Hi Folks,

I've been vaping for a bit over a year now, started with a volcano inferno because someone at my job tried a few and liked his so I went with it. I eventually decided i wanted something better and watched a bunch of video's and liked the Tesla....just recently got a Kanger Pro tank2 for rebuildability.

I do have some questions.

I'm using a 32 gauge kanthal wire and 2mil cotton wicking. I wrap the wire around a nail that is just the right size and then pull the nail out and slide the wicking inside of it.

The problem i get is like 1 out of 4 of them is good and the others end up being such a low ohm coil it doesn't work...and the few end up around 2.5-2.7 which i seem to really like. I just don't understand why it happens. I wrap it around the nail about 6 times but some are good most don't seem to be.

That should be plenty of wraps to get a decent resistance. Are you getting a short somewhere? Like, is the coil touching the metal in the top of the head, or are the wires crossing inside the head? Have you checked to make sure you are clipping the tails off completely flush with the insulator and pin at the bottom?

I do clip the wires as close as I can with a nail clipper. I try to wrap it tight and as close together since you don't have much room to play with...usually the loops are partially touching each other. Im not sure if its shorting out...i learned after the first few tries that they cant touch the sides of the metal top piece and try to run the wires straight down, bend one off then feed the insulated rubber piece with one ofthe wire ends through it, bend it over on the opposite side slide the metal plug in and trim it close and then test it.

Sometimes I torch the wire, sometimes not.
