I am a newbie here and would like to say HI to fellow vapers!
I became a vape girl after a switched to vaping in 2016. I was a dual user before that. Now i forgot about the fags and hope will convince my friends to do it as well.
By the way, did you have success to convince your buddies/family to switch to vape? Maybe someone can help me with some arguments, 'cause my list is already used :(

Hello and welcome. Congrats to you. I went right from smoking to vaping. Turned a few friends on to vaping. One, in particular, is dual using and I can't get her to make the full jump. For my other friends, I've told them the benies of vaping, showed them my equipment, let them even use it and even passed along my older stuff to them and most are still smoking. I've decided that is the extent of what I will do. I'm around for support for them and will help them but I have come to realize that they have to want to. At first, I really tried to convince and convert - now not so much --- unless they are interested and really want to.

Hi and welcome!
Glad you switched :p

And as others have pointed out, ultimately your friends make their own decision. You can not force anyone, however, you can sometimes talk about it without directly talking about it TO them such as "since I quit smoking I feel way better because I feel that... ", casually. Don't overdo it, it's a slow process most of the time. Just be a positive source of feelings and feedbacks about it and hopefully over time they will do the switch.

On a side note: if they are scared about health issues due to the fact it's still a new product compared to the cigarette, there is no more debate between e-cig and cig, but rather is the e-cig dangerous in the long run. That's all.
Navigate and this website you'll find tons of ideas and arguments if that's what you're here for :D

I and welcome! Like anything, some people are open to new ideas and some are not. I'm happy for an occasional smoker to give vaping a shot and have them stop. As for the others, well, you tried and you can't do any more than that.
Thanks!
Yeah, i like your attitude to it :) I would like to see more those open-minded people around me.

Hi and thanks for your reply! :)
Your friends should be thankful for your efforts. "They have to want to" - totally agree!

it seems to me there is no another way to help people switch, than show them an example by yourself and providing the PROs in a friendly and non-agressive way :)

Hi and welcome!

I’ve converted 3 smokers. The other ones I know have already tried vaping and not stayed with it.

But all I did was, for my mother in law, I just got her a Blu. She was going to be in the hospital and could not smoke, but could use the vape, so she was overjoyed. Never smoked again.

The others, I just vaped. If they asked, I answered their questions. My sister in law asked me to get her a vape like mine and I did and she switched as soon as she had it in hand. My husband watched me vape for a week, and when I had completely switched, he wanted one as well.

Sometimes, just seeing how easy it is makes a believer out of them. It didn’t hurt that I knew people with a vape shop who explained what was in the juice, so it wasn’t scary.

Nice to meet you!
It's such a good luck you had success to make 4 people free of the vicious habit! It feels like you provide the best positive example to your relatives :)

Hi and welcome. I'm going to be honest, when I started vaping, my entire family thought I would fail, my husband especially, and I really wanted him to switch.

Things I tried: nagging, oh a LOT of nagging. LOL. That was not useful. Then I shut up, kept vaping and about 6 months in with no smoking he got interested. So, I fed setups his way. He's still dual using, but hey I DID THAT for a long time. Fell of the wagon recently and had to pick myself up and dust myself off.

I WILL SAY, my kid was a HUGE factor in my willingness to quit. He quit smoking, then a few years later vaping, and gifted me all the gear he got me. LOL he has since returned, but I had plenty of stuff to give HIM too.

But, I'd had pneumonia for about 18 months, and was hitting COPD land I mean the dx was imminent. That vape gear sitting there was the BEST gift, because I was like, holy GOODNESS, my kid can quit SMOKING AND VAPING and I can't even consider VAPING? So consider it I did and it worked.

My sis was a cold turkey smoker but she totally supported my switch to vaping. It was cool. The rest of my family either didn't care much (my brother strenuously had no interest in vaping, I did mention it and he was like, "I tried it. NO." So, I let it be. He'll probably be an intermittent smoker forever, he's always quitting and starting (my version of hell if you ask me).

My mom visited recently and told me "Ecigs are harmful." She got an EARFUL OMG I was a 3 ppd smoker and she nagged me forever to quit smoking, LOL.

I was like "Blur of education and you KNOW how I smoked MOM, Jesus! Do you want me to go back to 3 ppd."

So, they're all different. My Dad quit after a heart attack and like, he says, "The only thing stopping me from starting again is the fear of quitting again."

So ALL are different and I have converted NO family member although maybe a few pals and I stay mum on the topic these days, unless someone ASKS, or alternately TRIES TO TELL me vaping is bad.

But, I will say, good for you and everyone has their own methods and ideas. I have found demonstration to be best. But that's me. Etc.

Anna

Welcome and glad you joined.
I here you, with my lot, all I could do is point them in the right direction (even bought them kits) and hope they make the effort to quit. The main thing I found, is to do all you can do about it once and leave it at that ("don't pick the scab").

That's very true. There was another thread somewhere on the forum discussing if any of us talks to strangers about vaping while in line. I do -- :) but can usually tell if they are not approachable. If I do talk to them and they are not interested I back off. I've actually met some nice people that way! Hope your friends decide to do it --- and glad you did.

For my case, I was converted by my cousin brother who used to be a heavy smoker. I am surprised that after one week I could go without smoking with the aid of vaping as I was a pretty heavy smoker myself. I think it is very largely depended on one's will and determination to quit smoking. It will be really great if we could persuade people to quit smoking.

Hi, nice to meet you, @BrotherBob
I see now... the only thing that will work is my own experience and their willing to quit. Thank you for your support :)
