Hello, new vaper with some questions.

Hello, I am about 5 weeks with no smoking. Yay! With vaping as a replacement quitting smoking was easy for me. But I need some advice.

Currently I have a nautilus mini. I love the tank when it is working right. But each different batch of coils I get seems to behave completely different. I have tried 1.8 ohm BVC coils from 4 different retailers (some online and some B&M) and the coils vary wildly. Someone explained to me there are a lot of clone coils out there not made from the manufacturer. I don't like this crapshoot with disposable coils that cost anywhere from $5 to $15 bucks for a five pack. Some coils have 0 airflow (no hole down the middle and the wicking material packed in way too tight). Some get burnt too fast. Others just do not seem to have the flavor. But about a quarter of the coils I have used have been perfectly sublime. Is this normal to have only 25% good coils? I have purchased five 5 packs of aspire nautilus BVC coils.

To remedy my frustration with my hit or miss luck with disposable coils I bought an RBA. I should get it in the mail any day now. I am sure I am capable of building something more consistent than the disposable coils I have previously used. Will the UD Goblin perform decent on the battery I already have? I have the 30W eleaf.

Also if I want to keep the nautilus mini as a backup vape is there twist style VV or VW battery that is 18 or 19mm diameer? The size of the ego one 1000mah? I like the looks of it's small size but I do not think it has the voltage or wattage control. It seems the vv/vw devices are thinner or thicker in diameter than 18 or 19mm. Any recommendations?

I can't tell you much about rebuildables cuz I always buy mine and I'll be kicking myself in the behind until I jump on it but only having 25% of your coils usable is absurd from my experience. I have an EVOD and out of my kanger coils I'd say one out of a five pack every other time was normal. Although I have gone thru some bad batches. But I just got a vivi nova so we'll see how that works out. I heard the bvc's last a while like 2 weeks or more so I hope those work out better for you. But your experiences with bdc's sounds a little fishy to me but definitely get on rebuilding your coils way cheaper and you can customize and tweak them to better your vaping experience.

I agree the price of coils are kinda high for usage rates.
I currently have a Horizon Spartan Mini, Kanger Protank 3, and an Aspire ViVi Nova
Out of the 3 I think I going to make the protank 3 my main user because u can rebuild their coils. And the Spartan has the best flavor of the three
I have tried to get the Spartan coils apart but end up destroying them. The aspire I have not tried yet
I am getting around 7-10 days on a coil in the spartan and I am 5 days into the 1st coil on the protank and aspire

Thanks. I hope the rebuildable becomes my daily driver. I am rather sick of all the maintenance that the disposable tank needs. Maybe I just vape a lot.

Hi Goyo, I think you'll find that the rebuildables requires a bit more maintenance.
Swapping coils in a (disposable) tank is a breeze, but can get expensive.

With rebuildables you have to wrap the coil, screw it down, wick it and prime it.
It's more work but worth the satisfaction, plus you have nobody to blame but yourself if a coil is bad.
But it's easy after the first couple of times. You're gonna want a couple RBAs or RDAs.
One to use while you build the other.

Thanks. I plan on having three in the not too distant future. I will add a RDA sometime down the road.

I would like to address two questions I had in the OP.

1. Will the istick 30W be sufficient for the Goblin?
2. Is there a 19mm or 18mm diameter vv vw battery similar in size to the ego one?

Nope. You most definitely can dry burn an Aspire BVC.

Also to answer your questions

1. Well, it depends on what you wanna build your coils out to. If you're going for some crazy .3 ohm build, then no, your iStick 30W will not suffice, as I'm pretty sure it can't fire below .5 ohms. Even if it could, putting out 30W to a .3 ohm build would be a bit slow to heat, and it would drain your battery nearly instantly. On the other hand, if you're making a 1.2 ohm build or something like that, the results will be very different. You can make the 30W iStick work with an RDA, if you build accordingly. In my personal opinion (this is strictly preference) 30W would not be enough to any RDA coil that I'd build.

2. Hmm.. As far as I know, no, because as far as I know, the Ego One is one of the only devices that'll flushly fit a Nautilus Mini. I could be mistaken though.

30watts is plenty for a tank. Just use higher resistance kanthal - 28 or 30 guage.

Get an Ohm meter as well - test builds before firing them. Always best to be safe.

Oh crap, in my post I thought you were talking about the Goblin RDA. Just realized you're talking about the UD Goblin.

My comment still stands true though, just replace "RDA" with "RTA". With an RTA though, I'd build something in the .7-1.3 ohm range. The iStick 30W would be perfect for that.

Mods usually have a resistance range they suggest.
The goblin in particular does like lower wattages than other attys.

Does anyone have any suggestions for an 18 or 19mm diameter vv or vw mod for my nautilus mini?
