Hello... Again...

I was going to bump my old introduction thread, but it's been closed, which makes sense since I haven't posted here in 4 years...

Sorry...

I've upgraded to mechanical mods, now, and I'm doing my own builds. Not very good, yet. I'm largely building 6 wraps (5 inside, 6 if you count the two leads) on 24ga kanthal with the largest screwdriver in the Living Solutions Tool Set from WalGreens (best I could afford right now... and I know it's not ideal... and unfortunately, I don't know the exact size of the screwdrivers... wish I did).

At the moment I'm looking to expand my coil-making knowledge and branch out to more, such as parallel builds, tidal builds, sleeper builds, etc. The thing I want is clouds. I want flavor, as well, but I also tend to get my juices at max VG and flavor boosted (4 nic). Clouds are the number one thing for me (followed closely by flavor).

My current mod set-up is an authentic Raijin with an authentic Vulcan rda (with two added drill-holes over the "V"). Once I'm able to post elsewhere (I need 5 posts here, right?), I'm going to ask about building on it beyond what I currently build.

Anyways... didn't mean to disappear for 4 years, after only a tiny number of posts. Sorry about that. Hopefully I'll post more often, as time allows (at my last semester in school and currently job-hunting... I need a job and fast).

Hello and welcome to the forum NateHevens. Glad to have you here!:)

What is the ohm of your current build and what mod are you using?

Unfortunately I really can't tell you the ohms. I don't yet have a reader. I know I need one... just haven't gotten around to it, yet. And to be honest, some of the people who I vape with at Boca Vapes don't use one, either.

I don't have a box mod currently... that is, I have the VaporShark DNA 2(5?), but the battery's shot and I haven't had the time or money to send it in to get fixed. So I'm not currently using it.

The mod is, as said above, a Raijin with a Vulcan RDA.

I also have a Nemesis clone and a Maraxus clone, as well as a Stillaire RDA clone, but I've been using my authentic Raijin and Vulcan exclusively for a little while, now. I'm actually going to give my Nemesis to my brother.

Also... my batteries are currently... I guess... VTC4's? Or is it VTC5? 3.7V, 18650, 2100mAh...

Boca vapes doesn't have the most knowledgeable people working there imho, been there twice both times left empty handed as I wont buy from someone that doesn't know there products. Any vendor that doesn't preach safety, truly doesn't care about customers safety and satisfaction.

Now that my rant is done on that and about 90% of the vapor shops down here are the same way. A few red flags that pop up are your not sure on your batteries being vtc4 or vtc5 is making me question that they are even sony's. The vtc4 is the 2100mah battery. Do yourself a favor and get a meter, 20 bucks is a lot cheaper then a ER trip and I know how they love to over charge down here for those.

As far as builds that are pretty even in the clouds vs flavor area's, I'm not well versed in that as I have an acute vg allergy and can't use more then 30ish% vg. Most seem to go one way or the other. Me I go for the nic, I really enjoy a harsher vape, not so much a hotter vape.

That I wasn't sure which batteries I had is my fault, not their's. I just asked one of the people who works there and they told me I have VTC4's (then asked me why I keep forgetting this... it's even on my receipts... heh...).

Also, I never said it was the people who work there who don't have meters (I know for a fact that at least three of the employees do have them)... just others who I vape with there. The owner himself has suggested that I get a meter. Personally, I love the lounge. I bring in my Cards Against Humanity on Fridays and it's pretty fun... guess it helps that I'm really good friends with one of the people who work there (the person I asked)... heh...

Wondering who you worked with, though, because in my experience they know their stuff really well... but then, I guess YMMV. I'm more of a noob with this stuff then others, so if you're experienced... I don't know... I know I haven't interacted with everyone who works there because I only go in when the closing shift is there, so I've not met anyone who works the early shifts.

I'll probably get a meter this Friday, then... if I can fit it in the budget (I'm job-hunting, and still have to pay rent).

(So I'll say... I've been able to afford what I have so far because I bought that all when I had a job and so had a bigger budget... only quit that job recently because of the toll it was taking on my mental health... I know it's extreme, but working overnights at a Burger King was actually driving me back to my darker, suicidal past... I had to get out of there...)

ETA... sorry... not trying to advertise for or necessarily get defensive about Boca Vapes. I'm very adverse to being social (extreme social anxiety), so if I've found a place that I like hanging out at, it becomes sorta special to me. It's rare for me to find a place where people (both customers and employees) are so easy to get along with and I feel safe just hanging out in...

And now its bed time for me... :D

Welcome m8 i really cannot understate how much you should be checking the resistance of your builds and the capacity and abilities of your batteries not paying attention to this could easily result in a pipe bomb and some very serious injury please please be safe sorry to be so preachy just want u to be safe and get the clouds your looking for

Okay. I'm going in to Boca Vapes today, so I'll look at and probably get one tonight. Are there any that will read ohms, wattage, and also check batteries?

ETA: Would a multi-meter be overkill or would it be better than a basic Ohm/Voltage meter?

See what they got I'm sure they will advise you so long as you know your resistance and your battery capabilities you can get an app like vapers toolbox to help with the rest you'll get there just err on the side of caution stay safe and happy vaping :)

Thanks. I'll see what they have.

So I officially have an Ohm reader. It's basic, but I tested it against some that others had, and it's accurate.

So here's what I have: Authentic Raijin with a Vulcan RDA. I'm currently vaping at .35 ohms on VTC4 batteries. The build's a basic 6 wrap with 24ga kanthal.

Would getting a safety fuse while I'm using VTC4's be overkill? Supposedly the batteries are designed with a safety feature for it to simply fizzle out instead of exploding, but...

And if I should get a safety fuse, would a reusable one be good, or are the one-time use ones better?

Tbh never used a safety fuse as I only really use a regulated mod most of the time but couldn't hurt if your not sure better safe than sorry but tbh u should be able to work out if your safe with vapers toolbox app and the information you have I would find out the amp limit for your batteries tho having.Never used Sony batteries I don't know

True VTC4s are a 30 amp continuous battery, and can handle down to a .14 ohm build. However, that is exactly 30 amps and no wiggle room. I personally leave 10-20% room for variation so I would not go below .17 ohms. The lowest I have gone so far is .212 ohms and I have gone back up to a .451 build that I am enjoying a bunch.

As long as you do not go below the continuous amp limit, you should have no need for a fuse, but if you would prefer to have that extra level of protection then get one and give it a go!

How to tell real Sonys:

ETA: OP, please get an ohm reader. It is basically a cheap insurance against most vaping mistakes. With it you can prevent having to buy new batteries, equipment, fingers or even a face due to a build gone wrong.

Okay. Awesome. May I ask what kind of builds you do? And do you have any experience with the Vulcan?

I'm the OP, and I did get an ohm reader... :D

The most recent build I did a few hours ago reads .40 to .41

I usually just do standard dual coils. I use 24 and 26 gauge usually, and wrap around screwdriver that go from 1.8 to 2.4mm in size. My builds range from .6ish down to .212, but the one I am using now is .45 and I am loving the vape and the battery life. I have thought about doing some parallel, but may wait til I get the mutation X, so I have an RDA to vape and one to play around on. Here are some pics I have, excuse the cotton, I am bad to over-wick most of the time.

I don't have any experience with a vulcan personally, but I may still be able to help with any questions you have.

Also, didn't realize you were OP, but really glad you got an ohm meter!
