Welcome northern neighbor! You can vape in those temperatures, but you'll probably notice a significantly reduced throat hit and a much cooler vape. It's not bad, just different. I usually keep my ecig close to my body in an inside jacket pocket. I don't know if juice freezes, but I imagine it does...but I don't want to find out what happens if it does. We're at -10F today and things are humming along just fine for me!

Hello: New to the forum and new to vaping. I'm in Canada and we are having one hell of a winter! I was wondering
if people take any extra precautions on keeping your device warm when you are out and about with it. Also what
about vaping outside in cold weather?(About -20C with windchill.)

From Frozen Michigan, Always warm up interior of vehicle before vaping. I learned quickly from the windows having a nice coating of frost in a cold vehicle. Stay away from metal drip tips outside. You will get tired of peeling them off your lips.

Hey neighbour, welcome to the forum. Once you have 5 newcomer posts, be sure and check out the ECF->Canada subforum.

I don't enjoy vaping as much in the cold, e-cig vapor seems to taste less rich, but there is nothing special you need to do with your e-cig in cold weather, at least not that i'm aware of. But watch those metal drip tips!

I drive a school bus and in the morning I vape before getting on and driving. Down here in Southern Maryland we never got to the negatives but it was REALLY COLD during our brief polar vortex time. I kept it in my pocket or in my fingerless mitten. But it was a very cool vape. I could taste the flavor but not feel the vapor. Best place I found for short periods of time? Kept it in my bra:p

Note to self buy a bra or should I take one of wifey's. Could send a wrong message ... I'll just suffer :)

Heh. That's picnic weather here. And we don't need ice chests for the beer.

I was outside watching Mrs. Kodiak chop wood yesterday for about two hours and didn't really notice anything different. Probably one of the perks of being a stupid newb. She wields a mean chain saw BTW.

Hello from your neighbor across the lake! I think that the cold weather is part of the reason I have been so successful. If I had tried to quit and switch to vaping in July here in upstate NY I may have felt the temptation to join my "still smoking" buddies. That said, I have had no issues vaping in -20F temps. I have even left my spare ecig in the car overnight when it was 5F and it fired up just fine in the morning. I did not check to see if the juice was frozen tho.

I'm replying mostly to give you a bump and keep this thread higher in the stream, but I feel for you, my Canadian brother (or sister).

We're in a cold snap here on the west coast, too... it's 8C and sunny :D

Where were you that it was 8 today?

Got to maybe 1 or 2 in Richmond today. Sun was nice though.

I've notice the juice gets really fouled vaping it in cold weather, not to mention if it's a bottom coil it will cause leakage when it warms up. It tastes great when I'm out in the cold but then when the juice warms up, the flavor becomes muted and it burns the nose. I just dumped a few ml out of a protank for that very reason as a matter of fact. Thought it would get back to normal in time but it never did. My hypothesis is that since the different ingredients freeze or at least thicken at different temperatures, they get separated when your tank gets very cold. So when you're vaping in the cold, you might be vaping just the pg or just the vg, leaving other ingredients frozen, especially if the vg is thinned with water. When it thaws out, your juice has less vg or pg now and more percentage of water or whatever parts of the ingredients didn't get vaped away in the cold, leaving a nasty tasting combination. That's my theory anyway.
