Some info on me.
I quit analogs cold turkey about 7 weeks ago and would not have made it if I hadn't found electronic cigarettes. About 5 days into my quit I was talking with someone and telling them I didn't think I was going to make it and they told me about the e-cig. I did some research on the internet and this looked like the answer and a win, win for me! I loved to smoke and the only reason I was quitting was because I worried about my health. I really didn't look to long about what to buy since I needed something now. I even went and bought a couple disposables because I didn't want to smoke another analog. Since green smoke was having a 1/2 off sale at the time I bought a kit from them. I got it right away and I am happy with them. I have been refilling and cleaning the carto's that came with my kit and haven't had to throw one out yet. I have been trying new flavors (mostly menthol) from different vendors trying find the one I like (not easy). Life is great and I love my e-cig and will never go back to analogs again. I know people on this board do not like green smoke and for good reason, they are
expensive, but other than the expense I could not be happier with the product.

I want to stick with the cigarette style ecig for now, but I am not going to buy anything else from green smoke for the above mentioned expense reason and because it is a KR808d-2. You can not find as many parts to play with as you can with the KR808d-1 and the 510. My question is are there and differences between the d-1 and the 510 batteries? It looks like i can find an adapter for either to fit the carto's I have from green smoke. smokelessimage looks like it has decent stuff and i think they are KR808d-1, but a lot of threads i read talk about 510. I will appreciate any help you can give.

Thanks

Yes, besides the different sized diameter threads, the 510 battery has female threads while the other has male. There is also a few tenths of a volt difference in standard battery output. (510 is the lower of the two.)

Smokeless Image has a good rep.

I use 510 threaded devices because I liked the options available to me when I started and the options have only increased since then.

Thanks for the replies on this.

Is there any differences in the length of the charge or how long it takes to charge them? I am leaning towards the volt from smokeless image, but I want to be sure they are good and that cartomizer for the kr808d-i are as goos as the ones for a 510 battery. Whichever I choose I will be using for a while.

Howdy dshark, I am from south of Minneapolis, in the Jordan area. Where are your stores? I have been to a couple of stores in town for juice.

SI has been great for me so far. Use code SIVOLT50 for 15% off

+1 - fast shipping and quality product. Try their Ry4 - really good and great vapor.

As was stated above, there are a couple of stores around the Twin Cities and some of the smoke shops around town sell e-cig realted stuff....

One store in Anoka which I HIGHLY recommend and the other in .... Rapids. Both sell starter kits and mods. The Anoka store is where most of my business goes, the owner is very knowledgeable and really takes time with people to help them understand. They will let you sample flavors on-site which I appreciate...

Once you get more posts in and over the new member limits send me a PM and I will give more information.

I was hoping for more advice on which battery people like more, the 510 or the 808 and why and where the best place to buy them are. I have been reading the site for a while and have not seen a good comparison between the 2. I was leaning 808 auto, but 510 looks like it has a lot more options for parts and addons. Besides the connections are they basically the same batteries?

I started with a 510 connection device; the eGo T and although the 'T' portion of this device did not satisfy me it did leave my options wide open to try many other things. I really cannot speak to the 808 but a 510 eGo led me to other 510 options such as the current mods I use. Because of this connection I tend to try many other cartos/attys and tanks. I do not know the differences between the 808 and 510 batts outside of connection. Not sure that helped you much but take it for what it is.

Somewhere in PA on my Ultra Limited
510 is the most common connector and you can get adapters for anything 808/510, 510/eGo, 510/901, etc... With the stick batteries, the there is a few voltage points (808's=3.7v / 510=3.4v if I remember correctly). Neither of the smaller form factors can use LR (low resistance) devices because the current draw is too big. Most recommendations say 450mAh or bigger because it will either shorten the life span or render inoperable the smaller batts (all the sticks I've seen are 380mAh or less). When I started I went 808 because I liked the warmer vapor, but I've ready really good things about the Volt.

If you're looking for another cigarette clone, the Mistic has terrific battery life, and is fairly inexpensive if you have a Sam's club membership - the #2 package has one battery, 2 cartos and a charger for $10. 20 refill cartos run about $35 at Sam's, and are easily refillable.

Their menthol is the BEST menthol I've found since starting vaping, and while I have bigger kits and mods now, I still love my Mistic for running around - the battery lasts a full 6 hours of nearly non stop chain vaping, or 2-3 days for a lighter user. The same is true of their cartos.

If you don't have a Sam's club membership, most WalMarts seem to carry them, as do quite a few convenience stores and gas stations.

That's awesome!! Thanks for that info. Too bad I live by Albert Lea. I'll have to plan a trip sometime up there. Dshark, do you know of any Minnesota vape meets or anything like that?

Myself I am not much of a Vape meet kinda guy but they sometimes post MN Vape Meets in the Twin Cities/Minnesota Vapers group here on ECF.
Hope that helps.
