Hello from Lehigh Valley PA!

Hi everyone, great forum here, I have already gathered a ton of information as I embark on this new chapter in my life. I am a smoker of 30+ years and while it is my only vice it has been one that's been very difficult to kick. I'd tried some of the cheapie cigarette look-a-likes and came away totally disappointed. Then about a month ago a friend turned me on to his new vaping tool, and I thought "Hey, this is NICE!" So three days ago my wife and I went to a local vape shop and walked out with an EVOD starter kit and a couple flavors of juice, and I can see this really working! Did not go cold turkey but we've both cut our analog smoking in half and plan on not buying more when we run out (we have stuffed our own for a few years now). Looking forward to being part of the forums. My one big disappointment was after feeling good about myself for taking this route, I started reading about all the threats to our freedom to do so. Major bummer!

Welcome to the forums Gene! Congrats on making the decision to quit smoking. It can be tough but you will have plenty of support here.

Thanks! I know it's early into it but I feel really good about this as it really "feels" so much like smoking.

My biggest worry now is that it's going to suddenly become illegal or be taxed to a point that it's priced out of reach. I'm totally perplexed that a product with no tobacco in it is being called a tobacco product. I understand the nicotine part but geez we aren't stupid. By political standards a Vicks Vaporizer should be a prescription product that carries a health warning.

Hello Lehigh Valley! Born and raised in the Pocono's here but turned southern. Welcome and congratulations! I'm on day 41 cig free after smoking for 40+ years. Isn't it amazing? I never thought I'd see the day. You've found a wonderful forum here. Drama free and full of kind people offering support and knowledge. So glad you've arrived! Now, if only I still had access to Lehigh Valley cottage cheese.

My biggest concern is that I'm sure I have the physical aspects to the addiction. I think I'll be alright from the nicotine angle, but afraid if we lose these I'll jump right back to cigarettes

Yes, I have back-ups for my back-ups for my back-ups so I don't find myself in the position to ever feel the need to light up. I always made sure I had plenty of analogs on hand so I didn't run out and thought it wise to do the same with vaping.

So glad to hear you've started down your vaping journey. Regarding your concern about what the government is going to do, just keep abreast of what's going on and do your part to contribute; i.e. going to government meetings, etc. You might want to join CASAA, which is an awesome not-for-profit organization.
