I've been vaping for over a month now and like you started with the eGo-T. I've found that 100% VG doesn't wick as well as 100% PG. I personally use a 50/50 mix. I've also taken too many consecutive draws that caused the wick to burn up. I try to limit myself to 6 consecutive draws and then let it cool down to room temp.

I also started my E-Cig journey with the Ego-T. Helped me kick the smoking habit and I liked the ease of use of the atomizer/tank system.

Once I tried a boge LR Carto I was sold on them... they are great!

Would definatly recommend using them.

I now use them in a liquinator and have moved onto using a Provari .... heaven :)
