Hello

Im Chris from NYC. Im 26 and my b-day is coming up in two weeks, so a gift to myself is to stop smoking cigarettes. I ran into someone who had an e-cigarette and told me its a good way to quit or at least an alternative to smoking regular stoges. I dont smoke a lot, about 3 cigarettes a day, so im a social smoker really, but i dont want to smoke at all. i went online and found this site.

Ive read many sites, reviews, and particularly the ECF posts from members and because of the e-juice/liquid refilling hassle and atomizer replacements, i think i want to get a 2-part (battery+cartomizer) e-cig...of course the usual and big question:

WHICH ONE DO I GET!?

I found this thread to be useful and somewhat current: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...st-electronic-cigarette-first-time-vaper.html

from what ive read, the KR8/KR808D-1(?) is the best 2-piece e-cig, but i wanted to make sure that i have the right information before i order anything. considering im not a huge smoker, is there a better 2 piece e-cig? ive also heard of the 510,

i should add, initial cost is not a big deal. im willing to pay whatever it costs for a quality product, but long term costs are an issue. from what i understand there is interchangability between cartomizers, so id like an e-cigg/battery that doesnt require me to spend a lot of money each time as long as the quality is good, if that makes any sense...

so what e-cigs should i be looking at? or which do you think i should get?

PS Where should i buy it from/what online vendor?

The staff was helpful and very knowledgeable super low prices and its how I got turned on to the ecf! Whichever you decide I would just take your time and make a informed purchase theres so much useful info on the ecf to find out what works and whats in your price range good luck and keep posting! You will get a lot of different good advice from many here but from my experience starter kits isn't the only way to go...tho thats how I began $$$$ ago. My 2cents is start with a inexpensive mod otherwise you'll probably spend money going from one upgrade to another.
Shop here E Cigarette Suppliers Forum
I suggest buying a 510LR atty and this (everything else you'll need) deal...

A Kr808 is a good choice. As little as you actually smoke, they will work for you. There are a few reputable companies that sell them, BloogPlanet and Vapor4life. Both carry Kr808 batteries and cartomizers. Vapor4life also sells juice to refill the cartos.

I am a bloog fan. It has helped me (a pack and a half a day smoker for 40 years) get off the analogs.

The KR808D-1 is an excellent choice and will work very well for you, since you're an extremely light smoker. I can't imagine only smoking 3 cigarettes a day. Part of me wants to tell you to just walk away from the smokes and not even think about vaping, but I can't. Why? Because you do smoke, even if it isn't a lot and you can always use 0 nicotine juice.

Vapor4Life has a great selection of KR808D-1 models and they are a highly recommended vendor. I suggest getting a manual because it'll give you greater control over how you vape and you won't have to do the "puff, puff" prime bit to get going. The prices are very reasonable and you'll be getting a very dependable PV.

Hi yellow, welcome to ECF. :)

You'e going to get dozens of answers. Everyone has their own preference. I started with and still use (among other PV's) SmokeTip. It's a kr808d-1 two piece set. The reason I prefer this kr808 set is because the batteries are warranted for LIFE and Kristi at customer service is fantastic! The Kit and everythng from SmokeTip has free shipping which make their prices comparable to others. Starter kit runs 59.99. You can check it out here SmokeTip.com.

My second choice for a two piece would be Vapor4Life. I love their cartomizers, and the batteries are also great. They are, however, not guaranteed for life, but have good customer service and loyal fans here.

