Oh yes, ramp up. Fix one issue and another issue crops up. C’est la vie :)
How about ss then, 26g itself would lend a lower resistance and ramp up is not really affected right? I think these gauges and wire types too lend for some experimentation. Sounds like more fun!
Unless you use tc the ramp with ss is tedious as well. The rules apply to all wires. Thin wire fast ramp - thick wire slow ramp.

Agreed. Guess I am wrapped up in achieving a sub ohm coil to get the clouds. But then these gauges too have an inherent exploration. Anyway, I will not get waylaid. Guess I will just try out the 24g kanthal and leave it at that.
I remember how hard it was to not jump off the deep end. I have a box full of attys proving I wasn't entirely successful. Just wrap a few coils of various mm and wraps and play. Even a mtl coil can produce clouds.

Hearing you loud and clear !!
I only strayed onto the 24g kanthal, other than that I am going to stick to 26g only. Try some parallel builds for good measure and see where it all leads. :)
Experiment with all of them (kanthal, Ni80, ss316). My point is don't get stuck on resistance alone. Diameter, gauge, # of wraps, coil placement, wicking all play an important role. Get stuck on any one and you are missing an opportunity to find a variety of sweet spots to keep it fresh.

Yeah true. There are far too many variables affecting the quality of the vape anyway. At some point in my vaping journey Dl -> sub ohm -> clouds got imprinted in my head. So my incessant obsession to get the resistance at lower levels. Of course, with parallel I can still get that with the 26g A1 itself, so that leaves room for all the other things you have said. Plus I need to try the coil placement on the Intake as you recommended, loads of things to do. ;)
So given the juice is a precious commodity (I think I have enough cotton and wire to last me for a long time!), each time I experiment it is enough if I just use .5 ml or so to get the tune of the set up right? Just wanted to see if there is an efficient MO where my juice stocks are kept afloat (my state just banned e cigs officially!), so most local vendors will not ship here. Of course I can physically go and get it but things are tightening here. Damn these fools, they dont know a thing about this yet they are fluently passing laws, blundering idiots :-x

Thank you very much again for scouring the internet for me, most appreciated!
I did get some wires just after that post - some 24g kanthal and on an instinct 25/32 clapton kanthal :D
And I also got some more cotton. So wire and cotton, I am ok !
As long as I can judiciously experiment with my limited juice supply, I am set :)

Just out of curiosity can you buy nicotine?

You mean DIY eliquids?
Because of my limited ejuice supply? I thought it is another branch of learning and I was asked to steer clear of it for now.
That suggestion came before we knew of your circumstances iirc. If you are confident that you will continue to vape it may be your only option.

Could be folks underestimated Ananth's enthusiasm. It was suggested he not mess with RBA/RTA yet
but as you've seen he's all over it.
I don't think Ananth is going to stop vaping anytime soon.
I'm sure he can score supplies to master DIY.
A few years ago some vendors were selling nicotine manufactured in Indian labs...

Things are different for him now. Many of his purchases will be black market now.
Well...There are 29 states in India, and six of them have now banned sales and manufacture of vape products.
That leaves 23 states through which goods can flow... networking works wonders.

I hope that Ananth's conversations with local vendors don't turn him into an alarmist.

I'm going to say that if you want to do DIY, @K Ananthakrishnan , you just approach in the methodical fashion you have so far, you will be fine.

DIY is one of my favorite things (except when it's Big Mixing day) but it is a lot of fun. Nothing wrong with waiting a bit, nothing wrong (other than start up costs and etc) with going ahead if you are interested.

You're probably going to wind up doing it at some point and being good at it (just a guess) but also, nothing wrong with Just Vaping Happy for a while, too. The benefit of sampling various storebought juice is it does start to give you a sense of profiles you like/dislike which will make purchasing flavors a bit easier. Just my opinion of course. Etc.
