I have a Seigeli 50w box mod with a aspire atlantis setup and my coils are 0.5 ohm and seem to be burning out I usually run my mod around 30-40 which is what the local cape shop guy recommend after doing some research I feel it might be to high of wattage for the 0.5 idk never had this good of a vape before so I'm turning you yall

I too run my Atlantis (with a 0.5Ω coil) around 35-40 watts using 50/50 juice. Sometimes if the tank is screwed on too tight to the base I get "dry hits". When I loosen it up a little I will see bubbles floating up. That usually takes care of the problem.

Every now and then I may have to plug the air hole and blow into the drip tip. This will force feed more juice to the coils.

I think the way things work are on the opposite direction. Let me explain: If you get a 1.0 ohm coil, you want to reduce the wattage, and the same holds true the other way arround. The lowerthe resistance (ohm) the higher the wattage. If you go with a high wattage on a high resistance, you will just kill the resistance. Hope this helps

The resistance of the coil is not the problem here its the power youre puttin into it. Theres no reason to go with such high wattage with a tank like that. The quality and taste of the vapor will be better with a lower wattage. And also @vmtorres put it perfectly the higher the resistance you put in it will just be a cooler vape and different type of vape but it wont allow you to use more power.

You don't sound like a noob or an idiot. It's a very legitimate question. Everyone here has had issues with one device or another and had to turn to the experts for answers.

I would play with the wattage, try moving it down to where the wicking can keep up with the heat and Susan makes a great point. If you're wicks aren't getting juice quick enough by being screwed on to tight then it will seem as if you're "burning" your coils. When in fact it could be a nasty dry hit.

Also if you're using a max VG or just a higher ratio of VG juice it will have a harder time wicking as it is much thicker than a 50/50 juice.

I want to clear up a bit of misinformation here.

First off, according to Aspire, these are the recommended wattage ranges for their Atlantis coils.

5.ohm = 20W-30W
1ohm = 40W-50W
.3ohm = 70W-80W

NOTE: The 1ohm coil is rated for higher wattage than the .5ohm coil.

Now, the next question is just how fast are you going through a coil? A day, a week, a month? And how many ml of juice do you normally run through it a day? For example, if you're only running 5-6ml of juice through the coil in a day and the coil is failing in 2-3 days that may be a problem. However, if you're running 10ml of juice through the coil per day and the coil is lasting 10 days then that would probably be considered normal.

And finally, there is the juice itself. The juice makes a HUGE difference on how long a coil will last. Thicker juices, darker colorings, and lots of sweetener will all contribute to gunking up the wick and coil faster. Clear juices with little to no sweetener can make a coil last a LOT longer, often times more than double the life of a dark, thick, sweet juice. For example, you may only get a week or so use out of a coil if you're vaping a near-black sweet chocolate flavor while the same coil may last a month or more with a clear, uncolored and unsweetened peppermint. Also the amount of vegetable glycerine (VG) makes a difference as well. VG is very thick and hard to wick, so you may get more dry hits and burnt taste from a 90+% VG juice than you would a 70-80% VG juice. Personally with the Atlantis I would recommend staying in the 70-80% VG range.