Others will have different vendors for you to look at. Good luck, and don't hesitate to ask about anything you don't understand. Again, congratulations on your decision to quit smoking and welcome :)

Im going to agree with everyone on the kr808-D as the choice to go with. You cant beat the ease of use and the great tastes of the cartomizers.
I LOVED LOVED LOVED to smoke. I was a pack a day smoker and I was really concerned about getting the right one. The kr808 was my second purchase and I never picked up another cigarette... that was just about two years ago.
You can buy some extra juice to drip into the carts to extend their life a little longer and you dont have to worry about extra attys or syringes or paperclips! Just a couple batteries, an extra cart, and a small bottle of juice. It really doesnt get much easier and I think for new vapers its not likely to turn them away from e-cigs.

thanks for the welcomes and the replies everyone...

i didnt know the kr8 was a generic model with different manufacturers and brands. i thought it was THE KR8....ive seen vapor4life on the forum a few times. unsure mentioned not getting a starter kit, but that was for a (3 piece?) 510. which brings me to my next point (edit: i just read a reply, its to slightly extend cartomizer, right?)

please forgive my ignorance but i thought the idea behind the 2-piece e-cigs cartomizer was to eliminate refilling/rejuicing. is that incorrect? in other words, do replacement cartomizers come prefilled with juice/liquid or do i still have to refill it myself?

if i did go with a start kit, is the concensus Vapor4Life?

thank you

PS the video is great, thanks for the link....i checked the recommendation from mistress videos, is this what i should start with? http://www.electronicstix.com/STARTER-KITS/808D-1-Series-Starter-Kits/808D-1-p248.html

Hi Yellow & Welcome to ECF!

re "Cartomizers": It's an all-in-one cartridge & atomizer unit. You can get them empty & fill with your own juice. You can get them pre-filled with juice _and_ REFILL them with your own juice.

I believe Vapor4Life prices their "Cartos" the same, whether blank or pre-filled. V4L has an extensive line of nicotine strengths, plus 0-nic. They also have one of the largest selections (if not the largest) of pre-filled flavours. You're not limited to tobacco or menthol flavours. You can buy corresponding juice flavours to refill. You can order sampler packs of "Cartos", too.

Hope this helps a little. I use V4L's XL-batteries in automatic, buy pre-filled cartos for the most part. I've recently started refilling with juice, once I figured out how very easy it is.

Hi Yellow. If you wait about an hour, you have the 5-post minimum met :) You can ask more specific questions in the V4L SubForum. The folks there are very helpful, and it's moderated by several of V4Ls Staff.

They have a Tobacco Shop Sampler that is a nice selection of flavours. It's difficult to replicate a true cigarette tobacco flavour, tho. If you've ever smoked a pipe, you'll understand the distinct difference in taste/flavour. I've found the juices to be more like pipe tobacco rather than cigarette. Personal opinion only =}.

Yellow,
Which supplier you end up going with is most likely gonna end up being trial and error. You'll probably want to try a couple before settling on one. V4L has a huge fan base. Its my opinion that its because of that huge following, that V4L can over price alot of their product. You can spend much less on the same things and get equal satisfaction. I started with them. I can tell you that I dont purchase from them anymore, unless Im in an emergancy situation. And as for this question, "... but i thought the idea behind the 2-piece e-cigs cartomizer was to eliminate refilling/rejuicing. is that incorrect? in other words, do replacement cartomizers come prefilled with juice/liquid or do i still have to refill it myself?", I gave you part of that answer here:

You can buy some extra juice to drip into the carts to extend their life a little longer

In addition, the carts come prefilled with whatever flavor you choose. Most suppliers are also offering empty carts as well. Which simply means that they have batting in them but no flavoring. The idea is that you can buy them and fill them with whatever juice you like.

So yes you are correct that the two piece design is to eliminate the whole juice thing, but with ease of use comes sacrifice of longevity. Its a disposable cart. But if you throw them away when they run out of taste or vapor, you'll be spending too much money. Most carts last about 4-5 hours of heavy vaping and then they're done. However, if you drip... you can extend that to about 24 hours. Its still a cart a day, but its better than a cart every few hours, unless money is not an issue. I've been using the kr808-D for two years. Im not tooting my own horn, but I am saying I've been around the block with this model. Let me know if you'd like to know some decent places with decent prices. I have one supplier for carts and batteries, and another for juice. PM me if you'd like to. Im a huge fan of the kr808. It got me off cigarettes. If you're leaning towards it, I simply want to help make sure you get the best experience from it.

~off soapbox~ ;)
