This is my very first post. It seems to me that a good place to start would be to express my appreciation for an honest and reliable source of information regarding e-cigs, as finding this seems to be close to impossible. I suppose I'll share my way of discovering the e-cig.

I had loosely heard about them here and there, with no interest in trying such a device, much less quitting my analog addition(of 7 years). I was perfectly fine with smoking and enjoyed it. Smoking helped me get through the day. It was key in getting through the stressfull situations of my occupation(land surveying) and life in general. It wasn't until I noticed one of my good friends using, benefitting from and, more importantly, enjoying an e-cig, that i became interested.

Being a man of stubbornness, I immediately dispelled his attempt to persuade. It wasn't until a week later, when i felt enough time had passed since his telling, that I decided to try for myself. I actually had no intention of quitting. I just wanted to try it out, see what the fuss was about. I noticed a very narrow selection(njoy) of e-cig at a gas station one morning and made the purchase.

I had half a pack of cigarettes leftover from the day before(1 1/2 pack smoker at the time), and decided to see if this product helped me get through the day with what i had. It actually did. I was impressed with the "nic quench" and figured I'd attempt to quit analog all together.

Currently, I have been vaping for a month and have no desire to go back. I have tried three brands of e-cig out of curiousity and am happy with my current(v2), but intend to take this new found hobby further with a PV when i break even on e-cig expenses again.

I also intend to review the three brands I have tried, if possible. I am not at all familiar with this forum yet, and am honestly quite overwhelmed at the amount of content within. Any advice is welcome and much appreciated.
Thanks for your time

Welcome to ECF! I look forward to hearing your thoughts on V2. I'm currently vaping it until my e-power kit comes in tomorrow. I'm a more addicted smoker than you (I was a 2+pack/day smoker before I started vaping) and personally the V2s aren't enough to get me completely over the hump. That said, otherwise I've been relatively happy with them. Warning: the forum can be overwhelming as well as addictive in it's own right.

Great story, I really enjoyed reading that!

I stumbled across ecigs and thought I would get one to stop me smoking in the house as I didnt like to do that for obvious reasons!
So I gave it a go and although I never intended to stop smoking I just gradually over a period of about 2 weeks moved solely to vaping and I am absolutely loving it!
I have been off the cigs for about 9 months so far and have NEVER craved for a cig as I am totally happy with vaping and even around my still smoking friends I have never once been tempted.

As for your wondering what is a good setup I think an ego passthrough (so you can still vape while charging so you dont need 2 batteries straight off) is great and Boge carto's are good too so that is a great setup right there and very cheap too.
Maybe add a tank to the Boge's so you dont need to refill several times a day and you are sorted!

Eventually you might move onto mods which arent so cheap but I wouldnt worry about that road quite yet.

Good luck to you! It's great that you made the 'switch'! and those are great for starting and even using on and off. I do ..I started with those too. Now..I found a vendor who is so sweet and caring..'amazing' and she helped me 'find' the right one to start with after those little guys...! ha..I am buying and filling my own. Waiting on another and hope that is the 'right' one..you'll find one...and I hope you just love it when you do...* take care...*

I just got an E-power and am loving it! Several things you might like about it:
1. It's about the size of a cigar.
2. Great battery life. I vaped on a single battery all day yesterday (around 9 hours) and still had battery life.
3. The battery comes in 3 parts: The actual 14650 1060mahm battery itself, the switch, and the battery case. This is great because when the battery and/or the switch dies, it can be replaced separately (the battery for around $5 and the switch for around $10) as compared to having to replace the complete device. It's also easier carrying around a spare battery in your pocket than having to carry a spare device.
4. It have a consistent 3.7 volts, as compared to the 3.3 of the Egos.

If you're interested, here's a link to the kit I got:

PS the post about the 'passthrough' is a great one..if you are near the computer or anywhere because with an adaptor. you can vape and it's 'constantly' charged. They also have them that you can just unplug and go..!!
I love my passthru....always being used & love just putting the cap on & running out the door. I never even heard of ecigs - my daughter bought 3 different setups as a gift for me - didn't have a clue as to what they were & almost fell over when I saw what she paid.
I had 50 yrs. of smoking behind me & I truly loved it - anyways - long story short..I made her return the sets & picked up a Blu just to see what it was all about - not bad - sooooo I started researching & my new life began. That was 9 months ago (took 4 days & washed every ashtray in the house) never looked back. Welcome & congrats....you're going down a wonderful road!
