Here's a little introduction that will give you a quick background of myself and will help craft (hopefully) responses that I will be able to comprehend involving vaping and my current questions about the iCare Mini. The questions I have are at the end of my quick introduction.

I'm new to vaping, I'm vaping because I had to quit smoking cigarettes. I was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease this past August (2016), and it affects many things, including my eyes/vision. And with my luck, I was notified that smoking cigarettes will likely prolong vision problems, if not make them worse. My endocrinologist said that I must quit or face dire consequences. He told me that, for some reason, he doesn't know exactly, the science hasn't figured it out, but vaping does not affect my disease, but cigarettes do. So I'm not a vaping enthusiast, I hope to use vaping to eventually get me off of nicotine completely, and to not have the need to vape either. I don't understand any of the thousands of terminology words involving vaping, I don't understand any of the slang words either. Please explain things to me in the simplest of terms regarding vaping. Thanks for reading my intro.

Ok, I bought an iCare Mini after my first product purchase off the internet (myJet) arrived in the mail and was defective and did not work at all. I went to a vape shop and the gal working there told me the iCare Mini was a good "starter kit" for someone who wants to quit cigarettes. She was hot, so of course I just mindlessly bought what she said. In addition to the iCare Mini she also sold me a bottle of juice that was "70/30" and 6mg nictotine. For the first week or two it was great, the flavor was strong (I choose Raspberry Lemonade as I wanted something different from the flavor of cigs I was smoking (Newport 100s), to deter me from going back to cigs). But after a few weeks, the flavor was almost non-existent. I changed the coil and everything, and the flavor is still weak as (Please do not evade the forum censors).

!. How often do I need to change the coil in my iCare?
The very limited instruction booklet that came with it didn't tell me. The lady at the store
said to change the coil about every two weeks, although that seems kind of excessive and
could result in a lot of dough being spent on coils.

2. Can I get the flavor back by changing juices or type of juice mixture (mine is 70/30)?

3. Is there any sort of cleaning regiment of the unit I need to do for better performance of the
unit?

This is probs the longest post ever, so I apologize for the wordiness, but I thought being as concise as possible would bring about the best advice. I sincerely thank all of you who took the time to read this, as this vaping stuff is essential to my life right now because of my health. All the best.

You need to change the coil when you need to change the coil. Certain reviewers found them shorter lasting than average. 2 weeks would be a great result for regular vaping (20-30 vaping sessions per day).
BUT 2 weeks is not excessive and you may find one week is already stretching the boundaries.
E-cigarette coils (atomizer heads) range from less than $1 to as much as $5. Even at $2.50 per coil, the cost has to be worth bearing to get onto vaping instead of smoking.

Newport 100s are listed as one of the highest mg Nicotine of any cigarette.
Don't be surprised to find 6mg is too low, even with a more modern device.

Folks in this thread should be able to help you out.

All Things about the Eleaf iCare & iCare Mini

Thank you for the comment Foggy Road, but I actually looked at some of that thread before posting mine. The thread was pretty much neverending (35 pages of comments) and much of the comments related to technical jargon, crazy vaping slang, and generally things I didn't care about or need to/want to know about. I only found a few of the comments somewhat applicable to the questions I had. Thanks again for the reply, I appreciate your time.

Thanks for the response djsvapour, you definitely answered my question involving the coils (atomizer heads) and when I should be changing them, etc. And yes, Newport 100s are definitely powerful nail coffins, glad I'm done (fingers crossed) with them forever! Question: you said that 6mg nicotine may be too low, but I was under the impression that that is the strongest juice you can get, is there stronger? Also, not sure if you know this or not, you didn't mention it, maybe you never had a iCare Mini, but would you know why I get absolutely no flavor of juice anymore when I vape with my iCare Mini? I get enough vapor, but there's no taste to it anymore. I've had my device for just about 2 months, so it's still pretty new and in good shape as far as I see. If you have any insight on that I'd appreciate it. Thank you so much for responding to my post, grateful for your time. Hope to hear back from you again.

Welcome and glad you joined.
2. It's possible to refresh your pallet/taste:
Bread absorbs flavors, saltines can be used salt to stimulate taste buds back to normal. Bits of croissant followed by a mouthful of distilled water, then spit out after swishing is said to refresh the pallet.
Malt vinegar mouthwash will clean the palate, then vape right away.

3. Clean when you feel the device needs cleaning. Since we all vape differently and at different times/intensity/devices, it's hard to assign any definitive answer to this question. I have come to know when my flavor intensity starts to drop that the atomizer needs attention.

There is definitely stronger juice available - often up to 24 mg/ml or even higher. 6 mg is considered a stronger juice for "sub-ohming", which means using a coil that is less than 1 ohm in resistance. I think the iCare coils are 1.1 ohms, so you're not sub-ohming and should probably be using a stronger juice.

It matters because, as a general rule, the lower the resistance of the coil the faster it uses juice. You're not going through juice as fast, so you might want a higher concentration to get the same amount of nicotine out of it.

About the taste of the juice, it's probably "vapers' tongue" like Burnie says. Essentially, you've just got used to the juice and aren't tasting it as much anymore. The solution is to try a different flavour for a while and then go back to the original.

Burnie, thanks for responding. And holy crap, I didn't know such thing as 'Vapers Tongue' existed! I read the link you included and discovered that more than one element of Vapers Tongue applies to me. Since I have started vaping (maybe 2 months ago) I've only used one flavor of juice because I only bought one bottle of juice, so I think I'll definitely buy another bottle or two of different flavors. Hopefully this will help, although I'm a little worried I might have Vapers Tongue at the moment, I guess I just have to give this flavor issue some time and see what happens. Thank you very much for your help.

Thanks for your comment Hawise, I was clueless about the coil subject. I'm going to buy a few bottles of stronger flavors of juice, not to mention stronger nicotine content, this 6mg ain't doin' it for me. Thanks again.

Muted flavor is one reason to change your coil. 2 weeks for a coils is pretty optimistic, 1 week is more likely. Higher nic juice will affect flavor a little, but in the icare, not too much. Look for a 12mg ejuice, that's perfect in the icare. Good luck!

Thanks for your comment stormjib, I'm definitely going to buy a bottle of stronger nictotine juice that's a different flavor and maybe change my coil more frequently. Thanks again.
