Welcome, there is a wealth of great information but it can be daunting. Advise? Get a good quality, inexpensive, simple starter kit online. You can get information on good, inexpensive and reliable vendors here. Next, check the juice section and try some juices that interest you. Avoid expensive, complicated gear until you get a 'feel' for what you like/don't like. Fiirst and foremost, have fun!

Hi, I just joined this site today. I have been reading here for a while, trying to figure out how to start, what to buy, etc. There is just so much to learn about vaping and ecigarettes.

Thanks,
Lynzy

Time to direct you to the library...a section chock full of great information written by the very knowledgeable community here, I firmly believe many of your questions will be answered there

I believe they have a store in Cincinnati. It is easier for someone to help you in person, then from a forum. I would go visit if you can for some advice and juice tasting.

Although I am in IL, I have ordered from them a lot. Nice people and they will take care of any issue you may have with their products.

Welcome! I don't have much specific advise because I'm only just hitting my week-aversary, but it is a damn good move. Definitely just get whatever you can afford, basic starter pack, because it seems like every type has its pros and cons, and until you know exactly what you do and don't want from it, you're playing blind; buy assuming that you'll be replacing in a while. Also have a look around for different juices, and don't be afraid to buy from different places, that's the only way you'll get a broad enough selection to find what you like (and where possible buy the small/sample sizes, getting a big bottle is false economy if you take one hit and vom, I've already binned one that I 'knew' I'd love and cannot vape it without spluttering and wheezing, just the cocktail does not agree with me, but it was only a 2ml bottle so no big loss).

Essentially, all the research in the world is no substitute for the old trial and error approach. I set myself a budget - equal to two weeks of fags - and got my base kit and a bushel of try-size juices, even if I toss half of them and replace the kit in another week (unlikely, it's doing fine for now) I'm coming out ahead financially, so consider it like that and spend what you would have thrown down the ashtray anyway, meaning no loss if you have to make another purchase of juices or kit in a week or two.

Yes there is a LOT to learn and you will learn more and more as you go on through trial and error, you definitely are in the right place though-good luck and welcome-I think the posts prior give lots of great advice about where to start so I won't be repetitious-if you have a brick and mortar store-couldn't hurt to go and look, see what is offered, and price things in person and comparison shop online to save $(online prices are usually better but I also like to see things in person first-that's just me)-plus taste juices so you have an idea of what you might like

Hi there, and welcome!

whatever kit you decide,,,,,,,,,,work on getting back ups! Batteries die, e-cigs get lost, chargers and juice delivery devices break, and you DON'T want to run out of juice on a holiday weekend,,,,having a back up of EVERYTHING is always a good idea!

Good luck!!!!!!

One place you may want to start is by deciding if you really WANT a cig sized unit (an ecig the same size as a cigarette) or if you're willing to go slightly larger to something sharpie sized,,,

the larger the battery, the more vaping you can do before you have to re-charge. Batteries get roughly 300 recharges,,,,,,,so there's some advantage to having something larger,,,,,,,

but some newbies (myself included when I was a newbie) really NEEDED that same form factor as a regular cigarette.

If you want the cig sized,,,,,,,,,I'd say go check out the Smokeless Image website.

If you want to go larger for the better battery life, check out the Ego or Ego Twist batteries.

that's just a place to start, however,,,,,,,,,,everyone is different!

Welcome to the forums Lynzy:) Once you try e cigs you will be hooked. You won't believe how much like smoking it is. I actually quit a 2+ packs a day smoking habit of 20 years by accident using e cigs. I had bought a cig look alike kit so I could use it inside the hospital after a close friend had a very bad car accident and needed to be in the hospital for over a month. I opened it up as soon as I got in the car and took my 1st drag. Then I handed it over to my friend who was with me. We couldn't believe how much it was just like smoking a real cig. I immediately went back inside the shop and bought another battery and some more cartomizers (the part that looks like the cig filter) and ended up vaping that whole day. My friend also went inside and bought a kit. Once I got home I did the math and realized e cigs would be cheaper then real cigs. I kept vaping those little cig alike batteries for about a month while I spent every spare second reading this forum. Then I started moving up to better and better e cig set ups over time. It takes a lot of research because there are so many different choices. Keep a notepad next to you and take notes on what you learn as you go. In no time you will have the perfect set up and never look back. If having an e cig the same size as a real cig is important to you then check out the volt from smokless image. If you would be willing to go about the size of a sharpie marker get yourself 2 650 mah ego twist batteries to start with. The mah stands for milliamp hours. You will get about an hour of vaping per 100 mah. The cig alike batteries are like 250 mah. The ego batteries come in 650 and 1100 I believe. The 650 mah size is nice small size that lasts way longer then a cig alike sized one. The ego twist has variable voltage. This means you can turn a nob on the bottom up or down to increase or decrease throat hit, vaper amount and taste. Variable voltage will drastically improve your vaping experience. I know all of this info is overwhelming but soon it will be second nature to you. Good luck and don't be afraid to ask questions around here. We all started at the beginning just like you.:)

Totally Agree, I am at 4 weeks and the first e-cig I tried pushed me in the direction of not wanting to smoke any more but I still felt they didn't give me what I needed so I upgraded and upgraded again and found the one that is working for me, a VV device so I can have more control or at least feel like I do. I have also tried several different flavors during the process to make sure I get something I really like that will help me going forward.

Welcome to the ECF, so much to learn, this is the place to find the info you need.

Thanks so much, susieq60002, yes they do have a store here in Cincinnati, I've not checked it out yet, as it is way out on the east side of town, and it would take me about 2 hours to get there on a bus. It's good to know that I can order online from them.

Thanks for the welcome, retired soldier, yes, there is very much to learn, it is seeming less overwhelming already.

For any beginner I would suggest either of these...EGO systems

BOTH these starter kits have.....2 1100a batteries..2 chargers, AC wall and USB,.. 2 CE5's replaceable coil clearomizers,... and a carrying case

$44... DV eGo-T Starter Kit - Stainless - 1100mah

$25 and variable voltage 1100 batteries,,, $24.99 EGO-CE4S 6-in-1 Variable Voltage Rechargeable 1100mAh E-Cigarettes Set with 0.55" Screen - double e-cigarettes / 2.4

Need at least 1100a batteries for all day vaping 12-13 hours... and need 2 batteries, all the time in case 1 goes bad or dead or breaks..

For Eliquid/juice ..I suggest MBV for best prices, fast service, and good quality... Best E Cigarette | Buy Electronic Cigarettes | E Cig Juice - MT Baker Vapor
