And question I have for the veteran mixers...why do my recipe's seem to fade with flavor? Sometimes it can happen in couple hours after mixing. For example I make one up of my own on flavors I like and others have said mix well together....lets take VBIC which I like a lot. I taste it after shake and vape and it is awesome. Come back just 3 or 4 hours later and the flavor is muted. Almost to where I want to add more.

This is just me, but flavors seem to come on strong in the beginning (mainly nasal, in my opinion, and I blow vape out through my nose) as they are mixing, settling, and etc., they seem to mute for a while. My best flavors (and I usually only use one flavor in a batch, but will mix inside my tank) seem to require a certain amount of shaking, sitting, shaking, top off, top on, kind of thing.... That seems to bring out the flavors after 4--6 days. I have no clue why that is, but give your flavor some steeping/shaking time before you start adjusting it (though it may need adjusting, but if you do it too soon you may have a mess on your hands....) :)

Good luck,

Anna

Cowtown, USA. Where the West begins.
Lets hope there is no other Maine. Anyways, kinda said that cause did not want folks from other countries think we up here in Maine were special and that everyone around the globe should know where it is. I don't know...did not want to sound like USA is the only country that matters and if you don't know where my state is then the heck with ya. Who knows, maybe there is a Maine in Ethiopia.
Lol, you're from Maine, all right. I love the place, myself. The Down Easters remind me of Texans in many ways; good friends and bad enemies. And hey, where else do you get Interstate signs reading "watch for moose in roadway"?

Sprtrkr, your so right on the signs. You'd kinda of exspect to see them on rural roads but ya on the interstate to driving at 70mph. And, knock on wood have never hit one but have had my close calls..."really close calls". Have seen the aftermath of the collisions however and it ain't nice. They are tall, very tall, so the windshield is usually the first place of impact...I shiver just thinking bout it.

Shoutout to Anna for replying to comment about muted flavor. Anna your so right about the flavor in the nose. I was recently contemplating this exact theory the other night and thought it was just me. I can not really taste the flavor on the inhale and maybe even the exhale. I thought it was me and that my previous smoking had ruined my taste buds in my mouth and on my tongue. So when I taste a flavor I have to exhale through my nose and then I get it. I read recipe's all the time when making them and it will say a specific flavor on inhale and then another on exhale. I do not get the inhale and I do try to experience it in an attempt to better my vaping experience. I am hoping that it will come back as I quit smoking 5 or 6 months ago. But I don't think so cause I can not taste it in the least bit on inhale.

oh and steeping? Wow, not sure how folks can wait weeks or even days. It is not like I don't want to wait (well it is too) but, cause I either ran out or need to experience another flavor as I feel urge for an analog. When I smoked analog it was always enjoyable and I never felt the need to switch to another brand. It does not help the fact that my wife still smokes analogs. She smokes about 2 packs a week maybe week and a half. I am covertly attempting to bring her over from the dark side. Small nuances like "here try this flavor out", or I will make some subtle comment on her smoking trying not to offend her. After all I am only smoke free a short time. I do not want to um....like call the kettle black for another lack of a better analogy. Don't want to be like one of those "recent ex-smokers" being strongly opinionated about another's smoking. After all, I a newbie when it comes to not smoking, I still have the cravings. Don't particularly enjoy smelling the smoke but, I even at this moment would not mind a drag. Just being honest.

Over time, your taste buds will heal, but it takes time. Things to try: stay hydrated, vaping can dry you out. Get juices in (very) strong flavors and wildly different: menthol, peppermint and clove, for example, and switch them often (easiest if you buy a couple cheap tanks and just switch them). Go to the dentist and get your teeth cleaned. Brush often and use a strong mouthwash. Smell strong coffee grounds. Keep a small bottle with a few drops of ammonia cleaner in it and sniff it now and again. The idea is to "shock" your tasting equipment back into use.

Spindrift 61, maybe you want to mix up more than one flavor at a time, and put dates on your bottles? That way, once started, you won't run out and you'll have more options overall for when a craving hits? I have a fair number of flavors in rotation now (like 7), and I plan to keep mixing on a schedule so that if one flavor bombs, I won't be vaping pure VG and nicotine. I mean, I would *do that* if needed, but there's really no reason for me to. I'd probably go buy a flavor if it came down to it, but once you get on the mixing train and are mixing larger amounts, there is no reason for that to happen, really. :)

+1 to @stols001 I DIY and I mix in larger quantities; 500=1000ml. If I have a bit left over from the last time, fine: the new batch steeps. If not, I vape it "new" and it will be steeped by the time I get to the next bottle :)

All great advice, thanks. Last thing I want to do is start "explicative". I would imagine I am not mixing enough quantity as I normally mix 10-30ml. And if 30 it has to be an exceptional one to my liking, MM Clone being one of them. And never thought about pure VG and nic. May keep a small mix of that on hand. Also it maybe to early in my switching over to be mixing at 3mg which is my nic amount. Don't know why I picked that other than others I have read stating that is the optimal amount for dripping. I do have tanks and such but, when I found dripping and making coils and the clouds that could fulfill my smoking crave.

ugh ...the mention of clove, peppermint and menthol I don't believe is to my liking. I like sweets...no, I love sweets. And as I am writing this I feel a backlash of your comments being " what do you think is in analogs?" So maybe I should try them, maybe that is what I crave right now. And my second thought is maybe I should bump up my VG/PG. Right now every mix has been at 80% VG and 3mg nic. So I am not getting any kind of throat hit nor am I satisfying my analog craving. I think I am only attending to my sweet addiction.
