Just a quick note to say hello. I must say that I am very impressed with the amount of information on this board. I have spent a couple of hours reading through the threads and am pleasantly surprised at how much information is available. Probably too much information.

I live in Orlando and have been smoking for over 20 years. I smoke about 2 packs a day right now. I do enjoy smoking and associate it with relaxing and socializing. My wife smokes as well. I smoke Marlboro lights.

My wife really wants to quit smoking for several reasons. It would be harder for me because I do enjoy smoking. I did try an e-cig from Wall-greens yesterday. I must admit it wasn't too bad, except it didn't last long and had no flavor. I would like to try the e-cigs and at least use it part of the time at first and possibly move towards only vaping. I do not know much about the e-cigs.

I have determined that the midsize or ego would probably be best for me. What I do not know is what brand, how much it should cost or a reputable dealer. I would prefer to be able to purchase locally, but is not absolutely required. I found this site looking for not only information, but unbiased reviews. I did find reviews of different brands, but it seemd to be from vendors.

It would be greatly appreciated if someone could point me in the right direction where I can find honest unbiased comparison of the different brands. Also, if their is a way to find the best vendors to go to and where I may by locally.

Thanks again for maintaining such a great site with such useful information. I will post what I buy and how who I purchased it from.

Welcome to ECF. Yes there is a lot of information here. It can seem overwhelming. However, there is also a large community of friendly people to help you get started and to help keep you on the path.

Those disposables can only do so much. If you don't mind using something bigger than a normal cigarette then I would recommend getting an eGo or eGo style.

This is a link to an eGo twist battery. They are fairly decent and inexpensive. But your set up will look nothing like a cigarette.
AltSmoke.com | Personal Vaporizers | Electronic Cigarette | Ecigs | AltSmoke.com | eGo-C Twist Battery

The twist will allow you to adjust the voltage till you find the perfect vape.

To go with it throw on a Vivi Nova tank
http://altsmoke.com/accessories/tanks/vision-vivi-tanks/vision-vivi-replacement-coil-tank-kit.html

Get this fill it with juice and your on your way.

This is the inexpensive route and will also avoid the first step of a fixed volt mod. Many people use these setups and keep them forever. Others upgrade to bigger and better things.

For vendors click the link at the top of the page "Forum Suppliers". All suppliers listed there are monitored by the admins of ECF. There are others that are not listed there. There are way to many to list.

Good luck on your journey, and may you find enjoyment in vaping.

Welcome bucsfan. You've joined a great community here. Also, fortunately, if you're in Orlando, you have a great walk in store in your area. I don't think the rules allow me to post the link here. But the store is esmoker, and is located at 4919 S. Orange Ave. There is also a Central Florida Vapers Group, on Facebook, and we schedule meet ups often, as well. Some of our members hang out at the store regularly. The staff at the store are very helpful folks.

Thank you for the warm welcome mecocina! I was able to find two. One sells the Joy E -cigs only on Orange Blossom Trail. Their is another one that is online only, but will allow pick ups. That is how I found this board is looking for B&M stores in Orlando. I just figured their may be more locally, since Orlando is a mid sized city that is pretty spread out.

I don't NEED to buy locally, just like to support people in my area of the price and service is equivalent. Plus I like to ask a lot of questions, which usually does better when seeing someone face to face.

When I looked them up on line, it looked like they only sold joy e-cigs. Do they offer other brands as well? And does it matter? I am an extreme newb so I probably am asking questions that do not matter and not asking questions I should.

Also, thank you for the Facebook recommendation and the warm welcome.

Yes, they do sell other stuff besides joye. Lots of options there. There is also another great store in Edgewater, which was previously mentioned. LJesmokes. Great folks! In fact, we're having a rebuildable atomizer workshop there on Feb.2.

Great I will go to the store on orange ave ( I was thinking OBT for some reason). Sounds great being able to have a place to hang out and vape, sort of like a cigar bar. Now we just need to convince them to get a liquor license.

At the store that only sells Joye you should check out the eRoll as an alternative choice to the eGo for a much more natural transition, and also try a NJoy King before you write of disposables.

tap'd on my Google Galaxy Nexus

I will make certain to try the NJoy. From what I have read, I may be better of withe the EGO, mainly because I am a heavy smoker.

Greetings!
I hope that you and your wife can enjoy vaping! Once I started, my smoking was over with. 30+ years. However I had a lot of frustration with ecigs from the store and some online. It really is nice to go to a store dedicated to ecigs, see, feel the things and then find your juice. I had troubles finding a juice that did not leave an aftertaste--Mt. Baker Vapor did it for me. Lots of flavors, strengths of nicotine, no aftertaste, awsome fast shipping. Wishing you the very best but please don't let a walgreens smoke be your only experience with an ecig--they are nothing compared to what you can get from a better set up. (Ecab, ego's, etc..)

Hi Bucsfan and welcome!

Joyetech (aka Joye) is probably the most respected manufacturer in the ecig industry, and they are the most copied company out there. I most definitely recommend their batteries at the very least. You could put together a combination consisting of the eGo 1000 mah manual battery, the Vision 1.6 ml clearomizers, and an eGo/T/C Mega Powered USB Charger.

Figure getting 2 batteries, 2 clearomizers, and 1 charger, for a total of maybe $75. To that just add whatever e-liquid you'd like and you're in business. You might also find everything in a kit for a little less money. Those would be my recommendations based on 4 years of vaping experience. Hope it helps!

Best of luck!

Thanks, that was a good part of what I was looking for. I had no idea what brand to look for and it seems that Joye is the brand sold by a lot of companies.

I am about to head over to the place located on Orange Avenue. I will see what they have to say. I will let everyone know what type of selection they have in store and the service received. I will also come back and let you know what all I bought, including flavors.

I do thank everyone for their advice. That includes what I got in this thread and other threads I looked at. Hopefully I will know enough soon to be able to contribute and actually ask intelligent questions or comment in a meaningful way.

Got the Ego C 1000, 1 Iclearamizer and 5 different flavors. MLB Selecet, USA MIX, Papa Smurf, Smooth Cuban. They gave me 15% off for Martin Luther King Day and it came out to $117.99. Only one person in the store, and he did not seem to try and upsell too much. I had to wait about 20 minutes but he spent clse to a half hour with me to explain everything and answer any questions. He let me try several of the different flavors and explained the throat hit and why I did not want to go to high.

It was about 10:30 EST when I arrived and it is now 14:30 EST. I have not wanted a cigarette since. I do have a pack in my pcket just in case. I may be able to give up analogs all together.

Welcome Bucksfan (we wont hold that against you.)

You should be happy with the eGo- it will take you a long ways and with a kit, you get the compoents for two units-
easy to fill, easy to maintain and most importantly- easy to carry day to day.
Part of the cig thing- why we all liked it was the comfort factor. We like the hand to mouth action, knowing that we had cigs so that our bodies would not be without the nic.
Vapping can and does replace the nerviousness of not having our analogs. We have our 'blanky', we can 'Vape' to get our nic, and we still do the same motions as smoking.
With an eGo, your mind will not freak out that you are going to deprive it of it's need-nic. In time, you can cut back- or not, but you will soon be vaper- and lose the clay, tar, carbon monoxide and the 1000 other things that come from burning tobacco.

I was a 40+ year, 1-2 PAD 'burro' smoker- I got my ego-C in the mail 18 days ago- and I quit the ciggies.
Don't even miss them at all- cause I am Vapping

Wishing You ALL THE BEST !
