Hi, been reading these forums for weeks. I have started vaping a month ago and went from 1.5 packs a day to less than 5. I started with Blu which was fine for a start, but then wanted to try a vape pen so I could try ejuices and that was working nice until I realized ohms law and found out the nicer tanks I was buying would not work with my vape pen (pen came with 2.4 ohm clearomizers, and the protank mini is 1.5 to 1.8). Went to a vape shop today and purchased an eleaf istick 20w (I don't sub ohm so will only be using it up to 12w) and it is preforming awesome with my kanger mini tanks. My question is: Can I still use my plastic clearomizers with this unit? I ask because I have plenty of them when I was using the vape pen and got extra coils so don't want to waste them. Does it matter if I use plastic or glass? I will be using glass only in time, but like I mentioned, have some that I don't want to waste.

Thank you for your time.

Welcome @Bonnie C

As I like to say, anyone who ditches Blu and their evil empire gets my vote.

You can use spare/old plastic clearos on an iStick. The iStick 20w might not drop low enough (we could write a page on that issue) to avoid burning, but essentially, yes. You might need the 510-eGo adapter

I carry iClear16s for emergency... they are plastic. Just don't fill them with cinnamon or 'hard' citrus.

Thank you so much for responding fast. :) I did try it and seemed just fine, but wanted to make sure as I don't want to ruin my shiny new ileaf.

like you I had quite a few of these kicking about when I bought my first iStick and I used them until they died a natural death without any problems. While using them up I researched good tanks and things got even better.

Welcome to the forum and I hope you enjoy your time here.

If I remember these things aright the voltage started at around 4 volts peak quickly went down to 3.7 volts and shut itself of around 3.3 volts and fired a coil with a resistance of around 2.1 ohms give or take ( manufacturers tolerances) so I reckoned I was good to use them up.

I'm sure there will be someone along with much more technical knowledge than me to correct me if I'm wrong....and if I am I will be glad to be corrected if I am.

I was looking at the "safe vaping" chart for the ohms and volts and would have been in the red if I used my pen with my Kanger mini tanks. Being so new to vaping I didn't know what would have happened and want to maintain safety first. I will probably be more relaxed as I learn more. This forum has been such a huge help for me.

Yes, the old safe vaping charts. They were useful. I did use 1.8ohm mini Protanks (on an eGo 'pen') but not the dual coil 1.5ohm ones. They seemed to work (of sorts) but the vapour was minimal.
The scare was using the lower ohms with the low wicking of some of those old tanks.
Bad for the battery, bad for the horrible dry-hit vapes.

Yes you can use the clearomisers with your Istick. You will need an adapter to screw into the 510 threads on top of your mod and an ego adapter on too where the clearomiser will screw onto the Ego threads.
